From YouTube: Athens Bike Rodeo--May 14
Description
Athens Bicycle and Ohio Health O'Bleness Hospital came together to present the annual Athens Bike Rodeo. Kids spent the morning riding a course, learning safety tips, and receiving free helmets to keep them safe this summer. The event highlighted the importance of always wearing a helmet when riding a bike.
A
Even
the
dreary
weather
couldn't
stop
residents
from
coming
out
and
supporting
Athens
bicycles,
annual
bike
rodeo
at
the
Ohio
health
of
Lana's
hospital
on
May,
fourteenth
kids
gathered
to
practice.
Safety
tips
ride
the
course
and
pick
up
a
free
helmet
to
keep
them
safe.
This
summer,
city,
council,
member
and
Athens
bicycle
shop,
owner
Peter
Kostis
helped
coordinate
the
event
and
explain
to
us
why
the
bike
rodeo
is
so
important.
The.
B
Big
idea
here
is
to
teach
some
skills,
and
so
we
have
some
have
some
skills
course
set
set
up
for
kids
to
to
write
around
and
kind
of,
enjoy
the
set
themselves
get
together
in
groups
and
just
kind
of
tool
around,
and
then
the
big
thing
for
us
to
is
to
get
helmets.
So
then
OhioHealth
is
generously
pursued
grants
and
been
able
to
find
funding
to
get.
You
know
somewhere
in
the
neighborhood
I,
think
this
time,
probably
about
40
or
50
helmets
and
get
them
out
there
and
get
them
on
the
kids.
The.
C
D
Protects
my
head
like
if
I
got
ejected
from
the
bike
on
me
and
my
head
hits
the
ground
it
like
Oh
or
on
something
sharp
like
a
piece
of
glass.
It
will
hit
the
helmet
and
go
through
the
helmet,
but
not
through
my
head.
Despite.
A
B
Percent
of
all
traumatic
head
injuries
can
be
avoided
by
wearing
a
helmet.
So
it's
it's
just
you
know.
When
you
get
into
a
car
you
put
on
the
seat
belt,
when
you
get
on
a
bike,
it's
a
good
idea
to
put
on
a
helmet.
You
know,
especially
at
a
younger
age,
when
you're
just
learning
those
skills
and
how
to
operate
the
machine.
The
best
way
to
see
your
child
into
adulthood
is
to
wear
seat
belt
in
your
car
and
to
have
a
helmet
when
you're
riding
a
bicycle.
