our

It's
a
snapshot
of
the
present
and
it's
a
roadmap.
How
we
got
here
where
we
can
go
since
opening.
Six
months
ago,
more
than
16,000
people
have
come
through
these
doors,
along
with
our
neighbors
and
throughout
the
south.
We
welcome
people
from
Canada
the
Netherlands
Germany
Great
Britain,
France,
China
and
Central
America,
just
to
name
a
few
along
with
the
rest
of
the
people
around
the
United
States.
These
visitors
see
multimedia
exhibits.

tell
the
story
of
our
city,
our
people
and
our
colorful
history
and
promising
future.
Mr.
stop
visitors
enjoying
this
beautiful
facility,
visitor
center,
has
already
hosted
dozens
of
special
events
like
business
meetings
in
convention
groups
and
motored
recruits
move
even
had
several
weddings
and
a
baby
shop.

Center
is
doing
just
what
we
wanted
to
do
introducing
people
to
blocks
in
the
Mississippi
Gulf
Coast
next
month.
The
visitor
center
will
play
a
key
role
telling
our
story.
The
rest
of
the
nation,
Mississippi
Public
Broadcasting,
is
hosting
the
cast
of
the
national
radio
show.
What
do
you
know
and
then
they'll
broadcast
their
show,
live
from
the
Sangha
they're
telling
Miggins
about
all
of
the
things
they
learned
about
flux
and
the
Gulf
Coast,
and
if
you'll
remember
the
same
day
were
dedicated
that
visitor
center.

all
drove
over
to
Howard
Avenue
to
cut
the
ribbon
on
a
new
public
library
and
civics.
Most
cities
would
call
it
a
day
after
that
dedicated
a
13
million
dollar
visitor
center.
But
not
us.
We
open
a
20
million
dollar
library
in
civic
center
that
have
set
a
new
level
for
municipal
buildings.
We've
provided
a
first
class
setting
of
dozens
of
special
events,
banquets
business
meetings,
weddings
and
other
special
occasions
for
Carnival
Cruise
have
already
said
it's
going
to
be
their
new
home
and
we
see
even
more
coming
our
way.

An
open
library,
we're
providing
a
user-friendly,
state-of-the-art
environment
will
visit
it
and
read
a
book
go
online
or
step
into
history
in
the
local
history
archives.
We
ought
to
have
dozens
of
special
events
on
the
books
for
the
Civic
Center
and
visitor
center.
We've
hired
one
person
to
be
in
charge
of
booking
both
the
locations
to
make
it
easy
for
meeting
and
event
planners

be
open

new

in

Biloxi
in
April,
macarons
plans
have
opened
the
new
harbour
house,
restaurant
in
March,
JJ
perich
wants
to
unveil
his
27,000
feet,
retail
and
Shaw
kids
and
march
nine
at
Point
cadet.
The
blocks
of
boardwalk
marina
is
open,
you'll
find
wet
and
dry
lips
to
accommodate
four
hundred
vessels.
Things
are
really
going
to
move
down.
There's
a
ship
store,
a
fuel
dock
and
a
new
restaurant
is
under
construction
with
volleyball
courts
and
more
on
the
way.

boat
will
have
this
bridge
finished
in
a
year.

course,
the
blocks
of
boardwalk
is
just
around
the
corner
from
Jimmy
Buffett's
Margaritaville
and
may
parrot
heads

around

This

million
dollar
development
is
the
first
new
casino
to
open
since
Katrina.

is
happening
on
our
forward
in

You
heard
about
the

building
one
right
now

promenade
will
be

solid

to
be
on
11
foot
wide,
concrete
water
sidewalk
that
will
run
1400
feet
from
the
small
bridge
of
the
causeway
to
stored
boat
ramps.

beauty

a
salt
marsh
we're
spending
close
to
five
million
dollars
in
federal
funds
to
make
repairs
to
the
lighthouse
fishing
dock
on
back
bay
and
at
the
commercial
Harbor
south
of
the
Hard
Rock
will
install
it
new
bulkheads
utilities,
fierce
panda
lighting
before
Katrina
Luxor
was
one
of
a
small
fraternity
of
cities
that
was
home
to
a
Presidential.
Library
will
have
that
distinction
again.
This
summer
doughboy
reopens
the
Jefferson
Davis
Presidential
Library
in
the
million
dollar
facility,
dedicated
to
the
study
of
the
Civil
War
era.

summer,
the
oral
Keef
Museum
of
Art
will
open
the
largest
building
on
his
campus
city
of
Biloxi
center
for
ceramics.
This
is
a

building
on
the
west
side
of
the
site.

will
offer
pottery
classes
for
all
ages,
more
exhibit
space
and
space
for
meetings,
including
a
glass
room
at
the
top
of
the
floor
story.

light
to
move
forward
with
plans

industry
museum.

also
received
the

to
move
forward
with
the
new
Public
Works
facility,

will
be
on
the
site
near
the
current

on

work

we'll

doing
underground.
This
year
we
began
construction
on
355
million
dollars
worth
of
infrastructure
work
throughout
the
city.

several
months
now,
crews
have
been
working
on
water,
sewer
and
drainage
out
in
the
sun
kissed
an
ancient
oaks
area
over
the
next
several
months
and
years,
you'll
see
the
work
roll
out
on
the
14
major
project
areas
in
the
30
sub
places
we're
talking
about
100
miles
of
street,
more
than
a
million
feet
of
water
sewer
and
storm
drain
lines,
and
more
than
70
waste
water
pump
stations.

every
street
sidewalk
curb
and
gutter
that
went
underwater
will
be
replaced.

crews

take
it

down

the
tip
of
Point
cadet,
where
it
will
meet
with
Myrtle
Street
and
the

Bridge.

blocks
at
VA
Medical
Center
unveiled
more
than
150
million
dollars
worth
of
improvements,
including
a
hundred
thousand
square
foot
mental
health
center,
105
thousand
square
foot.
Addition
to
the
extended
care
facility
in
1000
car
parking,
garage,
primary
and
specialty
clinics
and
outpatient
surgery
facilities
on
top
of
that
there's
another
hundred
and
fifty
million
dollars
in
improvements
in
the
works
at
the
vehicle.
While
all
of
these
things
have
been
going
on,
our
day-to-day
work
has
produced
a
share
of
achievements
and
success.
We
tighten
the
belts
and
cut
expenses.
We
made
tough
decisions.

Our
management
also
caught
the
attention
of
Wall
Street
financial
analyst.
As
a
result
of
how
we
manage
your
money,
we
received
a
lowest
interest
rate
that
I
think
this
city
has
ever
seen
at
one
point:
nine
percent
interest
rate
on
nine
million
dollars
of
outstanding
debt.
That's
saving
us
seven
hundred
thousand
dollars
in
interest
in
eville
factors
like
an
improvement
economy,
the
proactive
police
work
and
educating
the
public
led
to
a
nineteen
percent
decrease
in
property
crimes.
That's
a
huge
drop
in
burglars
I'm
Police
Department
responded
to
more
than
66,000
calls
for
service.
A
That
means
we're
responding
on
an
average.
Nearly
200
calls
for
service
a
day
in
the
fire
department.
We
saw
another
record-breaking
year
for
emergency
medical
costs.
Overall,
we
responded
to
almost
70
200
calls
for
service
in
the
fire
department
and
well
over
5,000
of
those
were
medical
emergencies.
That's
more
than
responded
to
last
year,
more
than
a
year
before
that,
it's
the
most
ever
and
it's
a
number
that's
rising.
Every
year,
our
fire
department
also
reached
about
12,000
people
to
public
education
programs
such
as
extinguish
your
classes
for
business,
high
school
students
and
teachers.
A
We
install
more
than
350
smoke
detectors
and
we
even
conducted
a
fire
academy
for
kids.
It
was
a
one-week
camp.
They
gave
children
14
lessons
on
seatbelt
safety,
water
safety,
basic
first
aid
and
life
safety
techniques,
looks
at
police
reached
out
to
you
too,
through
the
Explorer
program
and
school
programs
like
there
and
great
to
steer
our
young
people
away
from
drugs
gangs
and
crime
reaching
out
to
young
folks,
along
with
old
folks
and
baby
boomers,
is
a
specialty
of
our
Parks
and
Recreation
Department.

Last
year,
our
sports
leagues
summer,
camp
senior
dances
and
other
school
dances
all
combined
to
engage
thousands
of
people
from
Toddlers
to
senior
citizens.
Let's
not
forget
our
partnership
looks
at
other
schools
to
help
us
become
a
certified
accel
x,

city.
This
means
that
Leslie
provides
the
resources
to
our
parents,
prepare
the
infants
and
preschool
children
for
their
first
day
of
class.
But
another
area
that
I'm
especially
proud
of
is
a
holistic
approach.
We
take
the
recreation,
we're
all
inclusive.
A
Luckily,
the
first
and
only
city
in
South
Mississippi
that
has
been
offering
Little
League
challenge
baseball
team
of
those
with
physical
or
mental
challenges.
We
grew
from
20
players
in
2010
to
40
players.
Last
year
we
had
400
students
attend
an
art
disability
workshop
with
special
education
classes,
and
we
saw
the
harbored
a
disability,
walk
and
run
attract
150
participants
in
2011,
a
one
hundred
percent
increase
from
2010
living
on
a
peninsula.
As
we
do.
A
We
continue
to
appreciate
the
lessons
of
the
fast
emergency
management
division,
install
a
citywide
network
of
silent
hours
to
signal
residents
about
attending
danger,
such
as
tornadoes
we're
also
spending
over
a
million
dollars
in
federal
money.
The
retrofit
free
of
a
fire
stations
with
wind
resistant
troops.
Our
efforts
to
regulate
construction
in
flood
zones
is
expected
to
provide
another
five
percent
drop
in
flood
insurance
rates
of
the
sheer
meaning
flux
at
residents
will
see
a
total
of
twenty-five
percent
decrease
because
of
our
efforts
working
with
Back
Bay
mission.

public
works
department
has
completed
20
in-house
street
and
drainage
projects
and,
at
the
same
time,
the
department
is
overseeing
the
construction
plans
and
engineering
for
dozens
of
FEMA
related
projects
and
will
market
we're
installing
sewer
lines
on
landing
court.
Scenic,
River,
Forest,
Circle,
river
state
circle,
Parker's,
Creek,
Road,
north
oakland,
road,
thomas
road,
the
road
and
a
segment
of
wool
market
hope
this
2.9
million
dollar
project
is
expected
to
be
completed.
This
fall
this
year.
The
new
17
million
dollar
treatment
facility
in
will
Morgan,
will
come
online
by
this
time
next
year.
