From YouTube: East Biloxi infrastructure update, Aug. 17, 2017
Description
Project superintendent John Cowart with Oscar Renda Contracting, the firm rebuilding and replacing infrastructure covering 55 miles of streets north of the CSX railway in east Biloxi, provided this update on the project.
A
I'm
Jon
Cowart
general
superintendent,
with
Oscar
reading
the
contracting
here
today
to
give
a
progress
update.
As
you
know,
we
have
received
record
rainfall
in
South
Mississippi
this
spring
and
summer,
which
has
had
a
major
effect
on
our
productivity
on
the
North
project.
Every
rain
event
that
we
experienced
on
the
North
project
not
only
affects
the
day
of
the
rain,
but
several
days
afterwards,
as
we
have
to
pump
out
the
existing
drainage
system
that
we're
attempting
to
remove
and
install
the
new
drainage.
Every
month
we
formulate
a
comprehensive
progress
and
completion
schedule.
A
Unfortunately,
Mother
Nature
has
her
own
schedule
on
the
east
end
of
the
project
between
penny
and
stron
ji,
a
venir
we're
working
to
complete
the
main
drainage
system
for
this
area.
The
Lorenz
diameter
box,
culvert
runs
south
of
division,
then
turns
west
on
Hester
heading
all
the
way
to
Keller
Alvin.
Here
once
this
system
is
in
place,
the
flooding
that
occurs
on
Holly,
Brown
fountain
Dorries
Astrology
should
be
alleviated
on
Division
Street
between
Lee
Ann
Nichols.
A
We
are
working
to
complete
the
610,
well
I'm,
stone
base
the
drainage
structure
boxes
and
are
beginning
to
install
the
Kirby.
This
will
allow
us
to
pave
this
section.
We
anticipate
this
work
weather
permitting
to
be
completed
in
the
next
few
weeks.
We
are
also
working
to
install
the
610
Lam
stone
on
Roy
Street
east
of
Nichols.
A
This
is
the
entrance
for
the
school
buses
in
the
Nichols
Elementary,
and
we
anticipate
this
work
to
be
complete
in
the
next
two
to
three
weeks
weather,
permitting
at
the
request
of
the
city
of
Biloxi,
Oscar
Angela's
asked
to
have
Nichol
Street
north
of
the
vision
paved
and
ready
to
go
for
the
beginning
of
school.
This
goal
was
met,
weather
permitting
Oscar
in
the
plans
on
having
a
crew
begin,
the
installation
of
the
610
line
stone
on
Nichol
Street
south
of
division.
A
Starting
next
week
we
have
a
crew
scheduled
to
begin
the
installation
of
a
new
drainage
on
Nixon
Street
south
of
division,
starting
as
early
as
next
week.
This
will
be
the
final
utility
for
this
street,
which
will
allow
us
to
place
the
610
limestone
followed
by
paving.
We
have
multiple
crews
working
on
installing
the
new
drain
system
on
Esther
from
Ali,
headed
west
all
the
way
to
Holly
Street.
This
work
will
continue
over
the
next
few
weeks.
A
Once
this
is
complete,
we
will
also
be
able
to
place
six
ten
long
stone
in
this
area
towards
the
west
end
of
the
project
on
the
business
street.
We
have
been
delayed
by
a
full
inch
gas
main
that
is
yet
to
be
moved
by
CenterPoint
Energy.
The
city
of
Biloxi
is
coordinating
with
Centrepointe
to
move
this
line,
so
we
can
continue
with
our
deep
gravity,
main
from
the
intersection
of
rain
or
heading
east
to
the
High
Point
at
Nixon,
while
the
gas
main
is
being
relocated.
A
We
have
moved
this
sewer
crew
back
on
division
to
the
intersection
of
both
fayard
and
angle
auto,
and
they
are
installing
the
sewer
line
to
the
north
off
of
division
on
both
of
these
streets
on
Percy
under
the
I-110
bridge,
we
are
working
to
complete
both
the
sewer
and
storm
drain
in
this
area.
This
work
will
be
ongoing
over
the
next
couple
of
months,
both
Iroquois
and
Thelma
south
of
division
were
paid.
Last
week
we
have
a
subcontractor
on
site
installing
both
sidewalk
and
driveways,
on
seal
Avenue,
south
of
division,
Thelma
and
Eric
want.
A
This
work
will
be
ongoing
over
the
next
couple
months
on
Porter
North
Division,
we're
continuing
to
work
on
both
the
drainage
and
drainage
structures.
We
have
made
it
past
North
Park,
and
only
have
a
couple
streets
left
before
we'll
drop
back
and
install
the
main
drainage
line
on
Porter
Avenue,
which
will
allow
us
to
begin
closing
up
this
area.
This
work
will
be
ongoing
into
the
fall.
We
appreciate
your
patience
and
hope
that
a
drier
fall
will
allow
us
to
pursue
a
more
aggressive
production
schedule.
