From YouTube: 11/18/19 - Council Meeting recap Craig Clark
Description
City of Austin, Minnesota
A
Thanks
for
joining
us
on
the
council
recap:
council
met
Monday,
November,
18th
5:30
in
the
council
chambers
first
item
business
was
to
welcome
Derek,
Ellis
and
k9
dog
Rudy
to
the
council
meeting.
They
recently
participated
in
trials
down
in
Florida
for
the
national
dog,
Patrol
Rudy
and
Derek
finished
tenth
in
that
competition
and
also
on
a
team
of
four
members
took
first
place.
So
that
was
a
great
accomplishment
for
our
dog
and
thank
them
for
their
efforts,
as
well
as
their
daily
efforts.
Keeping
the
streets
of
Austin
safe,
moved
on.
A
We
had
public
hearings
for
two
tax
abatement
projects,
two
single-family
homes,
one
of
them
at
1309,
8/18,
Drive,
northeast
and
the
other
one
would
be
a
tenth
place
northeast.
The
first
will
know
the
value
of
three
hundred
and
twenty
five
thousand
dollars.
The
second
one
was
estimated
value
between
six
and
seven
hundred
thousand,
so
some
interesting
projects
there,
but
council
approved
those
is
in
conformance
with
our
tax
abatement
program.
A
We
moved
on.
We
had
a
public
hearing
set
for
our
wastewater
treatment
facility
planned
for
December,
2nd,
that's
an
important
investment
for
the
community,
major
capital
improvement
for
the
city.
Coming
forward
more
details
on
that
coming
later,
we
also
had
a
set
of
public
hearing
for
December
16th
for
a
five-year
capital
improvement
plan,
so
that
would
be
set
and
talks
about
spending
for
the
city
on
capital
items
over
a
five
year
period,
that'll
be
moving
forward
later
next
month.
A
We
also
had
the
authorizes
the
use
of
our
des
200
machines,
which
are
voting
machines,
have
a
public
open
house
for
that
on
December
4th
at
10:00
a.m.
here
at
City,
Hall,
we've
gotten
a
grant
for
those
machines
and,
as
part
of
the
grant,
we
need
to
educate
the
public
on
the
tabulating
machines
and
we'll
do
that
on
December
4th
at
10:00
a.m.
here
at
City
Hall.
We
also
had
an
off
sale,
liquor
license
club
licenses
and
wine
on
sale
licenses
that
approved
for
2020
council
will
approve
those.
A
A
Excuse
me
and
1500
7th
Avenue
Northwest,
there's
a
former
small
car
dealership
there
I
think
most
recently
it
was
a
roofing
contractor
was
housed
out
of
there,
but
there
was
a
request
for
rezoning
from
r2
to
b2
so
that
it
could
be
used
for
again
for
a
small
car
dealership.
So
a
lot
of
discussion
there.
Ultimately
council
turned
down
the
rezoning
request,
but
had
entrance
interest
in
moving
forward
with
a
Planned
Unit
development.
A
Let's
just
allows
for
more
customized
requirements
as
far
as
the
development
is
concerned,
so
we'll
look
at
moving
that
forward
under
a
different
classification.
We
have
pointed
sue
Grove
to
the
library
board.
If
you're
interested
in
serving
on
one
of
our
committees,
don't
hesitate
to
give
us
collars
plenty
of
opportunities
to
get
involved
in
city
government
we'd.
Welcome
your
participation.
We
had
a
donation
to
the
city
and
then
we
also
approved
a
engineering
services
contract
for
out
of
the
airport
and
that's
in
relation
to
the
National
Guard
Armory
as
well.
