Description
Mayor's Press Conference - July 21, 2022
A
Once
again
to
the
weekly
update
with
kyle
johansen,
now
that
he's
back
from
niagara
falls
and
the
mayor
and
I'm
going
to
start
off
on
that
theme.
I
know
that
maybe
you
can't
see
this
but
kyle
brought
me
this
really
nice
postcard
of
the
niagara
falls
at
night
time
when
they
light
it
up
and
multi-color.
So
thank
you
kyle
for
that
and
I
was
keeping
track
of
your
whereabouts
on
facebook.
A
The
whole
time
you're
gone
so
welcome
back
kyle
and
clearly
you
didn't
bring
this
weather
with
you,
but
so
been
pretty
hot.
So
kyle
give
us
an
idea
as
to
what
we
have
to
look
forward
to
in
the
next
seven
days.
B
B
Next
tuesday
we
got
morning
showers,
I'm
84
low
66..
Next
wednesday
we
got
scattered
thunderstorms,
high
of
86
low
70.
in
covent
cases.
We
are
now
seeing
this
beginning
of
our
new
search
of
the
ba5,
but
the
vaccines
are
working
against
the
b5,
and
now
we
know
we
got
that
we
got
now.
Basically
now
the
monkey
pox
that's
not
a
pandemic,
which
is
a
good
thing,
because
there
have
been
vaccines
for
monkey
parks
for
several
years.
B
B
Clover
cases
are
not
as
high
as
we
were
like
this
time
last
year,
because
more
people
are
not
vaccinated
yet,
but
this
time
more
people
are
watchable
getting
vaccinated.
We
just
had
to
wait
for
the
the
last
script
of
babies
to
the
one
month.
All
year
round,
we
got
the
double
header
copperhead
game
tomorrow
night,
the
first
one's
at
505
pm,
then
all.
A
Right
some
interesting
information
that
we're
in
receipt
of
the
2021-2022
aep
american
electric
power,
ohio
neighbor
to
neighbor
program.
So
apparently,
this
is
a
heating
program,
cooling,
not
that
we
need
heating
right
now,
but
heating
program,
cooling
program,
special
storm
assistance
program.
A
And
what
this
is
is
these
are
applicants
must
have
an
outstanding
balance
on
their
aep
ohio
bill
of
at
least
fifty
dollars.
So
you
can
apply
for
some
relief
through
aep
in
this
program.
A
This
is
seems
to
be
a
great
thing:
they're
lending
a
hand
to
help
those
who
are
experiencing
financial
hardship
and
need
to
get
back
on
their
feet,
they're
ministered
by
the
dollar
energy
fund,
which
is
a
program
that
provides
eligible
customers
with
utilities
assistance.
A
This
grant
helps
limited
income,
customers
maintain
and
restore
their
basic
electric
services.
So
this
is,
this
is
great.
The
you
can
reach
out
to
aep
for
about
these
programs
at
www,
dot,
dollar
energy,
dot,
org,
slash
donations,
slash
aep
ohio,
so
there
you
have
it.
Another
thing
you
can
simply
do
is
call
aep
ohio
at
1-800-672-2231.
A
The
city
street
improvement
schedule,
we've
got
the
I've
got
the
list,
I'm
gonna
go
through
this
and
this
is
going
to
be
happening
rather
soon
to
where
mckee,
paving
and
sealing
is
going
to
be
going
around
and
taking
care
of
our
streets.
Armitage
road
from
682
to
the
city
limits.
That's
a
chip
seal
project
because
it's
a
kind
of
a
chip
seal,
slash,
gravel
road
banbury
drive
from
carroll
road
to
roxbury
drive
over
in
the
oakmont
development
campbell
street
watt
street.
This
is
from
morris
avenue
to
stimson
avenue.
A
Cook
drive
east
state
street
to
the
end
of
cook.
Drive
courier
street
east
park
drive
elliott
street
fern.
Alley
is
going
to
get
some
repaving
done,
hickory
street
also
highland
drive.
This
is
the
upper
section.
This
is
from
short
street
to
divide
kerr
street
north
congress,
street
palmer
street
smith,
street
stuart
street
stuart
street
loop
and
wallace
street.
A
So
the
the
july
25th
through
the
29th,
we're
going
to
see
cook
drive,
cougar
street
east
park,
drive
elliott
street
fern
alley
kern
street
north
congress
street
and
palmer
street,
so
they're
going
to
be
done
during
those
in
that
first
tranche
that
first
week,
rather
will
be
july
25th
through
the
29th.
So
it's
that
time
of
year,
street
repaving,
the
eighth
annual
athena
award,
the
commission
on
disabilities
is
still
looking
for
people
to
submit
nominees
for
this
prestigious
award.
A
You
can
contact
dr
carolyn
bailey
lewis
and
she
can
be
reached
at
lewis
c
3,
the
number
three
at
ohio.edu,
so
you
know
tell
dr
lewis,
whom
you
think
should
be
the
recipient
of
the
athena
award
cpa,
pro
or
cca
program.
Rather,
this
is
the
columbus
central
collection
agency.
A
You
know
this
is
the
the
where
the
amnesty
program
ended
for
income
tax.
If
people
were
behind
on
their
income
tax
now
it's
transitioned
to
where
people
are
likely
getting
letters
from
cca
and
asking
for
information
and
the
possibility
of
having
not
paid
taxes.
Now
this
will
there
will
be
tax
collection
going
on.
A
I
think
ryan
might
have
something
queued
up
for
this
next
thing,
but
this
is
the
we're
looking
for
input
on
ways
in
which
we
need
to
or
could
improve
our
city
sidewalks
where
sidewalks
exist
or
areas
where
we
need
to
put
in
sidewalks
so
you're,
looking
at
the
qr
code,
if
you
rip
out
your
cell
phone
your
smartphone
and
take
a
picture
of
this,
it
should
pop
up
for
that
should
pop
up
on
the
survey
itself
and
so
we're
asking
people
to
take
this
qualtric
survey.
A
A
The
other
thing
is
a
city
pool
cities
looking
to
hire
some
summer
help,
I'm
still
looking
for
lifeguard
positions
head
lifeguard
pool
cashiers
at
the
city
pool.
So
if
you're
interested
in
that
with
those
openings
that
are
still
available,
we've
been
looking
for
people
to
serve
at
the
pool
the.
A
Last
thing
that
I
have
well
one
of
the
last
things
is
the
free
music
in
the
park
event.
The
last
one
is
tonight
it's
hard
to
believe
this
is
the
21st
of
july
already,
but
that
will
be
down
at
west
state
street
park
so
come
down
and
and
listen
to
some
great
music
partake
in
this.
This
is
the
third
and
last
one
in
the
parks
there
is
one
more
and
that
last
one
won't
be
in
a
park.
A
It'll
be
on
west
union
between
court
and
congress,
and
that
is
the
13th
of
august
will
be
the
athens
arts
and
music
festival.
Athens
is
getting
some
national
attention
on
that,
along
with
other
cities
that
are
doing
some
really
great
things,
and
the
last
item
I
want
to
mention
is
that
the
city
of
athens
was
selected
by
ohio
magazine
to
be
showcased
so
more
to
follow
on
that.
