A
B
Welcome
to
Bloomington
today,
I'm
Laurie
Schulte,
thanks
for
joining
us,
for
this
week's
buzz
we're
heading
out
around
the
city
to
show
you
what's
going
on
and
we're
starting
off
in
front
of
this
big
wall
of
buckthorn.
You
can
spot
this
invasive
plant
by
looking
at
the
dark,
green
leaves
and
berries
on
it.
Now
this
shrub
kills
off
native
plants
in
Minnesota,
and
that's
why
the
city
Raleigh
volunteers,
to
get
rid
of
it.
Buckthorn.
C
B
Just
one
of
several
volunteers
who
helped
remove
the
invasive
plant
at
pond
Dakota
mission
park,
buckthorn,
was
originally
brought
over
from
Europe
and
spread
all
the
way
here
to
Bloomington.
This
hearty
shrub
kills
native
plants
by
stealing
their
sunlight
and
soil.
Buckthorn
is
usually
one
of
the
first
plants
to
bloom
in
the
spring
and
the
last
plant
to
drop
its
leaves
in
the
fall.
The
plant
spreads
when
birds
eat
the
berries
and
scatter
them
throughout
the
city.
B
C
B
Community,
you
also
have
to
protect
yourself.
That's
why
we're
here
at
Civic
Plaza,
where
an
upcoming
flu
shot
clinic
will
be.
It
will
be
on
October
28
from
eight
to
four
in
the
rehearsal
hall
at
Civic
Plaza.
There
will
also
be
a
community
flu
shot
clinic
on
the
29th
at
Oak
Grove
middle
school,
from
four
to
six
pm.
B
If
neither
of
those
times
work,
you
can
head
to
creekside
on
december
ninth
from
1045
to
1215
for
the
final
community
clinic,
but
you
can
always
swing
into
the
public
health
center
to
get
your
shot
for
days
and
times
of
the
immunization
clinics
head
to
the
city's
website.
Flu
shots
are
for
people
six
months
and
older
you're
encouraged
to
wear
a
short

shirt
and

If
you're
under
18,
a
guardian
must
be
present
after
the
clinic
swing
into
the
atrium
outside
the
cow
chambers.
B
You'll
find
an
exhibit
there
with
pictures
like

stories
of
