A
B
Welcome
to
Bloomington
today,
I'm
Laurie
Schulte,
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
buzz
for
the
week
of
August
nineteenth
through
the
25th.
More
housing
is
coming
to
the
south
loop
with
a
new
apartment.
Building
the
Indigo
apartment
project
celebrated
the
start
of
construction.
With
the
groundbreaking
ceremony,
the
site
will
have
almost
400
units
and
will
open
in
phases
starting
next
fall.
The
name
indigo
reflects
the
location
of
the
apartments
in
its
proximity
to
public
transportation.
It
sits
at
thirty,
fourth
Avenue
and
american
boulevard.
You.
B
A
Area
has
really
been
jump-started,
and
this
is
one
of
the
major
parts
of
what's
going
to
happen
here.
This
residential
will
really
spur
the
area,
get
it
invigorated
and
really
lead.
We
hope
to
some
more
residential
development
going
on.
You
know,
there's
talk
of
a
second
phase,
assuming
this
one
works
out
and
does
well
on
top.
B
Of
housing,
the
building
will
have
other
amenities,
including
spas
fitness
center
dog
walking
area
and
Zen
garden.
Human
Services
offers
many
programs
for
people
50-plus,
but
it
couldn't
do
it
without
help.
68
volunteer
leaders
head
up
the
60
different
programs
and
city
staff
organized
a
party
to
say
thanks.
The
23rd
annual
picnic
was
at
moorpark
folks
got
a
chance
to
enjoy
food
and
friends,
a
nice
break
from
their
hard
work
to
plan,
develop
and
implement
activities.
B
The
50
plus
program
has
a
wide
variety
of
things:
to
offer
to
learn
more
about
how
to
get
involved,
visit
the
city's
website
and
search
50-plus.
The
next
time
you
get
a
flat
tire
while
biking
in
Bloomington,
you
may
be
in
luck
to
bike.
Repair
stations
were
installed
at
City
Hall
and
Dred
Scott
play
field
near
the
Highland
trail.
The
city
received
a
grant
from
pedal,
MN
and
health
partners
for
the
project.
Those
groups
paid
for
the
stations
and
the
city
poured
the
concrete
for
the
pad
at
both
sites.
B
You'll
find
an
air
pump
and
assorted
tools
to
fix
bike
troubles
you
might
run
into
while
on
the
road
there's
also
a
stand
that
raises
your
bike,
so
it's
easier
to
work
on
the
stations
were
recently
installed
and
Parks
and
Recreation
staff
hope
more
grant.
Money
will
be
secured
to
install
more
sites
around
the
city.
These
repair
stations
align
with
the
city's
continuing
effort
to
make
Bloomington
more
bikable
and
encourage
alternative
transportation.
B
Bloomington
may
be
a
suburb
of
the
Metro,
but
urban
living
is
on
display
at
City
Hall.
These
acrylic
paintings
by
artist
Terry
block,
are
part
of
the
newest
exhibit
in
the
atrium
gallery.
This
show
is
called
between
noticing
and
knowing,
and
it's
meant
to
highlight
how
people
interact
with
each
other
in
their
environment.
B
The
urban
images
capture
more
than
just
people
in
streets,
but
focus
on
posture
gestures
and
relationships
block
says
these
simple
scenes
are
not
meant
to
offer
a
clear
narrative
but
allow
on
lockerz
to
explore
the
pieces
for
themselves
between
noticing
and
knowing
runs
through
September
27th
on
the
second
floor
of
City
Hall.
That
is
the
buzz
on
Bloomington
today,
for
the
week
of
August.
B
Nineteenth
through
the
25th,
if
you
would
like
to
watch
other
stories
from
the
show
go
to
this
week's
playlist,
there
you'll
find
a
piece
about
a
family
who
had
a
close
call
with
a
coyote
attacking
their
dog.
It's
something
police
are
warning
about.
There's
also
a
story
about
this
year's
national
night
out
check
them
out
and
thanks
for
watching.
