A
Good
morning,
welcome
to
this
ribbon-cutting
ceremony
for
fire
station
number
10
the
latest
station
to
come
in
service
here
for
the
city
of
Biloxi.
We
have
a
program
that
we're
going
to
be
going
by
this
morning.
Most
of
you
have
it
in
your
seats.
We
also
have
some
special
guests
that
we
would
like
to
acknowledge,
who
are
with
us
this
morning,
harrison
county
supervisor.
Connie
rocco
is
with
us.
We
want
to
thank
her
for
being
here.
A
A
A
B
Thank
You
Vincent.
No,
it's
a
great
pleasure
to
be
here
today.
You
know
things
are
happening
around
the
city
and
and
I
can't
take
any
credit
for
it
because
the
you
know
the
leadership
of
the
city
Mike
Leonard,
especially
the
contractors
SMP
DD,
who
made
some
things
happen
from
a
chip
standpoint.
But
you
know
it's
it's
one
of
a
a
few
things
that
we're
going
to
do
very
shortly,
and
so
we're
really
excited
and
I'm
not
gonna,
take
any
more
time
but
just
to
say
to
everybody
here.
B
This
is
a
great
addition
to
the
city
of
Biloxi
that
response
time.
Connie
will
be
right
there
at
your
house
in
case
the
hey,
okay,
so
hopefully
but
but
Joe,
and
then
we'll
put
you
know
and
the
programs
that
they
have
to
prevent
things.
That
would
require
that.
So
we're
real
pleased
to
to
do
this,
and
so
with
that
I'll
turn
you
back
over
to
you.
Thank
you
all
very
much.
A
C
Good
morning
and
I'll
be
brief,
like
like
you
mayor,
but
on
behalf
of
the
whole
Biloxi
Fire
Department
family.
We
want
to
thank
each
and
every
one
of
you
for
coming
out
here
today
and
celebrating
this
dedication
with
us
there's
so
many
people
I
must
thank
for
getting
us
to
this
point
and
if
I
forget
to
mention
your
name,
please
forgive
me
first
off
to
my
wife
Nancy.
Thank
you
very
much.
C
He
put
up
with
a
lot
to
our
ladies
in
the
office
who
have
worked
under
a
compressed
time
frame
to
make
this
dedication
happen
to
Bernie
Marinovich
and
all
the
Russo
family.
Thank
you
for
being
here
to
my
command
staff,
chief
Gwinnett
chief
pain,
chief
Mason
and
chief
Kaiser,
who
has
assisted
me
with
every
detail
throughout
this
process
and
with
keeping
me
on
task.
C
Thank
you
to
Marc,
Williams
and
arc
our
architect
and
Steve
Hall
the
construction
manager,
thanks
for
guiding
me
through
this
many,
the
many
issues
and
for
getting
us
to
this
point,
and
then
there's
Ed
odd
our
city
engineer
on
the
project
he
had.
He
has
a
vast
wealth
of
knowledge.
He
took
the
time
to
explain
the
process
to
me,
went
through
every
step
with
me
and
along
the
way,
I
think
we
became
great
friends.
So
thank
you
ad.
C
To
the
city,
directors
and
their
staff
for
your
assistance
is
greatly
appreciated
to
Mike
Leonard
for
the
weekly
talks
and
assistance
through
the
process.
Thank
you
very
much
to
the
City
Council
for
your
dedication
to
this
project.
You
recognize
the
need
and
made
the
commitment
to
the
project,
but
finally
to
the
mayor,
if
not
for
your
vision
and
belief
in
the
bloody
fire
department's
mission
and
your
desire
to
provide
the
highest
level
of
service
to
every
citizen
in
Biloxi
I.
Thank
you
to
the
community
served
by
station.
C
10
trust
that
we
are
here
to
serve
you.
Our
assistance
is
just
a
phone
call
away.
The
station
is
dedicated
to
the
memory
of
Anthony
Russo,
who
gave
his
life
serving
the
citizens
of
this
great
city
many
years
ago,
and
just
like
him,
I
can
assure
you
these
firefighters
will
provide
the
same
level
of
professionalism,
compassion
and,
if
need
be,
sacrifice
as
Anthony
did
again.
Thank
you
for
being
here
and
immediately
following
this
dedication.
We
will
be
holding
a
pen
in
ceremony
for
three
of
our
new
captains.
C
A
D
Think
everything's
already
been
said,
everybody's
already
been
think,
but
again
thanks
for
everyone
coming
out
today
and
supporting
this
to
all
those
who
played
a
part
in
making
this
happen.
Our
council,
our
mayor,
the
the
architects,
the
people
who
built
it
and,
of
course,
the
guys
who
are
going
to
work
here.
Thank
you
so
much.
This
is
a
great
asset
to
not
only
our
city,
but
this
area.
A
One
of
the
great
things
about
this
station
is,
regardless
of
which
firefighter
is
assigned
to
come
here.
They
will
be
familiar
with
this
station
and
the
reason
for
that
is
this
station
follows
a
prototype
of
other
stations.
You
look
back
in
your
wonder:
gee
when's,
the
last
time
we
dedicated
to
fire
stations.
It
hadn't
been
that
long
and
the
person
here
to
talk
about
that
is
the
architect
who
designed
this
station
as
well
as
station
two
on
the
east
end
of
town
and
station
nine
out
serve
in
the
Eagle
Point
area.
Please
welcome
Mark
Williams.
E
The
fire
station
design
was
conceived
in
2002
actually
when
we
started
the
wool
market
fire
station,
and
then
we
followed
right
behind
that
this
prototypical
design
with
station
two
on
Oak
Howard,
Howard
and
near
maple
anyway.
That
station
has
been
transformed
to
this
station
same
design.
However,
this
has
been
modified
due
to
several
major
events.
As
you
all
know,
about
this
store
station
is
designed
for
a
higher
wind
load.
It's
a
rock
solid
station
of
the
exterior
walls
are
full
of
concrete
and
rebar.
E
This
is
meant
to
stay
here
during
the
storm
and
to
be
a
shelter
for
first
responders.
During
this
catastrophic
events,
the
city
of
Biloxi
and
the
residents
around
this
area
should
see
a
reduction
in
insurance
rates
because
of
the
station
and
I
know
that
they're
going
to
be
better
protected
by
their
services.
Thank
you.
A
F
Thank
you,
I'm,
a
contractor,
not
a
public
speaker,
so
just
on
behalf
of
JW
Puckett
and
all
the
men
and
women
that
made
this
thing
come
from
four-foot
below
where
we're
standing.
Now
to
what
you
have
now,
we
want
to
thank
each
one
of
you
for
your
service
and
we
hope
we've
provided
you
a
good
product
that
you'll
last
for
a
long
time
and
some
that
your
men
and
women
will
enjoy
for
a
long
time.
We
really
thank
you
for
the
opportunity.
A
The
fire
stations
in
Biloxi
are
designated
by
number
and
we
have
stations
one
through
ten.
Ten
will
be
coming
online
in
the
next
few
weeks,
but
this
station,
of
course,
is
number
ten,
and
it's
also
named
for
a
firefighter
who
lost
his
life
in
the
line
of
duty,
and
this
would
be
mr.
Anthony
Russo
Anthony
Russo
joins
the
ranks
of
Carl
or
and
Edwin
Jacko,
who
also
have
fire
stations
bearing
their
name
to
speak
about
mr.
Russo,
and
the
significance
of
this
day.
I
now
call
forward
a
family
member.
Mr.
Bernie
Marinovich.
G
Good
morning
and
thank
you
for
allowing
me
to
be
here
today
on
behalf
of
my
uncle
Anthony
Bernard
Russo
and
the
Russo
family,
we'd
like
to
express
our
heartfelt
gratitude
to
the
Biloxi
Fire
Department
I
got
a
call
a
couple
of
weeks
ago
from
chief
boney.
He
asked
me
to
meet
him
here
at
station
10
and
make
a
decision
on
a
plaque
I
had
made
with
the
station
bill.
You
wanted
to
make
sure
was
put
in
the
appropriate
place
once
he
was
satisfied.
It
was
placed
in
a
right
position.
G
G
He
proudly
pointed
out
the
many
state-of-the-art
features
of
the
facility,
and
during
that
walkthrough
he
shared
with
me
what
it
means
to
be
a
fireman
chief
boney
explained
to
me,
as
he
did
to
a
recent
group
of
new
firemen.
It
takes
a
very
special
and
unique
person
to
be
a
firefighter
tomarĂa
getting
choked
up.
He
said
it
takes
a
person
who
will
put
themselves
in
harm's
way
and
willingly
risk
their
lives
on
any
given
day
time
without
hesitation.
It
takes
a
person
who
is
fully
committed
that
loves
this
profession.
G
G
Those
you
don't
know
what
happened.
It
was
Central
Station
Biloxi
the
alarm
was
sounding.
There
was
a
fire
called
in.
It
was
a
beautiful
hotel.
Tony
was
was
responding
and
attempted
to
board
the
truck,
but
Tony
lost
his
grip
lost
his
footing
slipped
and
fell
under
the
rear
wheels
of
the
truck
his
body
was
crushed
as
the
truck
left
the
station
mercifully
Tony
never
regained
consciousness
and
passed
away.
The
next
day
that
tragic
accident
made
the
front
page
of
The
Daily
Herald
I.
G
Didn't
get
to
know
Uncle
Tony,
he
was
just
43
years
old
when
he
died,
and
that
was
only
three
but
I.
Think
my
mother,
Octavia
Tony's
sister
would
have
described
him
as
a
quiet,
humble
and
hard-working
man.
I
believe
Tony
myself
would
have
said
he
was
an
ordinary
American
doing
what
he
loved
and
the
work
he
believed
in,
but
I
submit.
Tony
Russo
was
no
ordinary
American.
He
was
a
committed
bloxy,
firefighter
I
know
in
my
heart
that
Tony
embodied
what
it
takes
to
be
a
firefighter
honor,
courage
and
valor.
G
It's
been
a
long
and
lonely
journey,
and
so
many
years
have
passed.
It's
been
68
years,
but
finally,
Tony
today
is
your
day
to
be
recognized
for
your
ultimate
sacrifice.
Inside
this
beautiful
new
fire
station,
a
plaque
has
been
placed
in
your
honor.
It
will
forever
stand
as
long
as
there
are
five
station
number
ten
and
a
blood
sea
Fire
Department.
It
is
my
hope
that
this
memorial
will
ensure
that
your
legacy
will
live
on
through
the
many
generation
of
Block
C
firefighters
to
come,
Anthony,
Bernard
Russo.
G
We
never
knew
you,
but
now
Biloxi
will
never
forget.
You
Thank
You,
mayor,
fuller,
Gillick,
fire
chief
boney
for
your
leadership
and
unworthy
Unsworth,
unwavering
support,
City
Council
members,
tube
Lexie
fire
department
and
the
quiet
efforts
of
many
others.
I'd
also
like
to
thank
Kat
Bergeron
for
the
story.
She
wrote
in
the
Sun
Herald
about
Tony
Russo,
the
forgotten
firefighter.
Thank
you
all
and
God
bless
the
Black
Sea
Fire
Department.
C
And
now
we'll
do
the
thank
you
Thank
You
Bernie.
That
was
awesome
and
now
we'll
do
the
pin
in
ceremony
real
quick.
So
if
I
could
get
my
three
new
captain's
to
step
up
here
with
their
families,
please
first
we'll
we'll
go
with
Brian
Deese
Brian
Deese
has
been
a
firefighter
with
the
Biloxi
Fire
Department
for
many
years.
C
He's
worked
very
hard
to
get
to
this
point
and
we're
very
proud
of
him,
and
he
is
here
with
his
wife
and
his
daughter
and
his
son
where-where's
where's,
the
boss,
where's
the
little
oh
okay,
the
little
guy
you
saw
running
around
here
with
the
Biloxi
Fire
Department
shirt
on.
That's
that's
Brian's
son,
so
Brian's
wife
will
pin
him
with
the
with
his
gold
badge
and.
C
C
C
You
might
know
his
his
uncle
Jerry
do
Bosson,
who
just
retired
he
was
the
chief
in
diamondhead.
So
Nick
is
Nick,
is
one
of
our
four
paramedics
in
the
fire
department
and
Nick
works
very
hard
with
our
training
division
to
make
sure
that
that
we
have
proper
training
in
EMS
and
he
works
very
hard.
He's
a
he's,
a
great
asset
to
the
Biloxi
Fire
Department.
C
C
Charles
is
another
one
that
has
shown
his
commitment
and
dedication
to
the
fire
department.
His
wife
will
be
pinning
him.
Charles
was
a
before
he
was
promoted
to
captain.
He
was
a
integral
part
of
our
marine
division.
He
he
worked
on
the
on
the
fire
boat
and
it's
a
great
we're.
Gonna
lose
that's
gonna,
be
a
great
asset.
We're
gonna
lose
because
he's
going
to
be
having
his
own
station
now
at
work.
So.
C
A
H
Let's
pray
father,
we
thank
you
for
today.
We
thank
you
for
the
great
things
that
you
have
allowed
us
to
accomplish
god.
We
thank
you
for
this
place.
Now
that
we
call
station
10
god
we
ask
that
you
would
just
bless
this
station
as
it
be
one
that
can
serve
those
citizens
and
the
visitors
of
Biloxi.
That's
in
this
area,
God.
H
We
ask
that
you
bless
every
firefighter
that
work
out
of
this
station
that
every
time
they
leave
they
can
leave
with
confidence
and
know
that
they
have
courage
and
be
very
courageous
as
they
serve
the
city
of
Biloxi,
then
God
as
they
return
to
this
station.
Let
this
be
a
place
of
refuge
for
them
where
they
can
come
back
and
be
feel
better,
so
they'll
be
able
to
go
back
out
and
serve
again
god.
We
just
love
you
for
all
that
you
have
done.
We
thank
you
for
the
administration
that
allows
this
to
happen.
God.
