Description
Mayor's Press Conference - December 1, 2021
A
B
B
tuesday
afternoon
rain,
snow
showers,
high
of
42,
12,
36
and
next
wednesday
before
morning,
shot
with
a
high
of
41
and
low
27.,
and
today
in
the
last
24
hours,
have
been
roughly
nearly
9
000
new
deposit
coronavirus
cases
in
the
state
behind
the
last
24
hours.
This
is
not
the
only
crime
of
bearing
or
knowledge
frankenstein
from
our
experience,
but
it's
just
the
second
wave
of
the
death
ovarian
church.
A
A
Right
and
it's,
it
sounds
frankensteinish
in
terms
of
of
the
omicron
variant
which,
as
I
understand
it,
hasn't
been
yet
detected
in
the
united
states,
but
dr
fauci
was
just
saying
earlier
today
that
that's
not
to
say
that
it
isn't
here
in
certain
locations,
it's
just
not
the
the
load
hasn't
gotten
to
the
point
where
they
have
detected
an
increase
in
that
variant.
A
As
you
can
see,
there
are
the
numbers
for
the
county
anyway,
as
of
november
30th,
and
clearly
this
is
december.
1St,
the
you
know,
total
deaths
again
is
96.
Individuals
have
lost
their
lives
to
the
coronavirus,
but
50.62
percent
are
vaccinated,
have
started
and
46.55
percent
have
completed
the
there
will
be
a
shot
clinic
again.
This
is
the
booster
clinic
and
it
will
be
from
9
to
10
45
this
friday
december
3rd
down
at
the
usual
location
heritage
hall.
A
Big,
thank
you
again
to
ohio
universities,
heritage,
college
of
osteopathic
medicine
for
allowing
for
the
athens
city
county
health
department
to
use
that
facility
to
administer
these
shots.
I
I
also
know
that
later
on
that
day,
they
will
continue
the
shot
clinic
not
for
boosters,
but
for
people.
Continuing
to
get
their
series,
I
know
that,
because
my
twin
daughters
will
be
getting
their
second
vaccination
on
at
four
o'clock
that
afternoon
on
friday
afternoon.
A
You
know,
as
my
wife
has
said
to
me
before
it
didn't-
have
to
be
like
this.
If
people
would
just
roll
up
their
sleeve
and
get
the
vaccine
so
there
you
have
it
with
vaccinations,
some
things
to
kind
of
walk
through
this
just
came
in,
and
that
is
that
the
athens
county
auditor
jill
thompson
is
announcing
the
sales
of
the
2022
dog
licenses.
A
So
you
need
to
license
your
dog
in
athens.
County
licenses
will
go
on
sale,
starting
just
today
december
1st
and
will
be
valid
through
january,
20
or
31st
of
2023,
so
license
your
dog
it's
required
by
state
law
and
ensure
that
your
dog,
your
pet,
will
return
safely
and
quickly.
If
it
becomes
lost
so
get
your
dog
licensed.
You
can
get
more
details
over
at
the
county
courthouse
or
you
can
call
them
at
592-3223
again.
592-3223.
A
Again,
that's
the
county,
athens,
county
dog,
shelter,
leafs
leaves
are
still
a
fallen,
so
the
leafer
is
still
roaming
our
streets.
They
will
be
out
this
week,
they're
hitting
area
two,
as
you
can
see,
for
their
last
round
and
that'll
wrap
up
this
friday
and
then
going
into
the
week
of
the
sixth,
which
is
a
week
or
it's
monday
of
next
week,
from
the
sixth
through
the
tenth
they'll
be
collecting,
leaves
so
again
great
service
rake.
Your
leaves
out
to
the
curb,
during
the
time
of
the.
A
A
Athens,
ohio
city
source
and
it'll
pop
right
up,
it's
easy
to
download,
and
then
you
can
effectively
reach
out
to
different
departments
in
the
city
and
report
issues
that
you
see.
It
can
be
everything
from
rental
unit,
complaints
to
infrastructures
that
needs
to
be
repaired,
or
you
believe
that
it
needs
to
be
repaired
that
can
be
potholes
in
the
streets.
A
It
can
be
water
that
shouldn't
be
shooting
up
out
of
the
street,
it
could
be
the
smell
of
raw
sewage
somewhere,
and
you
can
use
that
app
to
get
that
information
to
where
it
needs
to
be
going
within
the
city,
departments,
engineering
and
public
works
would
respond.
If
there's
a
street
lamp,
that's
out
or
if
it's
an
aep
lamp
we'll
make
sure
we
get
that
to
aep.
A
A
Again,
you
can,
you
know,
see
it
you'll,
find
it
right
at
the
top
of
the
city's
website.
So
you
know,
or
you
can
use
your
cell
phone
and
text
45701
to
88877.
A
To
get
nixel
downloaded
again
it's
great
for
all
kinds
of
emergency
alerts,
it
can
be
weather
alerts,
it
can
be,
you
know,
even
amber
alerts.
Come
across
nixle,
you
name
it.
A
number
of
very
important,
vital
information
can
be
used
via
nixl
and
then
again,
athens,
ohio
city
source
app
can
be
used
for
you
to
send
information
on
to
us
so
that
we
can
attend
to
things
that
need
to
be
fixed.
A
Scott
thompson
is
telling
me
that
we
have
addressed
over
400
nice
and
that
I'm
assuming
has
been
since
we
started
with
this
yeah
yeah.
So
thank
you,
scott
for
bringing
that
up
that
yeah.
I
mean
it's
being
used
a
lot
and
it
it
allows
us
to
more
quickly
address
issues
in
the
city
so
check
it
out.
A
I
mentioned
this
last
week
and
it's
the
community
center
space
for
it's
a
workspace
for
people
to
use
in
the
community
center,
where
there's
free,
wi-fi,
there's
desks
and
chairs
it's
a
quiet
space,
there's
a
mini
fridge
in
there
and
many
more
things.
I
think
that
if
you
use
the
mini
fridge,
you
should
probably
make
sure
your
name
is
well
written
and
visible
on
whatever
you
put
in
there
in
case
multiple
views,
people
use
the
fridge.
A
A
It's
a
it's
a
great
service.
It's
free
to
members
and
if
you're,
not
a
member,
it's
seven
dollars
a
day
which
includes
access
to
the
fitness
facility
as
well.
So
it's
quite
the
deal
to
be
able
to
use
it
in
that
way,
also
related
to
arts
parks
and
recreation.
We
have
the
start:
smart,
basketball,
registration.
This
is
for
kids
ages,
three
to
five
monday
november.
29Th
is
when
it
began,
and
but
it
runs
through
january
7th.
A
So
you
can
probably
go
down
to
the
community
center
and
see
if
you
can
still
get
your
your
youth
and
it's
35
dollars
per
child
to
partake
in
the
smart
start:
basketball,
registration,
also,
youth,
basketball
registration
is
going
on.
This
is
grades
k,
kindergarten
through
12.
A
A
A
So
come
down
and
check
out
the
artworks
that
are
down
there.
This
is
pretty
cool.
I
think
that
I
will
be
going
down
there
with
my
daughters
this
weekend,
tai
chi
at
arts
west
as
well.
This
is
going
to
start
monday
december
6th,
learn,
slow
graceful
movements
to
improve
your
circulation
balance
and
massage
your
organs.
A
It's
ten
dollars
per
class.
The
times
are
6
p.m,
to
7
p.m.
At
arts
west
so
come
check
it
out,
it'll
be
in
the
arts,
west
performance
space,
so
the
the
great
room
upstairs
and
again
that
is
at
132
west
state
street.
It
says
west
union
on
here,
but
I
think
that's
west
state
street
that
arts
west
is
located
on
I'm
getting
the
head
nod,
I'm
pretty
sure
I
got
that
street
right,
the
hawking
valley
riparian
project
area.
A
This
is
something
that
I
brought
up
last
week,
speaking
to
the
16
acres
of
riparian
forest,
that
is
completely
consumed
by
all
kinds
of
unwanted
invasives
down
there,
that
we
are
going
to
start
on
a
project
to
remove
a
lot
of
the
invasives,
hopefully
all
of
the
invasives
down
there,
and
we
will
put
up
signage
along
the
bike
path
that
will
speak
to
what
invasives
look
like
and
why
they
are
unwanted,
because
they
typically
will
crowd
out
new
growth
of
smaller
trees
and
can
actually
damage
larger
trees.
A
A
Here,
council
chambers,
athens,
city
council
will
be
meeting
next
monday
evening
december
6th
here
in
council
chambers,
again
same
time
same
place,
same
channel
amac
will
be
meeting
on
december,
8th
at
1pm
at
arts,
west,
the
that's
the
athens
municipal
arts,
commission
and
the
shade
tree
commission
is
going
to
be
meeting
on
december
9th
at
7,
00
p.m,
also
up
here
in
council
chambers,
so,
council
chambers,
and,
thank
goodness
with
all
the
wonderful
work
that
comes
from
scott
and
ryan
here
at
the
government
channel.
A
It's
the
place
to
be,
and
apparently
the
place
to
be
seen,
so
that
said,
kyle
thank
you
for
joining
me
as
usual.
It's
always
wonderful
having
you
here
and
I'm
sure
that
I
will
see
more
postings
of
you
and
rufus
in
the
not-too-distant
future,
because
I
don't
know
how
many
photos
you're
up
to
with
your
best
friend
rufus.
A
It's
gotta
be
hundreds,
if
not
close
to
thousands.
So
thanks
for
joining
me
and
thanks
for
tuning
in
and
please
join
us
next
week
for
the
next
weekly
update
with
the
mayor
and
college,
all
handsome
take
care.
