Mayor's Weekly Update - December 8, 2020
A
With
the
mayor,
it's
I
was
out
walking
around
right
after
lunch,
just
kind
of
checking
things
out
and
it's
brisk
outside,
but
it's
really
nice
to
see
the
sun
for
a
change.
So
I
encourage
you
to
get
out
and
enjoy
it.
Speaking
of
the
weather
kyle,
you
want
to
give
us
an
update
as
to
what
the
weather
could
look
like
over
the
course
of
the
next
seven
days.
B
B
A
And
you
certainly
called
the
the
snow
last
week,
which
was
was,
was
really
in
my
opinion
kind
of
refreshing
to
see
the
snow
come
down,
and
at
least
we
got.
I
don't
know
two
or
three
inches
of
snow,
at
least
at
least
kyle.
Can
you
give
us
an
update
on
the
corona
virus?
Please.
B
So
yesterday
there
were
over
25
000
new
positive
cases
and
how
alone
the
new
big
spikes
since
the
backlog.
Back
on
november
1st-
and
today
there
have
been
now
over
10
000
new
cases
and
over
80
new
dead
nationwide.
There
are
now
over
15.1
million
people
of
coba
19
in
the
united
states
and
almost
290
000
people,
deaf
cover,
19
and
globally.
A
Nice,
I
know
everyone's
looking
forward
to
the
vaccine
coming
out.
I
am
for
sure
me
too,
the
the
other
thing
related
to
the
coronaviruses.
A
Yesterday
there
was
a
pop-up
testing
at
the
fairgrounds
which
ran
between
noon
and
4
p.m,
and
my
last
check-in,
with
the
administrator
for
the
athens
city
county
health
department,
was
that
they
had
more
than
600
people
come
through
the
the
testing
to
be
tested.
So
that
was
wonderful
to
hear
that
that
they
had
that
many
people
come
and
take
advantage
of
a
ace
and
no
symptom
there,
weren't
really
no
requirements.
A
Anybody
could
do
it
from
age
two
on
up,
of
course,
the
younger
ones
had
to
be
there
with
a
a
guardian
or
parent
a
parent.
I
I
should
also
mention
with
that
level
of
testing.
In
one
day
here
in
the
county,
we
could
are
likely
to
see
an
even
greater
increase
in
positive
cases
in
athens
county
once
the
testing
comes
back
from
that
600
plus
wave
of
people
that
came
through
to
be
tested,
so
so
we'll
keep
tracking.
A
That
for
sure,
I
always
look
for
ruth
deading's
report
that
she
gives
out
from
the
athens
city
county
health
department,
as
well
as
from
the
state
in
terms
of
what
our
numbers
are
looking
like
here
in
the
city
of
athens
kyle.
I
know
that
you're,
an
avid
sports
fan
any
sport
updates
coming
out
of
ohio
university.
A
Great,
thank
you
kyle.
As
usual,
I
really
appreciate
your
weather
covet
and
sports
updates
for
our
viewing
audience.
So
thank
you
today,
just
as
a
heavy
news
day
today
or
in
terms
of
updates,
I
do
need
to
remind
people
that
the
stimson
avenue
columbia
gas
project
is
still
underway.
I
know
there's
a
lot
of
work
going
on
on
east
state
street
in
form
in
front
of
the
democratic
headquarters.
A
That
is
the
water
line
replacement
project.
I
know
they're
they're
currently
starting
to
replace
the
bricks
that
were
removed,
open
the
ground
up
to
make
those
improvements,
so
hopefully
that
project
will
wrap
up
soon
with
the
columbia
gas
for
this
week,
we're
looking
at
stimson
avenue
and
palmer
street
being
the
affected
areas
with
the
columbia
gas
line,
replacement,
daily
closures
on
palmer
street
between
stimson
and
mill
street.
The
traffic
will
be
detoured
around
that.
A
A
A
I
also
want
to
remember
or
remind
individuals
that
you
can
sign
up
for
nixle
get
on
nixel
nixle
is
great
when
it
comes
to
pushing
out
all
kinds
of
information,
other
things
going
on
in
the
city
things
going
on
in
the
county
and
you
can
text
seven
zero.
One.
A
Two,
not
the
number,
two
to
eight
eight,
eight,
seven,
seven,
seven
to
sign
up
again
text:
four:
five:
seven:
zero
one
to
the
number,
eight
eight,
eight,
seven,
seven,
seven
jump
on
nixle.
I
get
all
kinds
of
information
from
nixle
all
the
time
and
and
so
therefore
encouraging
you
to
do
that
as
well.
A
The
one
last
update
and
thank
you
scott
for
pushing
this
out
to
me
and
ryan.
A
Thanks
for
all
the
wonderful
work
that
you
do
with
the
government
channel,
there
are
currently
647
known,
active
cases
here
in
athens,
county
1820,
recovered
cases,
so
keep
in
mind
that
now's
not
the
time
to
let
down
our
guard
when
it
comes
to
the
coronavirus
here
in
athens
and
in
athens
county,
we'll
repeat
this
as
long
and
as
often
as
I
need
to,
and
that
is
to
make
sure
that
when
you
are
out
out
and
about
make
sure,
you've
got
a
mask
handy
and
if
you're
out
in
public,
outside
your
vehicle
entering
into
a
store
in
a
store
and
returning
back
to
your
vehicle
to
make
sure
you've
got
your
mask
on
and
worn
properly
over
your
mouth
and
nose
and
wash
your
hands
frequently.
A
I
keep
a
bottle
a
little
bottle
of
sanitizer
in
my
vehicle
and
I'm
using
it
frequently
to
make
sure
that
I
am
not
the
one
spreading
things
around
trying
to
to
also
minimize
the
amount
of
times.
I
I
contact
my
own
face,
touch
my
face
and
social
distance
and,
like
I
said,
wash
your
hands
frequently.
A
We
can
get
through
this.
We
will
get
through
this
and
I
am
really
wanting
people
to
be
mindful
so
that
you
know
during
this
holiday
season,
come
next
year
during
the
holiday
season,
you're,
not
looking
at
empty
chairs
around
your
table
for
people
who
unfortunately
became
unknowingly
exposed.
