Description
Mayor's Weekly Update - April 14, 2021
A
Good
afternoon
and
welcome
once
again
to
the
weekly
update
with
the
mayor
happy
april
14th.
You
know
that
too
is
hard
to
believe
that
we
are
a
day
away
from
being
at
the
halfway
point
through
the
month
of
april,
and
you
know
temperature
wise.
I
guess
it's
kind
of
feeling
like
halfway
through
april,
a
little
bit
on
the
chilly
side
but
kyle.
Let
us
know
what
the
weather
is
today
and
the
seven
day
outlook.
B
B
B
sunday
night's,
probably
cloudy
love
39
monday,
probably
cloudy
high
of
63
monday
nights,
probably
cloudy
low
42
tuesday,
mostly
cloudy
high
of
65,
tuesday,
night
showers,
late,
12,
35
and
next
wednesday.
Partly
cloudy
skies
in
the
morning
fall
by
mostly
sunny
afternoon
high
58
and
wednesday
night,
probably
cloudy
below

chronovirus
cases
in
the
state
of
ohio.
B
Now,
ohio,
athletics
soccer
is
a
way
for
the
act
championship
game
to
be
announced
this
week.
Baseball
is
away
this
week.
Softball
is
home
this
week.
Field
hockey
is
home.
This
weekend,
then,
next
wednesday,
it's
the
ohio,
giving
day
24
hours
into
former
ohio
short
second
giveaway
at
baker
center
from
45
to
6,
45.
A
Pm,
thank
you
kyle,
and
we
had
eight
new
cases
in
athens
county
yesterday
for
the
coronavirus,
just
as
a
side
note
to
that,
and
thanks
for
updating
us
on
everything,
weather,
corona
and
sports
kyle.
So
I
was
at
something
this
week,
standing
next
to
the
person.
That's
in
your
background,
who
was
down
at
heritage
hall,
allegedly
to
get
his
vaccine,
and
that
was
rufus.
A
The
bobcat
was
down
there
and
I,
when
someone
told
me
that
rufus
was
getting
a
vaccination
and
I
thought
well
well,
you
have
to
shave
part
of
rufus's
arm
to
be
able
to
get
the
vaccine
and
they
laughed
and
said
no,
but
rufus
was
down
there
and
kyle.
I'm
sure
you're
aware
who
else
was
down
there
at
heritage
hall.
A
A
Speaking
of
the
vaccination,
you
know
I,
I
know.
Probably
a
lot
of
people
have
heard
about
the
hold
that
has
been
placed
on
the
johnson
and
johnson
vaccine
due
to
some
concerns
with
the
vaccine.
However,
however,
the
moderna
and
the
pfizer
vaccine,
it
is
here
in
athens
county.
It
is
at
a
number
of
our
pharmacies,
as
well
as
the
athens
city
county
health
department.
A
We
need
to
continue
to
make
sure
that
we
are
getting
our
county
vaccinated
and
the
only
way
for
that
to
happen
is
to
sign
up
and
become
vaccinated.
So
I
encourage
everyone
to
continue
to
get
your
name
on.
If
you
were
age,
16
plus
get
your
name
on
one
of
the
pharmacy
lists
or
the
athens
city
county
health
departments
list
to
get
the
vaccine.
A
Please
do
so
and
in
the
interim
or
even
after
being
vaccinated
just
remember,
the
city
still
has
a
face
covering
ordinance
in
place
to
protect
you
and
others,
and
if
you've
been
vaccinated.
More
importantly,
others,
because
you
still
can
be
exposed
to
someone
who
may
be
positive
and
you
still
become
a
vector
for
transmitting.
So
please
just
do
the
right
thing:
wash
your
hands
wear
a
mask
and
when
you
have
the
opportunity
get
vaccinated
some
of
the
updates
for
today
we
talked
about
this
last
week.
It
is
buyered
street
closure.
A
It
will
continue
this
week
and
into
next
week
where
they
are
doing
some
work
on.
I
believe
it's
the
storm
tunnel
work
in
between
south
shaffer
and
maple.
I've
seen
them
down
there
with
their
heavy
equipment,
putting
the
stormline
repair
in
place.
So
keep
that
in
mind
that
there
is
work
going
on
in
that
area.
Some
general
city
news
that's
going
on
spring
cleanup
week.
A
It
is
next
week
it
is
the
19th
through
the
23rd.
This
is
again
where
you
can
take
extra
bags
of
trash
out
to
the
curb
on
your
normal
recycling,
refuse
day
put
it
out
there.
You
won't
be
charged
extra.
They
will
take
as
much
as
you
put
out
there
in
bags
if
you
are
putting
larger
items
out
there,
an
old
sofa
that
is
unusable
and
unusable
to
you
or
a
recliner
or
something
that
is
oversized.
That
too
can
be
taken
out.
A
But
but
we
ask
that
you
call
and
arrange
an
appointment
to
have
that
picked
up
at
592-3343
and
you
can
schedule
a
pickup
time
to
where
the
city
will
come
and
pick
that
up.
It
will
be
an
extra
charge
of
15
per
cubic
yard
to
have
that
disposed
of
for
you.
The
other
thing
that
is
has
been
mentioned
multiple
times
and
always
good
to
remind
is
the
fact
that
we
have
dumpsters
down
at
the
service
garage
down
at
387
west
state
street.
A
You
will
need
a
photo
id
and
your
utility
bill
to
show
that
you
are
a
resident
in
the
city
of
athens
and
you
can
take
down,
scrap
metal
or
trash
and
throw
that
into
those
containers,
departure
depositing
large
items
not
trash,
but
large
items
and
scrap
metal
between
7
30
a.m
and
3
30
p.m.
Monday,
through
friday,
there's
no
charge
for
this.
But
again
you
do
need
to
show
your
id
and
proof
of
residency.
A
The
easiest
thing
to
use
is
your
utility
bill,
arts
parks
and
recreation.
There
is
an
event
called
well,
it
is
joining
passion,
work,
studio,
arts,
west
and
up
cycle
ohio
at
the
armory
park.
Now
this
is
going
to
be
the
24th
between
noon
and
6
p.m.
A
This
will
be
reflecting
on
the
past
year
by
helping
us
paint
the
community
banners
that
can
consist
of
covet
19
or
considers
the
copen19
pandemic,
and
how
the
city
of
athens
has
supported
you
in
this
past
year,
drinks
and
snacks
will
be
provided
so
come,
I'm
gonna.
Take
my
daughters
down.
This
should
be
kind
of
fun
to
get
involved
and
work
on
painting
a
community
bear
the
some
of
the
other
things
going
on.
We
have
the
free
instrument
checkout
at
the
southeast,
ohio
musical
lending
library
for
the
month
of
april.
A
You
can
check
these
out
two
weeks
for
free
and
try
an
instrument,
see
what
you
think
if
it
doesn't
work
for
you
bring
it
back.
If
it
does,
you
know,
then
it's
been
successful
and
maybe
we've
encouraged
you
to
become
a
musician
playing
instrument
x.
They
have
all
kinds
of
instruments
down
there:
everything
ranging
from
percussion
to
keyboards
to
brass
instruments,
stringed
instruments,
you
name
it
they've
got
them
in
there.
A
A
592-4315
or
you
can
contact
emily
at
e
beverage,
that's
b
e
v
e
r,
I
d
g
e
at
c
I
dot
athens.oh.u.s
and
get
a
hold
of
her
2021
athens
summer
camp
reservations,
registration
underway
march,
15th
through
june
7th.
So
this
is
for
age
groups
6
through
14..
A
This
is
a
great
thing
to
get
involved
in.
There
is
a
10
per
week,
sibling
discount
available
for
kids,
the
cost.
I
believe
I
don't
see
the
cost
we
also
have
before
and
after
care
available
for
an
additional
23
dollars
a
week
that
allows
you
to
drop
off
your
child
six,
seven
thirty
to
8
30
a.m
and
pick
them
up
between
3,
30
and
5
30
p.m,
and
I
believe
that
is
monday.
Through
fridays.
A
Camp
hours
are
9
00
a.m
to
3,
30
p.m.
So
the
before
and
after
kind
of
helps,
you
expand
that
out
over
the
camp
periods.
So
please
check
it
out
if
you're
interested
in
getting
having
things
for
your
children
to
do
during
the
summer
months
go
check
it
out,
for
the
love
of
athens
photo
contest,
an
exhibit
celebrating
the
people
and
people
in
places
here
in
athens,
county
march
30th
through
may
29th
hours
of
operation
monday
through
friday,
6
a.m
to
8
p.m.
A
This
is
at
the
community
center,
so
that's
free
to
the
public
so
go
and
and
check
that
out
as
well
and
finally,
some
upcoming
meetings.
The
municipal
arts
commission,
will
be
this
evening
at
5,
30
5
30
to
7.
So
you
can
jump
on
that
on
zoom.
The
zoom
meetings
planning
commission
will
be
meeting
tomorrow
at
noon
noon
to
1
30..
A
So
if
you're
interested
in
all
things
planning
commission,
you
can
tune
in.
B
A
As
usual
at
the
city,
council
will
be
monday
evening
at
7,
00
pm
again
that's
april
19th
and
I
believe
that
is
committee's
night.
So
there
you
have.
It
encourage
people
to
continue
to
not
let
your
guard
down
with
the
coronavirus.
