To
give
you
your
City
Council
meeting
highlights
on
Monday
May
22nd.
The
council
met
in
special
session
and
held
committee
meetings,
the
session
open
with
ordinances
being
read
for
the
third
time,
so
those
ordinances
adopted
include
a
waterline
replacement
on
Avon
and
a
portion
of
Dalton
Avenue,
the
2017
street
paving
and
repairs
in
declaring
certain
items
at
the
wastewater
treatment
plant
no
longer
needed
for
City
Youth
Council
then
moved
to
ordinances
being
read.

For
the
second
time
the
council
proceeded
to
the
committee
portion
of
the
agenda,
beginning
with
the
city
and
safety
services
committee.
Opening
with
the
presentation
of
the
new
city
pool
construction
is
scheduled
to
start
immediately
after
the
current
pool
that
closes
for
the
season
in
August,
the
new
pool
will
feature
a
main
activity
pool
with
zero
entry
and
salt
chlorination
lap
lanes
in
a
deep
dive
pool.
The
new
pool
will
also
include
a
to
run
out
water,
slides,
a
climbing
wall,
a
taut
pool,
splash
grounds
and
shade
structures.

presentation
also
covered
the
aesthetics
of
the
pool
buildings
that
will
include,
among
other
amenities,
a
party
and
community
room
concessions
and
a
unisex
bathroom
council
plans
to
begin
an
ordinance
to
authorize
the
pool
construction
in
June.
Next
on
the
agenda
was
a
transportation
committee
city
engineer.
Andy
stone
has
requested
authorization
to
apply
for
a
Transportation
Improvement
District
grant
from
ODOT
to
assist
in
funding
the
installation
of
a
fiber-optic
network
in
the
Uptown
in
Richland
Avenue
area.

The
final
committee
of
the
evening
was
the
Finance
and
Personnel
Committee
Council
discussed
the
city's
transient
guests
tax
and
staffing
changes
in
the
police
department
due
to
an
impending
retirement
APD
is
requesting
to
reduce
the
number
of
lieutenants
from
six
to
five
and
increase
the
number
of
patrol
officers
from
19
to
20.
The
meeting
adjourned
at
8:45
in
the
next
meeting
will
be
June
5th.
