From YouTube: Biloxi Covid 19 Update 4 8 2020
Description
Test numbers; curfew update; crime numbers
A
Hello,
long
vincent
creel,
public
affairs
manager
for
the
city
of
Biloxi
and
I'm
here
to
deliver
today's
be
prepared
video
report
we're
recording
this
program
on
Wednesday
April,
8th
at
2
o'clock.
The
latest
numbers
reported
by
the
Mississippi
State
Department
of
Health
show,
as
expected,
a
statewide
increase
in
the
number
of
positive
coronavirus
cases.
A
Mississippi
has
now
crossed
the
two
thousand
mark.
As
of
today
April
eighth,
the
state
reports
2030
positive
tests
for
the
corona
virus.
That
is
an
increase
of
88.
From
yesterday.
The
state
has
now
reported
67
deaths
statewide,
which
is
an
increase
by
eight
from
yesterday.
Harrison
County
today
is
reporting
a
total
of
88
positive
cases
in
a
total
of
30
deaths.
You
can
also
see
this
chart
on
the
city's
website
and
Facebook
page.
Let
me
say
a
word
about
these
numbers.
A
You
have
to
remember
that
the
Health
Department
can
conduct
only
so
many
tests
a
day
and
they
have
not
reported
the
numbers
from
private
tests
since
April
5.
We
don't
say
this
to
alarm
you.
We
say
this
to
make
sure
you
are
aware
that
more
cases
are
expected
and
more
individuals
with
mild
symptoms
that
do
not
allow
for
testing
they're
still
out
there.
Please
follow
CDC
guidelines,
the
shelter
in
place
order
and
the
curfew
limit
your
travel
and
by
all
means
be
off
the
roads.
A
Well,
before
11
o'clock,
every
night,
the
curfew
Mayor
Gilles,
believes
is
working.
Since
the
curfew
began
on
April
2,
the
police
department
has
stopped
45
people
who
were
out
after
curfew.
Most
were
steered
home
without
incident.
Three
people
were
arrested
for
violating
the
curfew.
In
other
news,
the
police
department
reports
that
property
crimes,
which
include
burglaries
and
all
types
of
larceny,
are
down
51
percent
from
this
time
last
year.
If
you
look
at
the
numbers
for
the
past
five
years,
the
rate
right
now
is
38%
full
of
the
average.
A
The
mayor
and
the
council
on
Tuesday
night
were
very
appreciative
of
the
cooperation
we're
continuing
to
see
from
the
public.
We
need
to
flatten
the
curve
and
get
to
normal
activities
as
soon
as
possible,
but
we
need
everyone
to
limit
their
travel
and
limit
activities
with
others.
You
can
still
go
for
a
drive
or
a
walk
by
yourself
and
get
physical
and
mental
exercise.
The
city's
two
dog
parks
are
closed
and
other
parks
such
as
Hiller
Pennzoil
and
the
causeway
are
open
for
individuals.
During
the
day
from
6
a.m.
to
6
p.m.
A
you
must
keep
moving
move
along
as
the
police
say,
there's
no
basketball,
no
disc
golf
or
really
any
other
kind
of
organized
activities
as
individuals.
You
can
use
the
walking
tracks
or
trails
at
the
parts.
Of
course
the
beach
remains
closed,
but
you
can
still
use
the
boardwalk
if
you
have
to
be
around
others.
Keep
your
distance
wear
a
mask
and
if
you
need
to
wear
gloves
help
to
stop
the
spread.
Your
city,
government
and
all
city
departments
remain
on
the
job.
A
Police
and
fire
are
fully
staffed
and,
while
all
non-emergency
buildings
are
closed
to
the
public,
the
city
is
maintaining
reduced
emergency
staffing
levels
in
all
departments.
We're
asking
you
to
please
do
all
of
your
business
by
phone,
email
or
online.
We
ask
that
you
visit
the
city's
website
at
Biloxi
MS
us
to
read
the
latest
download
forms
or
get
telephone
numbers
to
different
city
departments.
While
you
are
there,
you
can
also
check
out
the
City
Council
meeting
from
Tuesday
night
or
from
any
previous
meeting.
A
Their
stream
live
during
the
meeting
times,
and
the
recorded
versions
are
available
on
the
city's
youtube
channel
and
on
Bee
TV.
Remember
we're
all
in
this
together,
but
we
have
to
work
together.
The
city
of
Biloxi
applauds
two
health
care
workers
as
the
police
officers,
firefighters,
dispatchers
and
all
those
who
help
keep
us
safe
and
functioning.
As
we
end
I
want
to
leave
you
with
this
video
tribute
to
the
health
care
workers
that
merit
health
here
in
Biloxi.
