A
Good
afternoon
and
welcome
once
again
to
the
mayor's
press
conference,
it
is
Wednesday
April,
26
I
was
sitting
there
laughing
at
myself,
because
I
thought
it
was
the
25th
for
some
strange
reason:
it's
the
26th
today
it's
gorgeous
outside
it's
all
I
got
to
say
it's
about
82
degrees.
I
just
walked
one
into
Court
Street
to
the
other,
and
again
it's
fantastic
out
there
tomorrow,
not
so
well
give
me
thunderstorms.
A
Tomorrow,
the
temperature
is
still
going
to
be
decent
75
low
of
50
Friday,
partly
cloudy
Saturday
want
wha,
scattered
thunderstorms,
go
figure,
77
degrees
and
then
Sunday's,
mostly
cloudy
high
of
85,
so
welcome
to
being
well
embedded
into
the
springtime
along.
This
is
going
to
be
similar
to
what
was
presented
that
I
provided
to
everyone.
Last
Wednesday,
for
there
are
a
few
updates
coming
from
engineering
and
Public
Works,
the
McKinley
Avenue
extension
Stimson
Avenue
roundabout
project.
Again
this
is
project
302.
A
The
project
is
going
to
be
managed
in
two
phases
worth
keeping
in
mind:
phase
1
a
is
the
Stimson
Avenue
roundabout.
So
that's
going
to
be
the
roundabout
being
built
itself.
This
project
includes
construction
of
a
roundabout
on
Stimson
Avenue
and
proposed
McKinley
Avenue
intersection,
so
the
McKinley
Avenue
construction
is
what's
under
phase
1,
be
during
the
phase
1
a
we're
going
to
see
Stimpson
Avenue
being
closed
between
McKinley
Avenue
and
Rock
River
Road,
and
this
is
going
to
be
early
May
to
mid
July
vehicles
and
pedestrian
detours
will
be
in
place.
A
A
It's
going
to
be
the
longer
phase
of
the
project
and
that
during
that
time,
McKinley
Avenue
we'll
be
closed
and
once
again
vehicle
and
pedestrian
detours
will
be
in
place
and
as
mentioned,
we
will
certainly
keep
everyone
apprised
of
the
rerouting
of
traffic
as
well
as
pedestrian
foot
traffic
through
that
area.
The
West
Union
improvements.
This
is
project
305
that
is
still
underway
currently
underway.
A
During
that
time,
accesses
to
visit
businesses
and
residents
they're
going
to
be
maintained,
they're
still
open,
there's
passage
through
that
area,
but
there's
times
in
which
a
sidewalk
section
will
be
closed
to
the
pedestrians,
but
detour
signage
again
will
be
in
place.
I
noticed
today
that
the
concrete
work
still
behind
fence,
but
the
concrete
worked
for
the
ramp
that
comes
down
to
the
corner.
A
Another
thing
kind
of
circling
around
to
some
other
Street
closings
or
issues
around
the
city,
this
the
rescheduled,
the
Madison
Avenue
closure.
This
is
between
East,
8th
Street
and
Franklin
Avenue
closed
today
from
started
this
morning
at
8:00
a.m.
and
will
go
will
continue
on
until
the
the
water
main
repair
is
taken
place.
There
is
no
emergency
or
through
traffic
in
this
area.
Again,
you
can
reach
out
to
engineering
and
Public
Works.
A
A
Some
other
things
going
on.
This
is
move
out
week.
If
you
hadn't
noticed,
graduation
exercises
are
going
to
be
the
this
Friday
and
Saturday.
The
28th
and
the
29th
residents
are
moving
out,
can
take
all
their
recyclables
non-perishable
food
items,
furniture,
mattresses,
etc.
Two
locations
throughout
the
city.
We
encourage
you
to
go
to
WWII
OED,
you
move
out
and
you
can
find
a
location
near
you
to
take.
Your
gently
used
are
seriously
years
but
reusable
items.
A
Please
take
advantage
of
these
drop-off
sites
for
move
out
week.
Another
Ohio
Department
of
Transportation
PSA
that
I
want
to
push
out
there
in
this
beginning,
May
1
so
right
around
the
corner,
us
33,
westbound
entrance
ramp
at
East,
State
Street
in
the
Alpha
in
Athens
County
well
in
the
city
of
Athens,
will
be
closed
for
concrete
pavement.
Installation
anticipated
completion
date
of
this
westbound
entrance
ramp
at
East,
8th
Street
will
be
May
15th.
A
So
it's
going
to
take
a
little
bit
time
two
weeks
and
then
that
project
will
be
wrapped
up
the
detour,
for
this
is
going
to
be
travel
east
on
East,
8th
Street,
take
the
ramp
for
us,
50
westbound
and
then
take
the
ramp
for
us
33
westbound,
so
you
can.
The
workaround
is
there
so
take
advantage
of
that
again.
A
A
If
you
have
any
questions
about
the
household
household,
hazardous
waste
collection
or
drop-off,
you
can
reach
out
to
Roger
Bale,
who
is
the
Operations
Coordinator
for
the
Athens
Hocking
Solid
Waste
District.
He
can
be
reached
at
seven
four:
zero,
seven,
five,
three
three:
three:
four
zero
I
take
that
back
seven:
five:
three,
six,
eight
eight
five!
You
can
reach
out
to
the
service
safety
director
Paul
around
Moseley
for
her.
You
can
reach
her
at
some
four
zero:
five,
nine
two
three
three
four
zero
or
two
Ron
Lucas
deputy
service,
Safety
Director.
A
A
Difficult
talking
today
is
starts
on
June
13th.
The
coaches
meeting
will
be
held,
May
30th,
so
whoever
is
managing
those
teams
come
on
down
to
the
city
building
and
that
will
be
May
30th
at
6:00
p.m.
gay
nights
are
going
to
be
Tuesdays
and
Thursdays
at
the
wits.
West
State,
Street,
ball
fields,
field
1,
infield
to
the
league
limit,
is
16
teams.
So
if
you've
heard
that
there's
other
teams
vying
to
get
on,
you
might
as
well
hustle
on
down
there
and
get
your
get.
A
Your
team
registered
youth,
t-ball
and
coach
pitch
registration
is
going
on
now
until
May
21st,
the
fee
for
that
is
$35
per
child
for
kids
5
to
9.
The
season
starts
June
12th,
so
it's
coming
up.
The
the
t-ball
will
play
mondays
and
wednesdays.
Coach
pitched
plays
tuesdays
and
thursdays.
All
games
again
are
going
to
be
played
down
at
the
s
field,
West,
8th,
Street,
ball
fields,
three
rivers
and
riverfront
baseball
diamonds.
A
If
you
have
any
questions
about
a
softball
or
t-ball
or
coach
pitch,
you
can
reach
out
to
Aaron
Helms
at
Helm's
at

or
you
can

Laramie

This
is
going
on
at
arts.
West
Adams
high
school,
along
with
the
ABC
players,
is
presenting.
A
Presenting
The

brings
a
staged
reading

The

members
of
the
techtronic
theater
project
based
on
a
true
story
of
hate
crimes
and
the
trial
of
Matthew
Shepard
should
be
interesting
times
or
7:30
p.m.
to
10:00
p.m.
again.
This
is
at
arts
West
at
132,
West,
State
Street,
so
come
on
down
for
that
a
couple
last
items
I
want
to
share
with
everyone,
and
that
is
that
we
have
again
some
community
in
committee
or
service
opportunities.
A
We
have
the
environmental
and
sustainability
Commission.
We
have
one
position
available
if
anybody
is
interested
in
serving
on
that
Commission,
please
reach
out
to
the
clerk
of
Council
of
W
Walker.
You
can
reach
her
at
D
Walker
at
C.
I
am
so
H,
calm,
nope,
not
us
Community,
Relations
Committee
our
Commission
one
position
there
again
you
can
reach
out
to
the
clerk
of
Council
if
you're
interested
in
serving
on
the
Community,
Relations,
Commission
and
then.
A
Finally,
the
joint
police
advisory
council
has
three
positions:
one
for
an
individual
who
serves
as
a
landlord
one
unrepresented
constituency
and
the
third
one
is
Athens
city
resident
representative.
For
that
you
can
reach
out
to
my
office.
You
can
contact
me
or
you
can
contact
petty
Whitmer

Whitmer
at
CI,
Athens,

o
H
dot.
U
s!
A
The
last
thing
that
I
want
to
mention.
Everyone
is
just
a
reminder
that
we're
kind
of
wrapping
up
you
know
coming
to
a
close
close
to
the
end
of
the
month
soon
anyway,
and
that
this
is
still
water
conservation
month.
I
still
encourage
people
to
take
a
pretty
simple
pledge
to
conserve
water,
at
least
through
the
remainder
of
the
month,
but
really,
let's
be
real,
conserve
water
all
the
time.
It's
a
simple
pledge
where
you
go
on
it'll.
A
Take
you
five
minutes
max
to
sit
there
and
answer
some
very
simple
questions:
making
the
challenge
that
you
pledge
to
conserve
water
by
taking
shorter
showers
turning
off
the
water,
while
you're
brushing
your
teeth,
a
number
of
different
things
that
will
help
not
only
our
community
but
will
help
the
world.
Please
go
to
my
water
pledge
calm,
which
is
what
you
can
use
to
access
the
pledge
again.
My
water
pledge
com
pick
a
pledge
challenge
yourself,
challenge
your
friends
and
see
how
much
water
we
can
conserve
now
and
hopefully
for
the
long
haul.
