B
Well,
it
started
10
years
ago,
when
I
moved
here
from
hawaii,
I
started
at
central
oregon
community
college.
Then
I
got
hired
as
a
reserve
six
years
ago
and
I've
been
with
the
department
for
five
and
a
half
years
now
for
five
and
a
half
years,
I've
worked
in
the
patrol
division,
so
that
entails
a
lot
of
things
right.
Primarily,
we
are
out
there
doing
calls
for
service
from
our
community.
You
know
you
call
9-1-1
non-emergency,
our
dispatchers
get
the
call
and
they
come
out
to
us
with
that.
B
It
could
be
a
simple
theft
from
safeway.
It
could
be
a
motor
vehicle
that
was
just
stolen
right
and
what
people
don't
also
realize
is
we're
usually
first
on
cardiac
arrest
as
well,
so
rapidly
changing
our
calls
for
service,
but
at
the
end
of
the
day
it
is
community
based
we're
serving
our
community
and
that's
what
deep
down
inside.
We
all
love
to
do
right
and.
A
C
C
B
C
All
of
the
media
requests
stuff,
like
that,
you
know
we
have
over
a
hundred
sworn
staff
members
who
are
out
answering
calls
for
emergency
they're,
going
to
duis
they're
investigating
crimes,
and
then
we
have
almost
30
support
staff
like
me,
who
help
support
all
of
our
police
and
make
sure
that
they
can
do
their
job
safely
and
efficiently.
So,
as.
B
So
the
biggest
thing
for
us,
I
think,
is
calls
for
service.
Okay,
first
and
foremost,
we
want
to
serve
everybody
as
fast
as
we
can
no
matter
what
the
call
is
right
because
to
you
something
might
be
severe
when
in
my
world
it
might
not,
but
calls
for
service.
You
know,
sometimes
we're
serving
a
hundred
thousand
plus
people
fluctuate
in
the
summer.
We
are
busy
right.
I
can.
I
can
remember
days
where
it's
called
a
call
to
call
no
lunch
and
I'm
staying
late
to
type
out
priority
reports.
B
A
C
So
we
have
officers
that
are
assigned
to
our
local
swat
team
right.
That's
the
central
oregon
emergency
response
team.
We
also
have
officers
who
serve
on
our
central
oregon
drug
enforcement
team,
and
then
we
have
you
know
we
have
canine
units,
our
dogs,
we
also
have
traffic
officers,
and
actually
we
have
a
two
person
dui
team,
that
their
whole
job
is
they're
out.
Looking
for
duis
and
distracted
and
and
aggressive
driving,
we
have
community
service
officers
who
go
to
some
of
the
low-level
calls
like
an
abandoned
vehicle
or
a
dog
complaint.
C
Something
like
that.
We,
you
know
we
have
a
detective
division
who
handles
some
of
those
bigger
investigations
that
take
longer
so
we've
got
lots
of
people
doing
lots
of
things.
Most
of
our
officers
are
also
certified
for
crisis
intervention
training
and
that
helps
them
approach.
People
who
might
be
having
mental
health
issues
as
well.
B
C
B
So
we
can
get
places
faster,
but
then
there
comes
the
theft
in
progress
right.
So
everything
stops
for
that
high
priority.
Then
everything
can
slow
down
and
begin
again.
But
another
thing
with
the
growing
population
is
we
have
proactive,
cops
right.
Our
community
likes
to
see
us
out
there
putting
together
good
cases
that
didn't
start
from
a
call
right
for
service,
but
with
the
growing
population
and
not
enough
people
on
the
road
that
becomes
tough.
So
we
want
to
serve
the
best
we
can
and
we
need
to
kind
of
reflect
our
number
of
people.
C
So
we
have,
we
have
school
resource
officers
in
our
schools
in
the.
A
Hello
engage
with
them;
they
love
it
right.
I've
seen
them
about
the
community.
I
think
the
community
is
like
it's
nice
to
see
that
and
it's
fun.
You
know
it's
bend
right.
What's
one
thing
that
you'd
like
to
share
the
community
to
the
community
that
maybe
they're
not
aware
of.
C
You
know
our
we
have
opportunities
for
community
to
be
involved.
We
have
a
community
academy
that
runs
every,
I
think
twice
a
year,
so
that's
an
option
if
you're
interested
in
the
police
work
that
we
do
and
you
want
to
know
a
little
bit
more.
If
you
want
to
see
what
it's
like
to
be
a
police
officer,
you
can
also
go
on
a
ride-along.
You
can
fill
out
an
application
and
do
a
little
background
check
and
then
they'll.
Take
you
out
on
a
on
a
four
hour
of
their
shift.
