From YouTube: Mayor's Press Conference April 12th, 2017
Description
Athens City Mayor Steve Patterson addresses the public in his weekly press conference.
A
A
So
give
you
an
idea
as
to
what
things
are
going
to
be.
Looking
like,
through
the
weekend
number
of
things
going
on
that
evolved
or
involve
epw
engineering
and
Public
Works
West
Union
Street
improvement
project
is
going
on
as
we
speak,
there
will
be
some
sidewalk
sections,
it
will
be
closed
and
pedestrians
detours.
That
detours
will
be
in
place
to
remind
everyone.
Once
again,
this
is
a
rolling
work
site
or
rolling
construction
work
zone
going
to
be
maintaining
at
least
fifty
percent
of
the
parking
per
side.
A
I
think
I
mentioned
last
week
that
the
construction
on
the
south
side
is
anticipated,
being
completed
by
May,
first
and
and
it'll
transition
to
the
north
side
of
the
street,
and
the
construction
will
continue
down
that
particular
sign
several
things
going
on
in
the
Uptown
area
and
across
the
city.
This
weekend
the
international
street
fest
is
being
held,
Saturday,
April,
25th,
actually
nope,
April,
fifteenth,
sorry
about
that
April
fifteenth,
the
location
is
going
to
be
court
street
between
mulberry
and
Washington
Street
on
Court
Street
it'll
be
closed
to
vehicular
traffic
in
that
area.
A
The
event
will
take
place
from
noon
to
five
PM.
Please
come
out.
This
is
always
a
great
event.
I
know
that
the
interim
president
for
high
university,
David,
dis,
Kutner
and
I
will
both
be
giving
some
opening
remarks
for
this
event
right
at
the
intersection
of
court
and
Union
great
event
being
all
nations
and
most
nations
from
around
the
globe
or
being
represented
during
the
international
street
for
us
and
lots
of
good
food
so
come
one
come
all
spring
clean
up,
April
24th
through
the
28th.
A
So
next
week
rolling
in
next
week,
residents
can
put
out
unlimited
numbers
of
unlimited
number
of
bags
of
trash
to
the
curb
side
during
normal
collection
date.
So
whenever
your
trash
collection
normally
gets
picked
up,
you
can
put
out
extra
without
charge
large
items,
those
such
as
furnitures
or
furniture
mattresses.
There
will
be
a
charge
associated
with
that
special
Hall
charges
apply.
Dumpsters
are
available
to
the
city
residents
at
the
service
garage.
A
A
A
This
is
a
front
and
center
is
completely
free
and
provides
children
with
an
open
straight
stage
for
solo
and
ensemble
arts
acts.
This
month
will
be
featuring
again.
Belinda
sterling
and
Theodore
Owen
on
the
piano
fun
afternoon
of
activity
for
the
whole
family.
So
come
on
out
again:
arts,
West
arts
West,
if
you
don't
know
as
123
or
132
west
state
street
here
in
Athens,
some
other
events
going
on
the
League
of
Women
Voters,
has
scheduled
a
voter
forum
for
April
eighteenth.
A
This
is
it
730
in
the
Athens
Public
Library,
the
forum
will
feature
two
candidates
who
are
running
for
the
city
for
City
Council
in
the
Third
Ward.
So
this
is
a
contested
Democratic
primary.
So
for
anyone
is
interested
mark
your
calendar
for
April
eighteenth.
There
is
also
another
league
of
women
voters
sponsored.
A
Open
forum,
also
at
the
public
library,
it
is
April
25th
at
seven-thirty
at
the
library-
and
this
is
for
for
Democratic
candidates
for
the
at-large
city
city,
council,
at-large,
race,
the
there
are
no
open
forums
for
the
Republican
candidates
going
into
the
primary
because
they
are
uncontested
for
those
that
are
running
just
to
get
that
out.
There
make
sure
everyone
is
tracking
and
aware
of
that.
The
Athens
Municipal
Art
Commission
is
its
monthly
meeting.
Is
tonight
up
at
arts
west
tonight,
April
twelfth
it's
from
5
30
to
7
p.m.
A
and
this
is
also
open
to
the
public.
With
regards
to
our
public
art
throughout
the
city,
new
initiatives,
existing
initiatives
and
things
of
that
nature,
as
it
pertains
to
our
environment,
that's
pretty
much
all
I
have
do
you
want
to
make
everyone
remind
everyone
of
my
water
pledge,
calm
the
pledge
that
I'm
encouraging
everyone
to
take
in
terms
of
being
more
water,
conservative
using
less
water?
You
know
this
is
a
pledge
that
I've
put
forward.
It's
an
easy
thing
to
do.
Go
online!
Take
a
short
survey.
A
It
also
talks
you,
through
some
of
the
things
you
can
do
to
help
conserve
water
such
as
again,
not
letting
the
water
run
when
you're
brushing
your
teeth
or
taking
a
shorter
shower
or
things
of
that
nature.
So
please
go
online.
Go
to
my
water
pledge.
Calm,
take
the
pledge,
because
there's
a
lot
of
interesting
prizes
that
the
city
is
eligible
for
that
we
could
win.
A
If
we
get
enough
people
to
take
the
pledge,
as
it's
being
tracked,
is
the
nationwide
pledge,
but
in
particular
I'm
reaching
out
to
anyone
who's
watching
to
make
sure
that
you
take
that
pledge.
That's
all
I
have
for
today.
Thank
you
for
tuning
in
and
hopefully
you'll
tune
in
again
next
week,
and
you
know
I'm
sure
we
could
have
nice
weather
the
next
week.
At
least
the
forecast
is
looking
that
way.
