From YouTube: Biloxi Covid 19 Update 4 6 2020
Description
Updated numbers; limit travel; scams; park limitations
A
Hello,
I'm
Vincent
Creole
public
affairs
manager
for
the
city
of
Biloxi
and
I'm
here
with
Biloxi
Police
Chief
John
Miller
to
deliver
today's
be
prepared,
video,
we're
recording
this
update
on
Monday
April
6th
at
2:45
women.
We've
been
doing
these
videos
for
more
than
two
weeks
now,
as
you
have
heard,
and
seen,
the
corona
virus
cases
continue
to
increase
across
the
state
as
well
as
the
nation.
Today,
the
Mississippi
Department
of
Health
has
reported
that
there
have
been
confirmed,
1738
positive
tests,
statewide,
that's
an
increase
of
100
from
yesterday.
A
The
state
also
reports
a
total
of
51
deaths.
That
is
up
by
eight
from
yesterday
in
Harrison
County.
The
total
number
of
positives
reported
by
the
Health
Department
is
79.
That's
an
increase
of
six
from
yesterday.
Harrison
County
has
also
had
three
deaths
according
to
the
state,
these
numbers
that
we
are
telling
you
or
positive
confirmed
tests.
There
are
a
number
of
people
in
hospitals
with
the
virus
are
waiting
to
hear
their
test
results.
There
are
also
a
number
who
have
been
unable
to
be
tested
to
determine
if
they
are
positive
for
the
virus.
A
This
is
a
serious
virus
that
continues
to
infect,
and
the
numbers
will
continue
to
rise.
You
should
not
be
alarmed
just
follow
directions.
Mayor
Gillis
applauds
all
the
health
care
workers
who
are
on
the
frontlines
fighting
this
battle
and
all
of
our
first
responders
who
continue
to
provide
services.
We
all
expect
and
deserve
all
city
departments
and
divisions
continue
to
be
on
the
job.
A
We
just
ask
that
you
conduct
business
by
phone,
email
or
online
business
is
getting
done
last
week,
for
instance,
the
city's
Community
Development
Department
issued
2.1
million
dollars
in
construction
permits
the
week
before
that
it
was
one
point,
seven
million
dollars
in
permits.
These
are
construction
projects,
both
public
and
private,
that
can
be
accomplished
while
it's
about,
while
respecting
social,
dist
sensing.
It's
the
same
thing
in
the
city's
engineering
department
staff
engineers
are
working
either
in
the
office
or
from
home
to
review
plans
for
construction
projects,
both
public
and
private.
A
While
we
say
that
we
ask
such
a
general
public
to
please
remember,
we
are
under
a
statewide
shelter-in-place
order
and
in
Biloxi
a
nightly
curfew,
we're
asking
for
essential
travel.
Only
joining
me
now
is
Biloxi.
Police
Chief
John
Miller
chief.
What
are
you
seeing
and
what
do
you
say?
What
do
people
need
to
know?
Well,.
B
What
I
want
to
talk
about
today
or
scams
throughout
the
United
States?
There
have
been
several
email
scams
that
have
been
identified,
where
it
appears
that
the
information
is
coming
from
the
CDC
when
in
actuality
is
just
a
phishing
scam
and
all
they're
trying
to
do
is
get
your
personal
information,
so
be
very
aware
of
those.
If
you
need
information
on
uncoded
go
straight
to
the
CDC
website
and
get
it
from
there,
don't
just
something
that
pops
up.
That
looks
like
it's
interesting
to
you.
Take
a
look
at
it.
B
B
They
claim
that
they're
a
cure
for
Coe,
but
there
is
no
cure
for
kovat,
so
don't
fall
into
that
trap
and
then,
secondly,
there's
a
lot
of
companies
appear
to
be
companies
that
really
aren't
companies
that
are
that
are
trying
to
sell
products
like
respirators
and
and
just
a
myriad
of
things,
to
help
keep
you
protected
from
Koated.
Most
of
them
are
fraudulent;
they
don't
work
if
you're
going
to
buy
products
face,
mask
respirators,
buy
them
from
somebody
or
some
company.
That's
legitimate!
Do
your
check?
B
B
We've
encountered
quite
a
few
people
out
after
curfew,
we've
encountered
several
large
groups
of
people
still
gathering.
The
word
seems
to
be
getting
out
more.
We
haven't
had
with
the
exception
of
one
group
that
became
a
bit
verbal
when
we
asked
him
to
disperse.
Most
people
are
doing
what
we're
asking
them
to
do.
We
haven't
seen
any
real
issues
once
we've
confronted
it,
but
we're
getting
to
that
point
now,
where
it's
it's
getting
old
confronting
people.
Everyone
knows
everyone
knows
that.
There's
a
curfew.
A
It's
individual
recreation
and
fitness
right.
That's
what
it
is.
Okay,
anything
else,
I
think
that's
it!
Thank
you
very
much,
chief
Miller.
If
anybody
wants
to
email,
John
Miller,
you
can
email
him
at
Jay
Miller
at
Biloxi,
MS,
us
chief
Miller
I,
want
to
thank
you
for
joining
us
today.
I
also
want
to
remind
people
that
we
are
indeed
aware
of
social
distancing,
but
for
the
purpose
of
this
one,
video
right,
we
come
together.
A
Generally,
we
stay
as
far
apart
as
we
are
sanitized,
okay,
you're
exactly
right
and
to
you,
I
want
to
thank
you
for
taking
the
time
to
watch
or
listen
to
these
videos.
We
average
more
than
3,000
views
a
day
on
our
various
platforms,
whether
it
be
Facebook
the
city's
website,
the
city's
YouTube
channel
or
on
B
TV
mayor
Gillis
believes
that
the
vast
majority
of
people
are
taking
this
pandemic
seriously
and
taking
the
precautions.
A
They
need
to
take
we're
all
in
this
together
and
we
need
the
cooperation
of
everyone
to
get
through
this
and,
as
the
mayor
has
said
more
than
once,
we
will
get
through
this
and
we
will
be
better
than
ever
tomorrow.
We're
going
to
let
the
City
Council
meeting
service,
our
update,
the
meeting
will
be
streamed,
live
on
the
city's
website
at
six
o'clock,
just
go
to
Biloxi,
MS
us
and
click
on
the
lighthouse
on
the
top
left
for
mayor
Gillick.
We
say:
god
bless
you
and
God
bless
Biloxi.
A
One
last
thing:
since
we're
not
going
to
be
on
tomorrow,
we're
going
to
close
this
program
with
our
good
friend
ray
foon,
a
rock
and
Ray
is
going
to
remind
us
why
we
love
this
city.
So
much
I
want
to
thank
Cecilia,
Dobbs
Walton,
the
public
affairs
specialist,
who
wrote
the
entire
program
today.
I
want
to
thank
Reni
Sherman
for
continuing
to
do
a
masterful
job
of
editing.
He
built
this
set
overnight.
Is
it's
not
remarks
nice,
Thank,
You
Rani,
and
thank
you
for
watching.
