Description
Latest numbers; Engineering progress report; time lapse of pedestrian crosswalk near the Small Craft Harbor.
A
Hello,
my
name
is
Isaiah
Dobbs
Walton
and
I'm
the
public
affairs
specialist
for
the
city
of
Biloxi
I'm
here
to
deliver
today's
be
prepared
report.
This
is
being
recorded
on
Thursday
8:00
for
the
30th
2020
at
1:30
p.m.
today.
The
Mississippi
State
Department
of
Health
reports
that
in
the
past
24
hours,
246
new
cases
of
the
corona
virus
were
diagnosed
throughout
the
state.
There
were
also
11
new
deaths
from
the
corona
virus.
This
brings
the
statewide
total
to
six
thousand
eight
hundred
and
fifteen
cases
with
261
deaths
in
Harrison
County.
A
Three
new
cases
were
reported
in
the
past
24
hours
and
no
new
deaths.
This
chart,
which
is
also
on
the
city's
website,
shows
the
14
day
trend
in
Harrison
County
in
Jackson
County.
There
were
four
new
cases
of
the
corona
virus
reported
and
no
new
deaths.
One
new
case
was
reported
in
Hancock
County
and
no
new
deaths
were
reported
as
well
as
we
continue
to
navigate
through
the
corona
virus
pandemic.
Mayor
Gillis
continues
to
follow
the
state
and
county
numbers
daily,
as
well
as
the
hospitalizations
along
the
coast.
A
Those
numbers
are
declining,
fewer
patients
are
being
emitted
with
the
virus
and
even
fewer
are
currently
in
ICU.
In
fact,
about
two
dozen
people
are
being
treated
for
the
corona
virus
in
the
three
coastal
counties
with
less
than
half
a
dozen
in
ICU
mayor
Gillis
also
continues
to
fine-tune
guidelines
to
open
up
Biloxi
again
he
wants
Biloxi
to
be
ready
and
safe.
Mayor
village
has
been
pointing
out
the
new
expectations
and
guidelines
in
meetings
with
various
sectors
of
Biloxi
businesses
throughout
the
community.
The
entire
public
will
see
them
soon
at
the
right
time.
A
Things
are
moving
forward.
Yesterday,
director,
Jerry
creel
told
you
about
the
progress
on
development
projects.
Today
is
an
update
on
engineering
projects
that
continue
to
move
forward
in
the
city
here.
To
give
a
progress
report
is
the
Biloxi
engineer,
departments,
director,
Christie,
Lovato,
hello,.
B
B
B
As
you
can
see,
the
city
of
Biloxi
has
a
lot
of
projects
that
are
moving
forward
and
many
moving
towards
construction.
We
also
have
quite
a
few
that
we're
still
working
on
securing
funding
for
or
are
still
in,
the
design
phase
to
see.
The
details
about
each
of
the
current
projects,
please
visit
the
major
projects.
Tab
on
the
side
of
the
city's
website,
just
go
online
to
Biloxi,
MS
us
and
you
will
find
the
tab
under
resources.
I
do,
however,
want
to
touch
on
a
few
projects.
B
Bellamy
Parkway
project
is
under
construction
and
currently
is
proceeding
without
issues
it
is
expected
to
be
completed
by
early
fall
we
have
some
paving
coming
up
will
be
paving
some
streets
in
the
sunkissed
area,
such
as
rust,
would
bei
would
Darwin
as
well
as
Camp
Wilkes
the
parking
lot
at
the
small
craft
harbours
McElroy's
restaurant,
along
with
Hattie
care
and
web
Lane
and
we'll
market.
The
city
recently
awarded
a
project
to
construct
a
park
in
the
Eagle
Point
area.
B
This
project
should
be
starting
early
summer
and
will
include
a
soccer
field,
walking
track
and
basketball
court.
The
East
Biloxi
connector
road,
which
will
connect
Crawford
Street
to
Dori
Street
north
of
the
railroad
track,
will
start
construction
in
May.
This
roadway
is
being
constructed
to
provide
these
East
Biloxi
subdivisions
with
connectivity
when
some
of
the
railroad
crossings
are
closed
in
this
area.
B
Also
in
East
Biloxi
we're
finishing
up
the
John
Henry
Beck
Park
restroom
project,
the
building
is
complete
and
as
soon
as
we
close
off
the
construction
contract
and
once
the
Biloxi
parks
are
open
back
up,
it
will
be
available
for
public
use.
For
those
of
you
who,
like
to
finish
off
of
the
highway
90
Fisher
bridge,
you've
noticed
that
there
are
a
lot
of
lights
out
on
that
bridge.
B
We
have
a
project
that
will
be
opening
bids
on
May
6
to
replace
all
the
lighting
fixtures
key
circuit
outside,
which
is
also
known
as
a
Division
Street
project.
We
have
already
started
moving
two
of
the
four
historic
homes
and
we
will
begin
to
militia
of
the
remaining
structures
in
May.
We
anticipate
this
project
going
out
to
bed
the
end
of
May,
beginning
of
June
timeframe.
B
Q,
sir
gate
inside
is
almost
complete.
The
roundabout
at
Forest
Avenue
is
essentially
complete,
except
for
the
asphalt
which
a
city
is
going
to
be
doing
outside
of
the
current
construction
contract.
The
intersection
of
C,
Street
and
larger
inside
the
base
is
still
under
construction
as
well
once
that
project
is
complete
and
Kiesel
constructs
the
Visitor
Center
building
that
will
be
open
for
base
traffic.
B
We
have
recently
completed
the
East
Biloxi
boardwalk
that
wraps
around
the
point
cadet
area
from
south
of
hot
us
90
at
the
point,
cadet
marina
to
the
parking
lot
north
of
the
pavilion
on
the
north
side
of
u.s.
90.
Since
that
project
is
now
complete.
The
mayor
has
asked
us
to
move
forward
with
a
shoreline
restoration
project
design.
Work
has
just
kicked
off
on
that
project.
As
for
the
West
Biloxi
boardwalk,
that
starts
on
Veterans
and
goes
to
Camellia.
This
project
is
currently
construction
and
expected
to
be
complete
and
early
fall.
B
One
of
our
most
visible
projects
right
now
is
a
singer
theater.
We
are
currently
replacing
the
fly
Tower
and
steel
structure
over
the
fly
tower
in
order
to
seal
up
that
portion
of
the
building
the
flight
hour
is
the
portion
of
the
building
above
the
roof
over
the
stage
it
contains
all
the
seal
structure
and
the
rigging
for
the
curtain
system.
The
project
will
also
see
the
replacement
of
the
roof
and
the
exterior
HVAC
system.
It
is
expected
to
be
complete
by
the
end
of
2020
or
early
2021.
B
As
you
can
see,
we
have
a
lot
of
work
or
along
the
city
of
Biloxi.
This
is
only
a
portion
of
projects
that
the
mayor
has
undertaken.
Since
he
took
office.
It
continues
to
assess
what
the
real
needs
are
for
the
citizens,
whether
it
be
water,
sewer
and
drainage
upgrades,
addressing
environmental
concerns
like
Higa,
Bayou
or
simply
trying
to
ensure
our
way
of
life
here
is
maintained
and
that
we
all
continue
to
have
access
to
our
beautiful
waterfront
like
the
boardwalk
projects.
B
A
Thank
You
Christy
things
are
continuing
to
happen
throughout
the
community
and
within
Biloxi.
All
non-emergency
city
offices
continue
to
work
by
phone
email
and
through
online
services.
Restaurants
are
still
open.
Only
for
curbside
drive
up
and
delivery
no
inside
or
outside
dining
beaches
are
open
to
groups

Biloxi
remains
on
a

each
day
continue

That's
today's.
B
A
Check
back
again
tomorrow,
on
behalf
of
mayor
Gillick
and
the
members
of
the
Biloxi
City
Council,
we
say
god
bless
you
and
God
bless.
Biloxi
new
construction
was
in
the
report
yesterday,
and
so
we
leave
you
with
a
time-lapse
video
of
the
installation
with
the
pedestrian
crosswalk
just
north
of
the
small
craft
harbor.
