Mayor's Weekly Update - June 23, 2021
A
B
So
today,
look
for
probably
cloudy
high
of
75
tonight,
probably
cloudy
well
56
tomorrow,
mostly
sunny
high
of
85
tomorrow
night,
partly
cloudy
low
62
friday,
probably
cloudy.
I
have
85
friday
night,
mostly
cloudy
low
of
67
saturday,
cloudy
high
of
85
saturday
night,
probably
cloudy
low
69
sunday,
probably
cloudy.
I
have
87
sunday
night,
scattered
storms,
low
68,
monday,
scattered
storms,
584
monday
night,
scattered
storms,
low
68.,
two
state,
scattered
storms,
type
83,
tuesday,
night
scattered
storms,
low
66
and
next
wednesday,
scattered
storms,
81
and
low
65,
scattered
storms,
chronovirus
cases
in
ohio.
B
B
139.7
million
cases,
3.2
million
deaths
and
now
cdc
confirmed
that
the
most
contagious
more
concerning
variant
is
the
delta,
because
it's
60
transmitted
inside
then
outside
and
the
vaccines
that
people
that
got
vaccine
will
be
protected
and
we
are
worried
about.
The
people
are
not
vaccinated.
Quite
yet.
A
Nice
and
kyle
your
backdrop
behind
you,
you
and
I
attended
a
really
nice
pleasant
event
on
saturday.
I
believe
I'm
not
mistaken.
A
Juneteenth
and
there's
kyle
hanging
out
with
rufus
and
they're,
both
sporting,
the
juneteenth
ohio
university
juneteen
t-shirts,
which
was
was
a
really
really
pleasant
event.
A
All
you
did
the
anti-rain
dance,
I'm
sure
before
that
event,
kyle
thanks
for
everything
as
usual,
and
if
I'm
not
mistaken,
we
have
one
more
update
city
update
next
week
and
then
you
head
away
for
a
nice
vacation.
A
Right
july
14th
we
will
be
finally
back
in
person
broadcasting
out
of
council
chambers,
so
we
will
revert
back
to
the
press
conference
weekly
press
conference
with
the
mayor.
So
thank
you,
kyle
see
you
not
if
not
sooner.
A
So
some
updates
for
things
that
have
been
going
on
did
go
on
earlier,
but
then
I'll
give
some
updates
on
other
things
that
you
can
expect
in
the
near
future.
First
off
is
the
ribbon
cutting
ceremony
that
we
had
for
the
micro
grid
down
at
the
near
the
water
treatment
plant.
A
Who
is
a
representative
or
the
the
lead
for
woda,
which
was
the
company
that
did
all
of
the
installation
of
this
battery
backup
system,
and
that
is
one
of
the
that's
the
ceo
for
third
sun
solar
that
was
involved
in
this
project
as
well.
A
So
it's
a
great
event
great
to
to
finally
launch
this
system
and
add
to
the
resilience
of
one
of
our
probably
most
vital
city
assets,
the
water
treatment
plant,
other
things
going
on
the
stimson
avenue,
cornell
or
cornwell.
Sorry
street
intersection
closure.
That's
going
on
as
we
speak,
it
will
reopen
at
6
30..
The
intersection
will
be
closed
again
june,
24th
between
7
00
a.m
and
6
30
p.m.
A
Again,
so
just
know
that
trucker
construction
is
down
there
doing
utility
installation
in
that
area,
so
there
there
will
be
some
intersection
closures
and
for
anything
related
to
construction
projects
in
the
city,
in
particular
the
stenton
avenue
project.
Please
reach
out
to
engineering
and
public
works
at
593-7636,
athens
city
fireworks
will
be
july
3rd.
A
They
will
begin
at
10
p.m,
for
the
fabulous
fourth
annual
firework
display
so
come
and
check
it
out
lots
of
vantage
points
around
the
city
I've
last
year.
I
believe
my
wife
and
and
kids
went
down
to
the
practice
field
off
of
the
stimson
avenue
roundabout
and
had
a
decent
vantage
point
to
observe
them,
but
there's
lots
of
places
you
can
go
and
check
them
out.
The
other
thing
to
share
with
you
is
that
the
city
pool
will
be
free
on
the
3rd
as
well
as
on
the
4th
of
july,
so
free
to
the
public.
A
This
is
kind
of
cool
ryan
was
down,
taking
some
photos
of
the
the
kick
the
kickoff
for
lessons
so
june
21st.
A
They
had
the
first
day
of
swim
lessons
and
it
was
a
huge
success
here
again
you
see
some
of
the
kids
learning
to
swim
with
the
lifeguards,
and
there
is
the
director
for
arts
parks
and
recreation,
terry
moore
herself,
giving
instruction
to
some
of
these
new
or
maybe
slightly
advanced
swimmers.
I
don't
know
what
what
level
at
which
those
kids
are
being
instructed
at,
but
anyway,
you
know
a
great
time
to
be
down
at
the
pool.
A
A
The
splash
pad
is
still
not
open
to
the
public
because
we
do
have
some
issues
with
the
newly
painted
surface
of
the
splash
pad,
which
needed
to
be
done,
but
we
until
we
can
get
a
grit
surface
application
on
that
splash
pad
it
will
have
to
remain
closed,
but
we'll
get
it
back
open,
I'm
sure
soon,
as
we
go
into
the
july
time
frame,
if
not
sooner
another
thing
just
to
mention
real
quick.
A
The
northeast
ohio,
public
energy
council,
energized
communities
grant
that
we
get
we've
received
it,
I
think,
three
years
in
a
row
and
we're
hopeful
to
receive
it
again
for
this
year.
A
The
most
recent
was
a
street
light
project
on
townsend,
eden
and
grand
park,
and
this
is
between
east
state
street
and
dalton
to
where
the
mid
blocks
on
those
particular
streets.
The
grid
power
grid
doesn't
run
north
south.
It
runs
east-west
along
jacob's,
dalton
and
obviously
east
state
street.
So
with
that
with
those
streets
in
particular,
the
long
stretch
you
know
has
the
middle
of
the
block
is
not
well
lit,
so
we
were
able
to
take
the
grant
funding
installed.
A
Six,
solar
powered
street
lights,
decorative
street
lights
and
I've
gone
down
there
and
looked
at
them
in
the
evening,
and
they
they
served
their
purpose
rather
well.
I
would
say
so
great
addition
and
hopefully
we'll
be
successful
in
getting
four
more
in
the
near
future,
for
more
lights
and
put
those
in.
A
A
So
if
they,
if
they
do
well,
you
know
who
knows
we
could
find
other
places
throughout
the
city
where
we
have
need
where
we
don't
have
the
power
grid
running
in
a
optimal
direction,
to
be
able
to
get
some
mid-block
lighting
in
the
city
so
check
it
out
if
you're
out
and
about
it's
like,
I
said,
I
think
it's
pretty
cool.
Finally,
I
want
to
give
a
personal
shout
out
to
my
wife
connie,
whose
birthday
is
friday,
happy
birthday,
connie
patterson.
A
That's
all
I've
got
for
today.
All
I
have
for
today.
So
please
join
kyle
and
myself
again
next
week
for
the
next.
