city
council
meeting
highlights
on
Monday
March
27th.
The
city
council
met
in
committee
meeting
the
main
opened
with
City
and
safety
services
committee.
Please
sheet

memorandum
of
understanding
that
would
allow
Athens
City
police
officers
to
join
forces
with
the
Athens
County
Sheriff,
Special,
Response
and
tactics
unit.
The
agreement
is
to
provide
mutual
assistance
in
the
interchange
of
personnel
and
equipment.

training
will
enhance
officers,
skill
set
and
benefit
the
citizens
of
Athens
an
ordinance
to
approve
this
agreement
will
move
forward.

to

disabilities,
requested
approval
of
a
one-time
training
fund
to
implement
Commission's
accessibility
assessment
project.
This
project
is
to
recognize
and

businesses

their
limited
resources
to
make
their
place
as
accessible
as
possible.
The
Commission's
hope
is
to
encourage
businesses
in
the
area
to
be
a
DA
compliance.

agenda
was
a
Transportation
Committee.
Ohiohealth
of
lenis
will
be
serving
as
this
year's
sponsor
for
bounty
on
the
bricks
they
are
requesting
a
closing
court
street
between
union
and
washington
street
on
saturday
august
twelfth
from
eight
a.m.
to
midnight.
For
this
event,
council
will
start
the
needed
legislation.

meeting
councilmember
poppy
informed
council
that
the
city
would
like
to
move
ahead
with
installation
of
traffic
signal
at
the
intersection
of
West
state
in
lancaster
street
to
ensure
pedestrian
safety
outside
the
middle
school
council
will
move
forward
with
this
ordinance
next
meeting
copy
moved
to
inform
council
about
the
needed
repairs
for
the
columbus
bike,
columbus
road
bike
paths,
for
this
repair
will
cover
the
damage
is
done
by
the
recent
flooding
and
cost
an
estimate.
Fourteen
thousand
dollars
the
repair
is
being
made,
will
decrease
the
possibility
of
future
damage.

engineer
and
public
works
department
would
like
to
dispose
of
two
vehicles
no
longer
needed
for
a
public
purpose.
These
vehicles
will
be
disposed
of
through
donation
to
another
government
agency
or
a
non-profit
organization.
By
auction,
sealed
bids,
traded
and
or
sell
for
scrap
the
council,
then
moved
to
Planning
and
Development
Committee
council
members
fall
will
be
introducing
the
first
reading
next,
an
amendment
of
city
code,
language
that
will
update
the
carbon
monoxide
and
smoke
detectors
to
adhere
to
state
standards
in
multifamily
and
single
unit
rental
properties.

be
introducing
amending
the
city
code
to
change
the
right
to
appeal,
a
garbage
and
rubbish
citation
from
72
hours
to
three
business
days.
Last
on
the
agenda
was
finance
in
personnel
committee
council
discussed
community
center
accessibility
improvements,
as
well
as
the
purchase
of
emplacement
of
parking
kiosks
on
West
Union
Street,
the
kiosks
will
accept
coins,
credit
cards
or
the
citizens
can
continue
to
use
the
city's
Park
mobile
app.
