Commissioner shelby ford welcome to the commission ms4. We have president katz and president.

Jim shelton from the chamber and president today we have from the council becky bustani.

And I'm president, of course,.

Have has shelby been introduced to the commissioners, yet.

Yeah, we we said, welcome to her but you're more than welcome to.

Welcome her as well all right! Well, I just wanted to say welcome to the commission.

Back, I'm sorry shelby. Welcome to the commission. We look forward to working with you. um We have.

A lot of work to do and we're all excited and we're excited to have a new commission member.

A

And welcome to the commission. Thank you for joining this fight.

Yes, thank you for that. I'm excited to see where all we can lead.

A

um I just want to say in the future coming up, there will be.

A

An item that has to do with the serial rapes that have been occurring on iu's campus.

A

And that will most likely be forward to the crisis, intervention and policing commission.

A

And another item that will be forwarded to that commission or that subcommittee will.

A

Be the incidents that have occurred near schlum center and on walnut street in college and in.

A

The area that has to do with the business of stim line, because there have been a lot of incidents.

A

Dealing with the unhoused um and crimes in that area, in those habitats like with those houses and.

A

Those businesses and um there have been a lot of incidents with the residents of those houses and.

A

Those business owners and also the unhoused, have gotten hurt and have had incidences of violence.

A

Upon them, so that's something that um I feel that the commission needs to look into.

A

um What do you, commissioners think about any of the either of those two subjects.

Well, I can't see yeah no, because that who has their hand raised or not. So I can't.

So can somebody uh be the person that will call on people for me.

Thank you, um so I definitely think most definitely that that issue needs to be looking.

Looked into on both ends uh definitely for the um residents of bloomington to make it feel.

Safe and also for the unhoused, so I definitely agree that that issue needs to be looked into.

Commissioner, rousseau yeah. I just wanted to echo that I also view um the second issue as a problem.

Particularly as having been a business owner in that area in the last two years, I actually just.

E

um Ended my business that was there partially for this reason.

So I can also echo those sentiments that there is a public safety.

Issue in that area, both for the housed members of our community and for the unhoused.

Thank you, commissioner, outside and I don't have any information or any knowledge of the.

Rapes on campus, but thank you for taking the lead in gathering information for us to learn more about that issue. Thank.

You, commissioner, ford um yeah I'd like to echo as well. I think that going into.

The dangers that are posed both to the unhoused and the house community in that.

B

Area will be important and then the rapes on campus are becoming a growing issue.

B

That I know a lot of college students are becoming very concerned about, but I think that issue.

B

When it comes to public safety is going to be important to address. Thank you, commissioner. Ford.

um Do any of you have any issues that you would like to bring forward to the commission.

A

um Well, um the four of us that are here right now.

A

And I can't tell if anybody has their hand raised. Oh sorry, I didn't raise my hand. Oh that's fine.

I could mention um I was planning to mention it. I have a small statement to read before we.

E

Discuss the resolution and in that I was going to briefly mention that during the research.

E

While doing research for this resolution on islamophobia, it was, um it was suggest.

E

It was told to me that um there are also public safety threats in our community.

E

For members of the jewish faith and anti-semitism also exists and is a problem in our community.

E

And I agree with that and and I'm going to suggest, um I'm going to suggest it in in another meeting.

E

In the full december meeting the official meeting in december.

E

That we vote on possibly writing a resolution similar to this one for that, for that purpose,.

E

Which is a very different, obviously a very different problem deserving of its own.

E

Resolution and research, but I wanted to bring that up, that. I agree that that that is a problem in our.

E

Community, if any any members of any faith feel unsafe because of their religion, yes,.

um If there's there's looking at the agenda and there's really not much else, we can.

C

um Really do without without a quorum, um so you know, commissioner,.

C

Brown sparks, if you are, if you would like to um adjourn the meeting, that's up to you.

I am willing to join the meeting until our next meeting in november, where there'll.

Be more, I mean on december 9th, where there'll be more people here. Hopefully.
