Description
Public Works officials explain where the stormwater fees are being used to upgrade facilities.

In
a
stormwater
facility
at
the
corner
of
15th
and
bear
creek,
what
this
facility
does
is
it's
purpose
facility,
so
the
water
comes
off
the
roadway
and
sinks
into
the
ground
where,
as
sediments
in
the
ground,
pollutants
from
the
roadway
are
trapped
in
the
ground
and
get
some
treatment.
any
overflow
that
goes
into
a
basin
a
dry
well,
and
is
absorbed
into
the
ground.
That
way.

Of
longfellow,,
boyd,
acres
and
butler
market
we've
got
some
original
storm
drains
that
were
constructed
in
a
little
bit
high
of
an
elevation
to
collect
the
water
from
the
lowest
part
in
the
street.
So
we
were
able
to
install
a
new
basin
and
pipe
it
into
the
original
basin
and
therefore
get
rid
of
a
water
problem.
D
D
here
at
the
se
corner
of
colorado
and
the
parkway,.
We
have
worked
with
the
state
dot
to
get
permission
to
do
a
holding
basin
here
for
stormwater,
which
comes
from
3rd
st..
To
do
this,
we
had
to
have
an
archeology
study,
some
ground
work,,
some
well
studies
to
see
where
the
water
will
go
and
the
permeability
of
the
soil.
D
If
you
live
in
the
area,
you
know
it's
a
major
problem
for
us
when
it's
raining.
whenever
we
have
a
major
storm,
we
have
pumps
in
place
here
and
we've
got
design
and
permitting
to
move
the
water
from
here
to
the
colorado
interchange..
This
concept
may
also
be
part
of
the
solution
for
franklin
and
greenwood
underpasses.
C
To
do
public
outreach,
we
have
a
watershed,
diorama
that
we
take
to
schools
and
an
important
of
water
quality
protection
is
the
maintenance
program.
We
have.
our
crews,
go
out
and
vactor
each
of
our
storm
drain
facilities,
and
we
also
have
a
sweeper
program
to
prevent
a
lot
of
that
material
from
getting
into
the
storm
drains..
B
We
as
a
community
have
to
rely
on
that
water
source
and
one
way
to
preserve
that
groundwater
is
having
a
stormwater
program,
all
the
water
you
see,
that
is
on
the
surface
in
the
city
after
a
rainstorm
or
snow
event,
all
percollates
to
the
soil,
ultimately
reaching
our
groundwater
table..
It's
up
to
us
to
protect
that
groundwater
table
for
us
and
future
generations
to
enjoy
that
water..
