highlights
on
Monday,
April,
seventeenth,
the
city,
councilmen
and
regular
session
city
council
open
the
meeting
with
communications
from
the
members.
President
knisley
announced
that
on
May
nineteenth
there
will
be
an
infrastructure
tour
conducted
by
the
public
works
director
Andy
stone.
This
bus
tour
of
the
city
is
open
to
the
public
in
anyone
wanting
to
attend
to
contact
the
clerk
of
council
Debbie
Walker
at

prior
to
the
tour
dates.
A
Member
fall
informed
council
that
she
has
received
feedback
from
citizens.
Pleased
with
the
professionalism
and
courtesies
shown
by
the
Athens
PD
in
Oh
upd
during
the
recent
we
confessed
member
fall
is
in
receipt
of
an
email
from
a
citizen
willing
to
donate
bike
racks
for
the
Union
Street
enhancement
project.
Mayor
Patterson
reported
the
following
street
closures:
Granville
avenue
will
be
closed
on
wednesday
April
nineteenth
from
eight
a.m.
until
the
completion
of
the
installation
of
a
water
tap
madison
avenue
will
be
closed
between
east
state
street
and
franklin
avenue
on
thursday
april
twentieth
from
eight
a.m.
A
until
the
completion
of
a
water
main
repair,
there
will
be
no
emergency
or
through
traffic
during
the
repairs.
The
Ohio
health
alanis
race
for
a
reason
will
be
held
on
saturday
and
a
number
of
streets
will
be
closed
during
the
event.
Also
on
saturday,
the
oh
you
march
for
science
is
planned
to
begin
at
1pm
at
dairy
lane
park.
The
march
will
proceed
to
West
screen
up
to
the
courthouse
and
will
end
at
Howard
square.
All
other
street
closures
are
located
on
the
city's
website.
Next
on
the
agenda
were
ordinances
for
the
final
reading.

All
ordinances
were
approved
by
the
council,
City
Council
then
read
ordinances.
For
the
second
time
there
is
a
suspension
of
the
three
reading
rural
ordinance
4417
authorizing
an
appropriation
for
parking
kiosks
that
are
a
part
of
the
West
Union
Street
enhancements
council
then
moved
on
to
organizes
being
read
for
the
first
time
suspending
in
adopting
ordinances
related
to
the
accessibility
repairs
for
the
community
center
entrance
in
an
application
for
an
o
dot
grant
to
upgrade
the
Athens
public
transit
technology.
A
This
city
of
Athens
then
moved
a
one
reading
resolution
introduced
by
all
members
of
the
council
in
support
of
restoring
funding
for
the
aarc.
These
funds
were
zeroed
out
in
the
proposed
federal
budget.
Aarc
grants
provide
very
real
assistance
to
our
community.
The
resolution
was
approved
by
council
moving
on
to
announcement
in
other
businesses,
the
council
accepted
the
auditors
march
2017
financial
report.
Christian
rice
was
appointed
to
serve
on
environment
and
sustainability.
Commission
and
Mayor
Paterson
announced
that
there
are
three
vacancies
on
the
joint
police
advisory
council.
A
One
position
is
at
large,
while
the
other
two
are
specific
appointment,
there's
also
a
vacancy
on
the
Community
Relations
Commission
in
another
on
the
environment
and
sustainability
Commission.
