most
want

updates.
A
Finally,
on
today's
news,
update
cold
weather
has
hit
Athens
and
now
more
than
ever,
it's
important
to
bundle
up
when
it's
going
outside
and
limit
outside
exposure.
At
the
same
time,
you
are
putting
on
those
extra
layers
make
sure
your
pets
are
also
safe
and
warm
throughout
the
frigid
winter
months.
The
safest
and
warmest
place
for
your
pet
is
inside.
So
please
bring
your
pet
in
when
it
gets
cold,
although
they
likely
have
fur,
it
is
a
myth
that
that
fur
keeps
them
substantially
warmer
than
us.
A
If,
for
whatever
reason,
your
furry
friend
must
remain
outside,
please
make
sure
they
have
a
warm
dry
shelter,
it
should
be
large
enough
that
they
can
lie
down
in,
but
small
enough
to
conserve
their
body
heat.
Make
sure
that
your
pets,
water,
is
fresh
and
not
frozen,
because
animals
can
get
their
tongue
stuck
to
metal.
Bowls
and
low
temperatures
use
plastic
bowls
for
food
and
water.
If
your
pet
is
spending
a
lot
of
time
outside
the
season,
they
will
need
more
food,
since
keeping
warm
requires
more
energy.
A
Also,
your
car's
engine
is
warm
and
a
small
animal
such
as
a
cat
can
find
it
to
be
the
perfect
place
for
a
nap
before
starting
your
engine.
Bang
on
your
car's
hood
to
scare
any
animals
away
before
you
leave.
Beware
of
the
tools
you
use
to
manage
ice
this
winter
as
salt
can
irritate
your
pets,
paws
and
mouths.
An
anti-freeze
can
be
a
deadly
poison
to
both
animals
and
small
children.
A
If
you
own
a
horse,
ensure
that
they
have
a
safe,
warm
shelter
and
be
sure
they
have
access
to
unfrozen
water
at
all
times,
if
needed
blanket
your
horse,
especially
if
they
are
body
clipped.
If
you
become
concerned
about
a
pet
left
out
in
the
cold,
please
document
what
you
see,
so
you
can
present
a
case
to
the
Athens
County
Sheriff's
Office.
You
can
contact
them
at
740,
593
6633
this
winter,
make
sure
that
your
pets
and
the
animals
around
you
are
well
taken
care
of
and
warm.
