Description
Mayor's Weekly Update April 7, 2021
A
Good
afternoon
and
welcome
once
again
to
the
weekly
update
with
the
mayor
and
kyle
johansen
kyle
it's
gorgeous
outside,
and
so
please
let
everyone
know,
what's
the
next
seven
days
going
to
look
like
as
we
roll
forward
in
this
really
a
great
transitional
period
when
it
comes
to
the
weather.
B
B
B
B
B
There
are
now
130
million
cases,
2.9
million
deaths,
and
there
have
now
been
two
new
clone
of
variants,
confirmed
united
states
alone,
two
in
india
in
california,
and
one
it's
one
from
its
own
united
states
and
has
been
confirmed
in
new
mexico
from
the
state
of
california,
in
sports
soccer's
back
at
home.
At
chesterfield
against
kent
state
at
4
p.m:
sunday
soccer
at
home
against
buffalo,
1
p.m.
Senior
day
baseball's
out
is
at
home
this
weekend,
your
versus
marshall
and
then
softball
is
out
toledo.
B
B
A
Great
great,
thank
you
kyle,
and
you
know
it
just
reminded
me
when
you're
working
your
way
through
all
the
athletics,
and
that
is
it's
really
hard
to
believe
I
mean
clearly
it's
believable
it's
april
7th,
but
what's
hard
to
believe
is
that
commencement
is
is
less
than
a
month
away
as
a
matter
of
fact,
it's
about
give
or
take
three
weeks
away
from
now,
so
things
are
slowly
kind
of
wrapping
up
with
ohio
university.
You
know
back
to
covet
19
and
thank
you
thank
you
for
all
updates
cop.
As
usual.
A
You
know
yesterday
we
had,
I
believe
it
was
13
new
cases
in
athens
county
and
a
total
of
24
fatalities
due
to
54
fatalities
due
to
coven
19
in
athens
county-
and
you
may
have
touched
on
this
kyle
and
that's
the
the
number
of
vaccines
you
know
here
in
athens
county,
which
is
great
especially
now
that
there
is
more
vaccine
that
has
come
down
to
athens
for
the
university
students
who
are
eligible
yeah.
A
I
mean
it's
johnson
and
johnson,
so
it's
one
dose,
they
can
get
the
vaccine
and
not
have
to
worry
about
having
to
come
back
for
a
second
dose,
but
for
as
of
april
5th
through
the
8th,
which
I
certainly
recognize.
That
today
is
the
7th.
But
this
is
what
I'm
saying
is.
There
will
be
a
total
of
first
dose
cases
of
the
vaccine
of
7435
and
vaccines
completed.
That
means
their
second
dose
as
of
that
same
date
and
time
5044..
A
To
let
off
or
let
our
guard
down
when
it
comes
to
staying
safe
here
in
athens
and
athens
county,
and
I
know
it's
hard
to
do
when
the
weather
get
it
gets
as
it's
getting
nicer
and
nicer,
but
we've
got
to
you
know,
continue
to
wear
a
face
covering
continue
to
wash
your
hands
frequently
continue
to
social
distance.
The
governor,
the
the
a
number
of
ordinance
or
health
directives
were
rescinded,
but
what
really
happened?
A
Is
they
rescinded
individual
health
orders
and
compiled
them
all
into
one
large
health
order
for
the
state
of
ohio,
so
social
distancing
is
still
required.
Face
coverings
is
still
required.
Gatherings
no
greater
than
10
is
still
mandated.
So
again,
we
need
to
continue
to
do
everything
in
our
own
power
to
make
sure
that
we
are
keeping
each
other
safe
kyle.
Thank
you.
A
As
usual,
it's
great
having
you
on,
and
I
know
that
you'll
be
returning
next
wednesday
for
the
next
installment
yep,
see
you
next
week,
all
right,
kyle,
I'm
going
to
start
on
kind
of
a
happy
family
note
I
want
to
wish.
I
have
a
wonderful
happy
birthday
to
my
brother
mark
who
lives
out
in
california
on
the
left
coast.
Happy
59th
birthday.
Mark
we've
got
a
couple
other
things
I
want
to
share
up
front.
A
I
shared
these
at
city
council,
the
other
night
monday
night
to
be
exact.
We
received
a
letter
from
an
individual
who
has
a
home
here
in
athens
that
is
rented
out.
A
They
live
elsewhere,
so
it's
a
managed
property
as
a
rental
property
individuals
living
in
actually
living
across
the
pond,
but
basically
sent
a
letter
to
me
thanking
the
code
office
as
well
as
the
tax
administrator
for
the
city
of
athens,
tina
timmerman
for
being
very
professional
when
it
came
to
helping
this
individual
with
their
rental
property,
stating
that
this
individual's
dealings
with
the
code
enforcement
and,
most
recently
the
tax
division,
was
nothing
less
than
excellent.
A
I
wanted
to
share
that.
Another
letter
to
share
came
from
a
resident
here
in
athens.
Wanting
to.
Let
me
know
how
professional
and
great
the
officers
were
in
helping
with
a
relative
having
some
mental
issues,
calling
on
three
separate
times
for
the
athens
police
department
to
come
and
all
three
times
the
officers
have
been
wonderful
and
kind
in
helping
with
the
issue
at
hand,
it
was
again
three
separate
calls
for
service
and
it
was
different
officers
each
time.
A
So
all
told
it
was
seven
of
the
more
than
20
city
police
officers
that
responded
on
separate
occasions,
and
so
it's
always
great
to
pass
that,
along
to
the
citizens
of
athens.
A
A
This
is
between
south
shaffer
street
and
maple
street,
where
they
are
closing
to
complete
a
stormline
repair.
So
keep
that
in
mind
that
that
is
happening
and
it
will
be
an
extended
project
again
april
7th
through
the
23rd.
So
it's
going
to
be
two
weeks
long
to
get
this
stormline
repair
taking
place
spring
cleanup
week.
I've
talked
about
this
several
times
already,
so
it
never
hurts
to
mention
it
again
april
19th
through
the
23rd.
A
A
You
will
be
charged
the
15
per
cubic
yard
fee
for
having
a
special
haul,
which
is
what
it
is
and
that
can
be
arranged
at
592-3343
to
have
the
city
come
and
pick
up
that
larger
than
normal
item.
But
again,
if
it's
bags
of
trash
things
that
you
know
can
go
into
the
landfill.
A
Take
advantage
of
that
that
you
will
not
be
charged
extra
to
clean
up
clean
out
your
garage
clean
out
your
basement
clean
out.
Whatever
needs
to
be
cleaned
up,
there
will
also
be
dumpsters
down
at
the
service
garage
which
is
387,
387
west
state
street
it'll
be
a
roll-off
dumper
dumpster.
This
is
going
to
be
for
scrap
metal
and
trash
construction.
Debris
will
not
be
accepted
at
that
dumpster.
A
You
will
need
to
bring
proof
of
city
residency,
and
that
is
typically
what
most
people
use
is
their
utility
bill
so
bring
a
utility
bill
and
a
photo
id,
and
you
can
drop
things
off.
If
you
have
questions
about
that,
please
reach
out
to
director
of
development
code
enforcement,
david
riggs,
and
you
can
reach
him
at
592-3300
six
commission

disabilities.

an

this.

the
city's

so
you
can
check
it
out
there.
A
Als
interpreting
will
also
be
provided
with
this
event,
so

that
out,

and

the
commission
on
disabilities
to

at

issues
in
the
uptown
area,

30
p.m,
and

Several
things
going
on.

so
you

the
athens
city
council
monday
meeting.
It
will
be
this
coming
monday
april,
12th
at
7
00
p.m.
Those
are
you
know,
even
in
the
virtual
world.
A
It
has
been
great
that
dr
thomas
sudus
and
his
class
has
been
able
to
attend
scott
and
ryan,
always
do
a
great
job
and
affording
those
journalism,
students
the
ability
to
go
into
chat
rooms
and
or
breakout
rooms,
or
whatever
we're
calling
them
these
days
and
engage
with
city
council
as
well
as
engaging
with
me
again.
I
truly
enjoy
it,
and
I
love
the
fact
that
that
these
students
truly
feel
comfortable.
A
You
know
being
able
to
engage
with
city
elected
officials
as
they
should
be,
so
that's
that's
always
again
fun
for
me.
I
know
that
you
guys
who
are
watching
now,
don't
get
to
see
that,
but
I
wish
you
did
it's
kind
of
cool.
That's
really
all
I
have
for
today.
Thank
you
for
joining
me
on
this
bright,
sunny
wonderful
day
and
encourage
you
to
tune
in
again
next
week
for
the
next
installment
of
the
athens.
