city
council
meeting
highlights
on
Monday
April
temp
the
City
Council
held
committee
meetings,
opening
with
the
finance
in
personnel
committee
auditor
have
to
inform
council
that
there
is
approximately
six
hundred
and
forty-eight
thousand
dollars
in
a
debt
funds
from
the
1997
community
center
levy.
Legislation
will
be
needed
to
deposit
those
funds
into
the
new
revenue
fund
for
continued
use
for
the
facility.

city
will
also
create
a
fun
for
the
new
arts
parks
and
recreation
levy,
placing
sixty
percent
into
the
debt
fund
and
forty
percent
into
the
newly
created
sign
to
be
used
for
recreational
purposes
outlined
in
the
levy.

presented
the
zero-waste
pledge
to
council
this
project
conducts
facility
and
dumpster
audits
to
understand
where
and
how
waste
is
generated
and
then
targets
opportunities
for
waste
reduction,
recycling
and
composting
it's
approved.
There
will
be
an
audit
for
for
city
buildings.

approve
funding
for
the
audit
of
the
city
facilities.
Next
on
the
agenda
was
committee
of
the
whole
matt
green
executive
director
of
athens
community
television
presented
his
2016
annual
report,
highlighting
the
update
of
their
mobile
friendly
website.
Councilmember
fall
spoke
about
the
recent
loss
of
the
Appalachian
Regional
Commission
grant
funds
in
the
federal
budget.
Since
2007
the
city
has
received
over
1.9
million
dollars
in
the
aarc
grant
funding
necessary
to
complete
infrastructure
projects.
She
plans
to
introduce
a
resolution
of
support
to
reinstate
a
or
c
funding
in
the
federal
budget.

council
then
moved
to
the
Transportation
Committee
Jessica
Stroh
of
hot
tap,
presented
information
on
the
transportation
investment,
generating
economic
recovery,
grant
to
improve
Ohio's
rural
transit
system
scheduling
and
dispatching.
This
