Description
Mayor's Press Conference June 10, 2020
A
Good
afternoon
welcome
once
again
in
the
mayor's
weekly
press
conference.
It
is
Wednesday
at
2
o'clock.
It
is
absolutely
beautiful
outside,
although
the
temperature
is
a
little
on
the
toasty
side
right
now
and
as
it
was
yesterday
and
is
usual,
I've
got
Ryan
Johansen
here
to
give
us
the
outcomes
to
all
things.
B
B
B
A
A
So
those
are
the
compost
items
that
you're
looking
at
and
I
do
want
to
remind
everybody
that
the
compost
program
is
an
opt-out
program
in
which
you
can
easily
opt
out
by
contacting
the
city
at
compost
at
CI,
Athens,
dot,
o
H
dot.
U
s
again,
that
is
compost
at
CI,
Athens
dot,
o
H
dot!
U
s!
Please
include
your
name,
your
address
and
your
utility
bill.
Id
number!
A
If
you
know
it,
individuals
will
likely
be
in
contact
with
you
if
they
need
more
information
about
your
opting
out,
but
just
keep
that
in
mind
that
this
is
an
opt-out
program,
so
opt
out.
If
you
choose
not
to
be
a
part
of
the
program.
Thank
you
guys.
The
other
updates
I
guess
to
give
you
is
the
Richland
Avenue
pedestrian
passageway
project
is
still
well
underway.
We
showed
a
slide
deck
not
too
long
ago.
Progress
is
still
moving
forward
on
that
to
the
best
of
my
knowledge,
that's
a
project
that
has
not
slipped
any.
A
It's
still
tracking
for
a
September
11th
completion
date
so
more
to
follow
on
that
and
hopefully,
in
the
not
too
distant
future,
we
can
an
update,
slide
deck
on
how
things
are
looking
down,
so
the
detour
certainly
is
still
in
effect.
The
other
thing
to
share
is
that
the
community
center
is
still
looking
to
reopen
and
we
encourage
people
to
go
to
the
city's
website
for
updates
for
the
athens
community
center
and
everything
arts,
Parks
and
Recreation.
As
to
the
reopening
of
certain
elements
within
the
world
of
arts,
parks
and
recreation.
A
So
again
encourage
you
to
go
to
the
website
and
you
can
easily
check
that
out
or
anything
else
for
the
matter
going
on
around
the
city
and
then
finally,
the
Athens
Municipal,
Arts
Commission,
is
meeting
this
evening
this
evening,
they're
meeting
at
5:30
I
believe
that's
correct
and
it's
5:30,
and
we
encourage
you
if
you're
interested
in
attending,
you
can
zoom
into
that
meeting
again.
This
is
open
to
the
public.
A
What
we're
going
to
be
working
on
in
the
near
future
is
making
sure
that
we
are
able
to
post
speaking
of
AMAC,
making
sure
that
we
can
post
openings
on
our
boards
and
commissions
to
where
we're
looking
people
for
people
who
want
to
volunteer
to
serve
on
one
of
the
many
boards
and
commissions
for
the
city
of
Athens,
and
that
way
we
can
align
that
and
better
better,
better
publicize
areas
where
we
are
looking
for
people
to
serve
on
the
various
boards
and
commissions.
A
So
we'll
start
doing
our
work
on
that
as
we
move
forward
other
than
that
I
don't
have
anything
else
to
share
with
you.
Thank
you
for
tuning
in
and
please
join
me
next
week
for
the
next
installment
of
the
mayor's
weekly
press
conference
have
a
great
rest
of
your
week
and
a
wonderful
weekend.
Take
care.
