A
B
Welcome
to
Bloomington
today,
I'm
Laurie
Schulte
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
buzz
for
the
week
of
September
23rd
through
the
29th
after
weeks
of
prep
work,
construction
is
well
underway
at
the
old
cedar
avenue
bridge
you
can
see
here,
a
temporary
bridge
is
being
built
alongside
the
historical
one.
It
allows
crews
to
get
their
equipment
near
the
bridge
and
over
the
water.
It's
about
halfway
across
the
lake
now,
and
both
cranes
are
on
the
temporary
access
fan.
B
The
deck
on
the
old
cedar,
avenue
bridge
is
being
removed
and
should
be
completely
gone
by
the
end
of
the
month.
On
the
first
two
spans,
when
our
cameras
were
there,
piles
are
being
drilled
into
the
ground
for
the
shoring
foundation,
a
structure
that
will
support
the
old
bridge
after
the
deck
is
removed.
Part
of
the
bridge
will
be
lifted,
so
crews
can
work
underneath
it.
That's
where
most
of
the
damages,
thanks
to
years
of
salt,
erodes
corroding
it.
B
The
bridge
is
set
to
open
in
November
2016,
but
depending
on
delays
may
not
open
until
the
spring
of
2017
city
staff
and
the
business
community
got
together
for
a
first-time
event.
At
City
Hall
business
day
allowed
Chamber
members
and
city
staff
to
connect
and
build
relationships.
There
were
several
booths
set
up,
highlighting
services,
products
and
opportunities
offered
around
bloomington.
There
are
also
two
main
group
sessions.
The
first
one
highlighted
key
findings
from
the
city's
National
Business
Survey
during
the
second
one,
a
panel
discussed
what
an
employee
and
customer
of
the
future
would
look
like.
B
C
D
B
We
will
hear
more
about
this
event
and
those
business
survey
results
in
next
week's
show
so
make
sure
to
tune
back
in
for
that,
while
Civic
Plaza
and
its
services
were
on
display.
For
that
event,
coming
up,
another
city
facility
will
host
visitors
and
share
information.
The
Creekside
community
center,
open
house
and
safety
Fun
Fest
is
coming
up
on
october.
Third,
it
will
run
from
10
to
1.
Residents
can
learn
about
the
programming
at
Creekside,
including
the
several
dozen
clubs
and
classes
for
people
50
and
older
I.
Don't.
E
Think
people
realize,
especially
for
adults,
50,
plus
the
huge
wide
array
of
programs
that
we
have
available
not
only
here,
but
we
also
have
a
flower
club
that
works
out
at
Normandale
lake,
as
well
as
our
walking
club
that
meets
at
several
different
sites
twice
a
week
throughout
Bloomington.
Our
programs
are
unique
that
they're
all
led
by
older
adult
volunteer,
so
you've
really
got
people
in
charge
of
it
that
really
enjoy
it
and
are
interested
and
are
very
welcoming
to
new
members
and
really
want
to
expand
their
programs.
The.
B
Police
and
fire
departments
will
also
be
there.
The
police
department
will
have
a
squad
car,
k9
and
SWAT
team
at
the
event,
they'll
also
share
tips
on
what
to
expect.
If
you're
pulled
over
the
fire
department
will
have
a
truck
on
display
and
we'll
talk
about
safety
topics
like
carbon
monoxide
poisoning
heating,
your
home
in
the
winter
and
smoke
detectors.
This.

You
want
to
hear
more
from
this
interview,
keep
an
eye
out
on
this
channel
for
a
long-form
segment
set
to
air
in
the
coming
weeks,
looking
to
get
rid
of
old
documents,
there's
a
free
shred
event
coming
up,
Saturday
October
third
head
over
to
the
public
works
building
for
free
shred
day.
The
event
is
put
on
by
human
services
in
partnership
with
the
US
Federal
Credit
Union.
It
will
take
place
in
the
North
East
parking
area
and
each
person
can
bring
up
to
two
paper
boxes.
B
The
public
works
building
is
located
at
1700
West
Side
da
Street.
That
is
the
buzz
on
Bloomington
today
for
the
week
of
September
23rd
through
the
29th.
If
you
would
like
to
watch
other
stories
from
the
show
go
to
this
week's
playlist,
there
you'll
find
a
couple
pieces
highlighting
two
longtime
employees.
You'll
also
find
a
story
on
the
street
sweepers
headed
for
a
neighborhood
near
you
check
them
out,
and
thanks
for
watching.
