Description
A local group of women with physical disabilities (aka “the Wheelie Women”) have started a “Mobility Aids Lending Library” (MALL) to serve the greater Bloomington community. Watch these videos to see how it works for those who want to donate and those in need of a mobility aid.
A
My
name's
Coleman
and
I
am
a
wife
and
mom
I
have
two
children
and
when
my
second
daughter
was
about
to
be
born,
I
had
been
living
with
multiple
sclerosis
for
about
11
years
and
at
that
point,
I
was
ambulating
independently,
but
I
was
using
trekking
poles
stabilize
to
me.
They
were
kind
of
sporty,
and
my
physical
therapist
was
really
wanting
me
to
transition
to
something
a
little
more
safe,
like
a
Rollator
and
being
pregnant
and
having
a
baby.
A
She
didn't
want
me
to
trip
and
fall,
but
I
was
really
resistant
to
the
idea
because
it
felt
like
I
was
moving
to
more
of
a
medical
device
and
the
city
I
was
living
in
at
the
time
had
a
similar
service
and
she
said:
we've
got
this
storage
closet.
You
can
just
borrow
a
Rollator,
see
if
you
like
it,
keep
it
if
you
like
it,
and
so
that
felt
safe
and
easy
and
I
was
in
the
hospital
having
just
delivered.
A
My
youngest
daughter
and
my
dad
went
and
picked
up
the
Rollator
and
brought
it
to
the
hospital
room
and
it
ended
up
being
a
huge
help
because
it
had
a
seat
on
it,
and
my
girls
would
sit
on
it
and
I
push
them
and
it
would
be
like
I
was
carrying
them
and
they
started
to
call
it
Mama's
wheels.
And
if
I
hadn't
have
had
that
easy
access
to
the
equipment,
I
don't
think
I
would
have
made
the
transition
as
quickly
and
safely.
