A
B
Welcome
to
Bloomington
today
I'm
Laurie
Schulte
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
buds
for
the
week
of
November
11th
through
the
17th
and
we're
starting
off
here
at
France,
an
old
shakopee
road,
because
you
can
see
the
area's
newest
development
is
really
starting
to
take
shape.
The
park
place
on
France
project
was
originally
approved
in
2007,
but
has
undergone
some
changes.
Since
the
original
design,
there
will
be
a
total
of
four
restaurants
in
winter
of
2016.
Willie
McCoy's
will
open.
It
will
be
the
first
place
with
rooftop
seating
in
the
city.
B
The
other
restaurants
include
rita's
italian
ice,
pi,
5
and
sub
sandwich.
Those
opening
dates
are
unknown
at
this
time.
Other
tenants
include
sports
clip,
Salon,
opening
this
December
and
a
dental
office
which
has
no
opening
date
set.
While
this
area
is
seen,
some
changes,
so
is
the
Mall
of
America.
As
you
can
see
behind
me
that
JW
Marriott
is
almost
complete.
The
hotel
opens
on
November
23rd
and
will
start
accepting
reservations
on
January.
First,
this
luxury
hotel
will
offer
342
rooms
with
18,000
square
feet
of
meeting
space
for
weddings,
corporate
gatherings
and
other
social
celebrations.
B
There
will
also
be
a
restaurant
inside
offering
eats
inspired
by
Minnesota's
natural
roots
and
local
culture,
while
hotel
development
is
ongoing
here
in
the
south
loop.
It's
not
the
only
noteworthy
addition
here.
There
are
several
places
in
this
area
where
you'll
find
public
art,
like
this
sculpture
behind
me,
it's
part
of
the
creative
placemaking
initiative,
an
effort
that
will
soon
have
an
advisory
commission
behind
it.
The
City
Council
recently
approved
a
creative
placemaking
Commission
that
will
work
with
city
staff
to
keep
the
momentum
going.
B
This
mural
near
the
Wildlife
Refuge,
the
roundabout
sculpture
in
this
little
box
sauna
were
all
part
of
creative
placemaking
and
took
place
this
year.
The
Commission
will
advise
the
council
in
the
use
of
art,
design,
culture
and
creativity
to
accomplish
city
goals.
There
will
be
nine
members,
six
will
be
appointed
by
the
council
and
three
will
be
chosen
by
the
artistry
board.
At
least
five
members
need
to
be
Bloomington
voters
and
residents.
Each
member
will
serve
three-year
terms
with
a
limit
of
six
consecutive
years
of
service.
B
You
can
submit
an
application
this
month
and
next
council
selection
will
take
place
in
February
or
March
of
next
year
when
a
creative
placemaking
director
is
hired
over
here
at
the
bloomington
icegarden.
The
citywide
Halloween
party
was
a
big
hit.
It
was
the
first
time
it
was
hosted
here
and
it
turned
out
great
about
1,000
people
flocked
too
big
for
this
family
friendly
event.
60-City
volunteers
made
it
possible,
along
with
20
optimist,
club
volunteers.
There
were
games
at
trick
or
treat
ali
balloon,
twisters
coloring
contest
and
open
skating
with
free
skate.
Rentals.
B
Finally,
here
at
creekside
veterans
have
been
honored
with
things
like
a
photo
wall,
a
movie
showing
in
several
events
the
final
one
is
later
this
month
and
it
revolves
around
the
battle
of
the
bulge
on
November
20th.
You
can
swing
into
Creekside
to
hear
from
dan
Hartman
a
military
historian.
He
will
talk
about
the
Battle
of
the
Bulge.
When
the
German
army
launched
a
counter-offensive
attack,
trying
to
turn
the
tide
of
the
war
and
Hitler's
favor,
you
can
revisit
one
of
the
greatest
battles
of
World
War
two
at
ten
am
on
November
20th.
B
That
is
the
buzz
on
Bloomington
today
for
the
week
of
November
11
through
the
17th.
If
you
would
like
to
watch
other
stories
from
the
show
go
to
this
week's
playlist,
there
you'll
find
a
story
on
a
world
war.
Two
and
Vietnam
veteran.
They
hang
out
at
Creekside,
often
and
share
their
stories
check
that
out
and
thanks
for
watching.
