A
Welcome
to
this
week's
edition
of
biloxi
a
to
z.
This
is
for
friday
october,
8th
2021,
we're
cruising
into
the
weekend
and
what
a
week
it's
been
today,
we're
also
going
to
give
you
an
update
on
the
city's
operation
clean
sweep,
we'll
give
you
the
latest
from
the
saenger
theater
and
we'll
have
your
weekend
preview
and
forecast.
A
A
Director
woody
bailey
told
us
a
month
ago
that
we
could
see
9,
000
or
more
registered
cruisers
for
this
year's
25th
anniversary
edition
and
woody
was
right
on
the
money
they
started
with
8
400
cruisers
pre-registered
and
the
registrations
pass
9000
by
midweek
and
they're
still
registering
the
visitors
are
enjoying
our
tropical
climate
and
hospitality
from
one
coast
to
another
and,
of
course,
with
all
this
fun
and
revelry
comes
traffic,
lots
of
it.
Here's
a
word
or
two
from
our
friend
captain
brian
dykes
of
the
biloxi
police
department,.
B
Hello,
I'm
captain
brian
dykes,
the
special
events
and
public
information
officer
for
the
biloxi
police
department,
I'd
like
to
welcome
you
to
biloxi
and
hope
that
you
have
a
wonderful
stay
here
for
cruising
the
coast.
Let
me
take
this
opportunity
to
provide
you
with
some
information
that
hopefully
will
make
your
stay
a
little
more
pleasant
cruising
the
coast
is
a
traffic
centric
event,
meaning
you
can
expect
heavy
traffic
delays.
B
I
know
it
sounds
kind
of
funny
to
say
that,
but
you'd
be
amazed
at
how
often
it
happens
during
these
events
you're
not
allowed
to
park
in
a
median
or
unpaved
park
public
area,
please
do
park
in
the
public
parking
bays
along
u.s
90,
but
only
until
10
pm,
all
u.s
90
parking,
bays,
close
at
10
pm
and
any
cars
left
behind
will
be
towed
at
the
owner's
expense,
you'll
also
notice
on
highway
90.
There
are
large
cones
separating
the
lanes.
B
B
If
the
traffic
reaches
a
standstill,
all
the
traffic
will
be
moved
over
into
the
right-hand
lane,
and
the
left-hand
lane
will
be
reserved
for
emergency
vehicles
only
like
ambulances
and
fire
trucks
and
police
cars.
And
if
you
have
any
questions
about
this
or
anything
else,
please
feel
free
to
call
the
biloxi
police
department
at
228-392-0641.
A
A
One
truck
is
continuing
to
work
north
of
the
bay
in
the
cedar
lake
area
and
it's
going
to
move
to
south
of
the
bay
in
wards
4
and
six
today.
The
second
truck
has
been
working
in
west
biloxi
between
white
avenue
and
rodenburg.
It's
going
to
be
moving
to
north
of
the
csx
railway.
Today,
working
between
iberville
and
veterans
know
this.
Both
trucks
are
going
to
work
half
a
day
saturday
and
they're
going
to
return
to
work
next
week,
monday
through
wednesday,
they'll
be
in
wards.
3,
4,
5
and
6.
A
C
And
now
for
the
latest,
on
the
coronavirus,
as
of
thursday
october,
the
7th
the
health
department
reports
more
than
1100
new
cases
of
the
virus
statewide
in
a
24-hour
period.
The
state
also
reports
10
deaths
in
harrison
county
62,
new
cobot
19
cases
were
reported
on
thursday
and
one
new
death.
Overall,
more
than
490
000
cases
of
the
virus
have
been
reported
throughout
mississippi.
Since
the
pandemic
began
19
months
ago,
statewide
nearly
9
800
mississippians
have
died
from
covet
19.
C
in
harrison
county.
Nearly
34
000
cases
of
the
virus
have
been
reported
with
521
deaths
at
the
hospitals.
We
are
continuing
to
see
a
downward
trend
of
covet
hospitalizations,
but
people
are
still
being
admitted
with
the
virus.
As
of
tuesday
october,
the
5th
nearly
400
people
were
in
mississippi
hospitals
with
covet
19.
C
148
of
those
were
intensive
care
units
along
the
coast.
33
people
were
in
hospitals
with
the
virus
and
19
of
those
when
intensive
care
units.
As
for
mississippi's
low
vaccination
rate
as
of
wednesday
october,
the
6th
42
percent
of
the
population
is
fully
vaccinated.
As
for
harrison
county
still,
only
38
percent
of
residents
are
reported
as
fully
vaccinated.
According
to
the
health
department,
memorial
hospital
has
a
covid19
walk-in
vaccine
clinic
in
biloxi,
located
at
189
c
walmart
lane.
The
clinic
is
open.
Weekdays
from
7
am
to
5
pm.
A
The
roof
has
been
replaced.
A
new
heating
and
cooling
system
have
been
installed
and
extensive.
Brickwork
has
been
completed
on
the
fly
tower
and
the
north
east
and
south
sides
of
the
building
the
exterior
brickwork
has
now
moved
to
the
west
side
or
the
front
of
the
1929
era.
Theater.
You
may
also
notice
that
the
canopy
is
getting
some
attention
with
new
material
being
installed.
As
for
the
inside,
some
painting
and
repair
work
to
the
walls
has
been
completed.
A
So
what's
next,
the
city
has
requested
a
million
dollar
grant
from
the
gulf
coast
restoration
fund
that
would
complete
more
interior
work.
No
word
has
been
received
on
the
grant
and,
alas,
there's
no
word
on
when
the
theater
will
reopen
to
the
community,
but
make
no
mistake.
Progress
is
being
made
on
this
important
project.
C
This
weekend
the
weather
is
forecast
to
be
sunny
with
temperatures
in
the
60s
70s
and
80s.
It
should
be
nice
for
cruising
while
cruising
the
coast
continues
throughout
the
weekend
over
at
the
edgewater
mall,
there
will
be
live,
entertainment

lot

meet
