Description
What’s buzzin’ in Bloomington? New bike racks will be installed at eight Bloomington parks and places. October is carpool to work month. Plus, there’s a new art exhibit at City Hall.
A
B
Welcome
to
Bloomington
today,
I'm
Laurie
Schulte,
thanks
for
joining
us
for
this
week's
buds,
we're
heading
out
around
the
city
to
show
you
what's
going
on,
come
on.
First,
stop
the
Public
Works
garage
where
you
can
see
these
bike
racks
are
waiting
to
be
installed
at
parks
and
places
around
the
city
and
to
hear
more
about
how
we
acquired
these
I
have
Randy
quality
with
Parks
and
Rec
Randy.
How
did
we
go
about
getting
these
well.
C
We
were
very
fortunate
that
we
received
funding
through
the
state
health
improvement
program,
grant
to
fund
the
acquisition
and
the
installation
of
these
bike
racks
we're
going
to
be
placing
them
at
a
number
of
Park
throughout
the
community.
Looking
at
different
locations,
not
only
replacing
existing
wrecks
that
have
met
their
life
expectancy
and
are
falling
apart
and
then
also
putting
a
minute
new
locations
to
better
serve
the
people
that
bike
to
our
parks.
Definitely.
C
What,
if
you
want
a
bike
and
get
fit
and
be
active,
you
know
you
want
to
make
it
so
it's
safe
and
convenient,
and
if
you're
biking
somewhere
and
you
don't
have
a
safe
place
to
lock
up
your
bike,
you're
going
to
be
less
likely
to
bike.
So
by
having
accessible
and
plentiful
bike
racks
in
our
parks,
we're
finding
more
and
more
people
will
bike
and
therefore
become
more
active
and.
C
Where
we
just
got
these
delivered,
we
have
to
go
forward
and
put
in
concrete
footings
and
also
pads
for
a
lot
of
these
bike
racks.
So
that's
going
to
happen.
This
fall.
The
actual
bike
racks,
probably
won't
be
going
in
until
next
spring,
but
when
you're
ready
to
start
biking
again
next
May
or
so
we'll
have
them
waiting
for
you
all.
B
Right,
thank
you
so
much
Randy
and
while
biking
is
a
great
way
to
be
green,
it's
not
the
only
way
you
can
see.
Freeways
like
this
are
packed
every
morning
and
every
night,
but
you
can
cut
down
on
traffic
and
your
carbon
footprint
by
carpooling
and
there's
no
better
time
to
start
than
this
month.
October
is
carpool
to
work
month.
The
I
494
corridor
Commission
is
encouraging
people
to
share
at
least
one
ride
this
month.
B
If
you
do
you're
eligible
for
a
five-hundred-dollar
gas
gift
card
to
enter
the
competition
head
to
494
corridor
org
back
here
at
City,
Hall
blood
drives
have
been
taking
place
each
month.
It
gives
employees
and
residents
a
chance
to
give
back,
and
you
can
take
part.
The
drive
will
take
place
on
October
19th
from
830
in
the
morning
to
230
in
the
afternoon.
It
only
takes
about
an
hour.
People
are
encouraged
to
sign
up
beforehand,
but
walk-ins
are
welcome.
B
Your
donation
will
help
save
up
to
three
lives
before
coming,
make
sure
to
drink
an
extra
16
ounces
of
water
and
get
a
good
night's
sleep.
You'll
also
want
to
bring
your
donor
card
driver's
license
or
to
other
forms
of
ID
if
you're
at
City
Hall
for
the
blood
drive
swing
up
to
the
atrium
gallery,
where
you'll
see
these
colorful
pieces
on
display
artist,
Brenda
Lippmann
was
inspired
by
Japanese
and
Chinese
calligraphy
for
this
series
of
paintings.
B
It's
called
an
ode
to
nature,
gesture
and
mark
they
reference
nature
and
our
journey
through
life,
littman
uses
repeated
marks
and
symbols
to
tell
the
story.
A
circular
form
represents
the
Sun
and
its
warmth
and
blue
strokes
symbolize
the
ocean.
You
might
also
find
parts
that
represent
opportunity
and
hope
these
abstract
pieces
will
be
on
display
until
November
3rd.
That
is
the
buzz
on
Bloomington
today
for
the
week
of
october,
fourteenth
through
the
20th.
B
If
you
would
like
to
watch
other
stories
from
the
show
go
to
this
week's
playlist,
there
you'll
find
a
story
taking
you
inside
the
water
treatment
plant
that
houses
the
state's
best
drinking
water
and
you're,
never
too
old.
To
start
a
business.
There
he's
introducing
you
to
a
create
a
senior
who
is
doing
just
that
check
them
out.
Thanks
for
watching.
