Description
Mayor's Weekly Update May 19, 2021
A
B
B
B
tuesday
night,
probably
cloudy
well
64.
and
next
wednesday,
scattered
storms,
586
and
low
of
60
with
scattered
storms.
Chronovirus
cases
in
ohio
today
is
the
fifth
day
straight.
The
case
has
been
under
1
000
since
last
friday:
zero,
no
active
cases,
yes
in
athens,
county
59
deaths,
nationwide,
there's
now,
33
million
cases,
587
000
deaths
and
globally,
200
million
cases,
2.1
million
deaths
and
then
cdc
announced
that
if
we
vaccinate
people
can
attend
all
things
100
capacity,
it
could
be
inside
church
services.
B
B
A
That
is
the
big
news
of
the
week.
I
mean
when
I
heard
last
thursday
about
the
governor
planning
to
walk
back
most
of
the
orders
or
all
of
them.
You
know
I've
been
receiving
lots
of
phone
calls
from
citizens
and
from
businesses
as
to
what
the
city
is
going
to
be
doing,
and
I
would
encourage
people
to
attend
or
watch.
I
should
say,
watch
city
council
this
monday
night,
as
we
do
take
up
the
the
issue
of
face
coverings
here
in
the
city
of
athens
kyle.
Thank
you.
As
usual.
A
You
know
it's
always
great
to
see,
and
I
know
that
you
track
it
all
the
time,
but
it's
always
great
to
see
zero
new
cases
in
athens
county.
I
saw
that
for
yesterday.
I
think
we
had
another
day.
Last
week
we
had
a
few
cases
over
the
weekend,
but
it's
certainly
encouraging
seeing
that,
but
but
we're
still
living
under
a
global
pandemic.
A
So
we
strongly
encourage
people
to
continue
to
be
safe,
continue
to
use
a
mask,
especially
if
you're
not
vaccinated
when
you're
out
and
about
you
know,
going
into
businesses
open
to
the
public
and
whatnot
so
kyle.
Thank
you.
As
usual,
very
much
for
updating
us
on
everything
related
to
the
weather,
covered
19
and
sports
in
the
city
of
athens.
A
Yeah
next
week
see
you
next
week
same
time
same
place.
Epw
engineering
and
public
works
they're
doing
smoke
testing
a
smoke
test
on
south
court
street.
This
is
something
that
they
often
do
to
look
for.
A
A
That
may
have
wrapped
up,
but
just
know
that
if
you
see
smoke
coming
up
out
of
the
street
anywhere
that
it
is
smoke
testing,
the
other
thing
is
timson
avenue
project
again,
certainly
apologize
for
the
inconveniences
that
the
seven
million
dollar
overhaul
of
stimson
avenue
has
had
what
it's
caused,
but
the
project.
A
As
I
know,
it
is
still
on
track
to
have
the
north
side
lane
completed
in
july
and
then
migrating
to
the
south
side
lane
and
then
the
whole
project,
again,
hopefully
being
wrapped
up
by
the
end
of
october.
A
Arts
parks
and
recreation
has
several
things
going
on:
registration
for
youth,
t-ball,
coach
pitch
and
smart
start
baseball,
35
dollars
per
child,
so
again
encouraging
people
to
sign
up
your
kids.
For
that
you
can
call
arts
parks
and
rec
at
five
and
out
more
about
it.
The
t-ball
is
ages.
Five
and
six
coach
pitch
is
seven
through
nine
and
I'm
not
100
sure
as
what
the
age
range
is
for
smart
start
baseball,
but
there
you
have
it
for
t-ball
and
coach
pitch.
A
The
oh
yeah
I
do
have
information
on
the
smart
start.
Baseball
is
kids
ages,
three
to
five
with
a
parent
being
there.
So
there
you
have
it
smart
start,
baseball,
t-ball
and
coach
pitch
again
check
it
out.
You
can
call
the
community
center,
as
I
mentioned
at
592-3325,
and
get
more
information
on
that.
A
The
there's
registration
is
going
on
now
for
swim
lessons.
I
think
we
have
the
flyer
to
show
again
there.
It
is
the
you
can
see
the
sessions
and
the
times
as
well
as
the
pricing
for
lessons
forty
dollars
per
child
per
session.
A
Again,
you
see
the
session
time
frames
for
june
july
and
even
into
august
aqua,
tots
35
dollars
per
child
adaptive,
aquatics
35
dollars
and
junior
lifeguarding
again
take
advantage
of
that
with
the
lifeguard
program
is
60
dollars
per
child
per
session.
A
All
right
I
and
we'd
mentioned.
I
mentioned
the
last
time
the
new
arts
parks
and
recreation
logo.
There
you
have
it
the
sharp
and
fully
engaged
logo
with
a
bicycle
and
a
artist
brush.
The
looks
like
the
hocking
river
in
the
hills
and
the
sun,
so
nice
looking
logo.
A
The
couple
other
things
going
on
june
1st
down
at
the
water
treatment
plant
actually
down
at
the
service
garage
there
will
be
a
ribbon
cutting
it's
a
ribbon
cutting
for
the
new
micro
grid
system.
It's
a
battery
system
that
feeds
off
of
the
solar
energy
produced
by
the
solar
array
at
the
water
treatment
plant
it
feeds
into
the
batteries.
A
The
batteries
then
will
partially
power
the
water
treatment
plant
during
the
evening
when
the
sun
is
not
out
so
pretty
cool
that
we
were
selected
as
one
of
three
sites
in
the
state
of
ohio
to
have
a
pilot
microgrid
system
that
was
put
forward
or
brought
forward
by
aep.
A
Another
thing
that
I'd
like
to
mention
and
recognize-
I
may
have
mentioned
this-
the
last
press
conference
and
that
is
that
council,
member
or
former
council
member
beth
clodfelter
has
stepped
down
from
city
council
to
take
a
position
with
senator
sherrod
brown's
office.
A
So
beth
will
be
missed.
She
was
a
wonderful
city,
council,
member
and
always
actively
engaged
with
the
population.
So
the
best
to
you
in
your
new
endeavor
former
council
member
beth,
claude
felder,
upcoming
meetings
here
in
the
city,
we've
got
the
commission
on
disabilities
this
evening.
That
will
be
at
5
00
pm
recreation
advisory
board
will
be
tomorrow
evening.
