Description
Mayor's Press Conference - March 1, 2023
A
A
Good
afternoon
welcome
once
again
to
it's
summer
in
Athens,
with
Kyle
Johansen
and
the
mayor,
you
know
going
outside
I
just
finished,
giving
a
tour
of
vehicle
tour
driving
around
the
first
candidate
who's.
Who
is
here
visiting
potential
president
of
Ohio
University,
and
it's
it's
like
it's
like
summer,
I'm
just
going
to
call
it
what
it
is
it's
like
being
out
there
in
summer,
I
was
driving
up,
East
State
Street
the
other
day
coming
to
work.
A
B
So
today
we
got
class
and
some
this
morning
we'll
give
away
to
more
class
four
this
afternoon,
a
stray
shower
or
storm
as
possible.
I
have
77,
but,
and
so
now
we
got
showers
and
thunderstorms
are
possible
in
variable
clouds,
but
a
chance
of
showers
overnight
below
48.
chance
of
rain
70
percent
Friday.
We
got
probably
Cloudy
Skies
high
of
60
low
39.
B
Friday.
We
got
rain
conditions
high
of
57
1237
Saturday.
We
got
Cloudy
Skies
high
of
50
low
33.
Sunday.
We
gotta
probably
call
you
Skies
High
56
Low
32.
Monday.
We
got
probably
Chloe
Skies
out
of
64.
Well
46.
you
save!
Next
week
we
got
mostly
close
guys:
Highway
56
1234
index
Wednesday,
High
51
low
29,
with
private
cars,
guys
in
sports.
B
A
B
A
All
right:
how
about
covered
any
updates?
No
we're
done
Kyle
is
done.
We're
done
with
covet
I'm
tired
of
talking
about
it.
We're
not
gonna,
discuss
it
any
further,
all
right
Kyle!
Thank
you.
Thanks
for
all
things,
whether
OU,
Athletics
and
being
done
with
covert
all
right.
A
couple
things
I
think
I've
mentioned
this
before,
but
certainly
going
to
Echo
it
again,
and
that
is
that
on
the
24th
of
March,
there's
going
to
be
The
Ridges
development
strategy
meeting.
A
This
is
for
The
Ridges
framework
plan,
which
was
approved
back
in
2015
and
has
been
significantly
updated,
so
really
encouraging
people
to
come.
It's
going
to
be
at
The,
Ridges,
building
14.
On
the
second
floor,
it's
a
town,
hall
style
meeting
for
all
University
and
community
members,
and
it
will
be
from
2
to
4,
P.M
2
P.M
to
4
P.M.
Again,
it's
in
building
14.
access
community
members
are
asked
to
go
through
the
entrance
of
building
19
to
get
into
the
building.
A
So
I
will
be
there
for
sure,
because
I
wasn't
able
to
attend
the
February
21st
meeting
where
there
was
two
meetings.
One
was
for
the
university
community
and
the
other
was
for
the
Athens
community,
but
this
is
a
joint
meeting,
so
this
is
going
to
be
your
last
chance
to
kind
of
see
what
and
listen
to
what
the
thought
process
is
for
The
Ridges
as
it
moves
forward,
which
is
pretty
exciting
and
I'm,
really
hopeful
that
we
finally
see
some
movement
with
our
beloved
kirkbride
building
cities,
drinking
water.
A
Again,
it's
safe,
it's
clean
it.
You
know
recognizing
what
happened
in
East
Palestine.
A
A
Evacuation
if
it
was
necessary
due
to
a
rail
car
derailment
and
potential
spill
as
an
exercise,
so
we're
I
know
that
the
Don
Gossel
over
at
the
EMA
Emergency
Management
agency
is
orchestrating
that
so
I'm
sure
more
to
come
as
that
develops
and
as
time
draws
near
for
that
exercise,
North
Shaffer
Street
storm
water
improvements.
This
is
a
project
that
has
been
going
on
for
a
little
bit
now
a
little
bit
for
a
while.
A
The
project
includes
replacement
of
a
pretty
deep
storm
tunnel
on
North
Shafer
between
West,
State,
Street
and
Bee
yard
or
buyered,
but
it
was
beard
I'm
working
to
the
work
is
expected
to
commence
again
on
the
third,
so
that
would
be
this
Friday.
You
know
that's
hard
to
think
about.
Isn't
that
Kyle
today
is
the
first
of
March
yeah.
A
Whatever
this
year
is
flying
and
it'll
continue
through
the
spring
of
2023.
So
keep
that
in
mind.
They
do
have
flaggers
down
there
they're
directing
traffic
when
they
do
have
to
have
a
lane
closure.
So
keep
that
in
the
front
of
your
mind,
if
you're
commuting
through
the
West
Side
Community
Center,
they
want
to
hear
from
you,
the
community
center
is
feeding
is,
is
seeking
feedback
on
Fitness
classes
that
they
offer
at
the
community
center.
A
The
purpose
of
the
survey
is
to
understand
what
group
fitness
classes
would
be
best
to
bring
our
community-based
based
upon
bring
to
our
community
based
upon
current
interests,
so
they're.
Looking
for
your
input,
you
can
go
to
the
parks
and
rec
section
of
the
city's
website
and
find
that
survey.
So
please
fill
it
out.
I'm
sure
that
Arts
Parks
direct
director,
Catherine
Ann
Jordan,
really
wants
to
get
as
much
feedback
as
is
possible.
Next
week.
The
mayor's
partnership
for
progress
is
meeting
on
Wednesday
up
in
Columbus.
A
It's
our
legislative
advocacy
day
to
where
we'll
be
there.
The
meeting
is
going
to
start
at
9
00
a.m.
Up
at
right
across
from
the
State
House
and
our
first
guest
that
we're
going
to
see
will
be
Lieutenant,
Governor,
John
Houston.
We
also
have
other
directors
from
from
the
governor's
cabinet.
We're
going
to
be
coming
coming
to
speak
to
us.
I
believe
that
director
Lydia
maholic
of
OD,
the
Ohio
Department
of
development,
will
be
there
as
well.
A
That's
kind
of
all
I
have
for
today
other
than
the
schedule
of
meetings
that
are
upcoming.
The
Athens
City
sustainability
commission
is
meeting
today
at
6
pm.
It
will
be
in
council
chambers,
the
Planning
Commission.
We
will
be
meeting
here
in
council
chambers
tomorrow
at
noon,
as
is
typical,
unless
we
don't
have
anything
on
the
agenda
and
I
believe
we
do
have
several
items
on
the
upcoming
agenda.
Again:
that's
noon
to
1
or
1
30,
depending
on
how
much
we
have
on
our
docket
and
then
finally,
the
Athens
city
council.
A
That
is
televised
here
by
the
wonderful
Athens
government
Channel
with
Scott
and
Ryan
doing
such
a
fine
job,
a
question
for
you
Ryan
or
Ryan
Scott,
since
you're
sitting
in
the
back,
the
government
channel
is
no
longer
Spectrum,
1024
or
10
25
or
whatever
the
channel
is
we're
still
on
okay,
someone
approached
me
and
said:
oh
we're
not
on
Spectrum
anymore,
so
no
good
so
dispel
that
myth.
