B
Welcome
to
Bloomington
today
I'm
Laurie
Schulte
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
buzz
for
the
week
of
june
twenty-fourth
through
the
30th.
The
city
council
approved
the
organized
trash
collection
proposal.
At
its
june
twenty
second
meeting
council
members
voted
621
to
move
forward.
The
proposal
was
drafted
with
all
seven
licensed
haulers
already
operating
in
bloomington,
the
average
proposed
rate
for
trash
and
recycling
will
be
eighteen
dollars
and
forty-nine
cents.
Currently,
the
weighted
average
in
the
city
is
twenty-six
dollars
and
72
cents
per
month.
B
The
next
steps
include
planning
and
preparation
for
the
change
with
organized
collection,
starting
in
April
of
2016
Public
Works
officials
say
this
new
plan
will
cut
down
on
truck
traffic,
which
will
make
roads
safer
and
less
susceptible
to
damage.
Before
this
decision
there
was
a
public
hearing
and
open
house
where
residents
could
ask
questions
and
share
concerns.
The
city
council
also
approved
staff
to
determine
CenturyLink's
legal,
technical
and
financial
qualifications
and
to
begin
negotiations
with
Centrelink,
adding
a
competitor
to
the
cable
TV
market
in
Bloomington.
B
Centurylink
is
seeking
franchise
agreements
throughout
the
Twin
Cities
and
has
already
started
serving
residents
in
Minneapolis.
The
company
recently
submitted
an
application
for
a
cable
TV
franchise
in
Bloomington.
Finally,
at
that
City
Council
meeting
veep
was
recognized
for
its
contributions
to
health
and
wellness
in
the
area.
Minnesota's
largest
food
shelf
received
the
2015
health
and
wellness
award.

a

advocate

Beyond
their

impacts
the
community.
The
Communications
Division,
was
also
recognized
during
the
meeting.
The
city
received

More
development
is
coming
to
Bloomington
this
time
at
france

an
old
shakopee
road.
The
third
phase
of
the
park
Place
project,
will
finally
get
underway.
The
first
two
phases
were
already
built
with
the
walgreens
and
star
choice:
credit
union
there,
the
recession
delayed
plans
for
the
third
phase,
but
the
property
sold
June.
First,
the
new
development
will
be
a
20,000
square-foot
multi-tenant
center.
There
will
be
three
new
restaurants,
along
with
retail
stores,
the
largest
eatery
will
be
Willie
McCoy's,
which
will
have
rooftop
seating
planning
manager.

New
building
will
be
close
to
the
street
with
parking
in
the
rear.
Similar

the
point
development

by
a
true
sign
of
summer.
Both
the
Bloomington
family
aquatic
center
and
bush
lake
beach
are
now
open.
The
aquatic
center
will
stay
open
through
late
August.
There
you'll
find
a
zero
depth.
B
If
pools,
aren't
your
thing
you
can
head
over
to
bush
lake
beach,
which
has
been
around
since
nineteen
fifty
six,
it's
one
of
the
state's
most
popular
beaches
with
more
than
100,000
visitors
each
year,
a
daily
pass
or
seasonal
parking
permit
is
required
to
enter
daily
passes
are
seven
dollars
and
seasonal
permits
are
thirty-five
dollars
for
the
first
car.
There
is
a
boat
launch
available
as
well,
but
only
motors
up
to
six
horsepower
can
be
used,
as
you
saw
summer.
B
Weather
is
in
full
swing,
but
if
you
want
to
take
a
break
from
the
Sun,
you
can
experience
the
season
inside
at
Civic
Plaza,
the
exhibit
in
the
atrium
gallery
is
full
of
summer
color.
It's
called
to
the
fields,
a
celebration
of
perennial
beauty
by
artist
Kathleen
Krishnan,
these
oil
paintings
celebrate
field
flowers
in
their
natural
habitat.
In
each
piece
the
viewer
is
I
level
with
the
plants,
a
unique
view.
The
artist
says
gives
each
piece
sculptural
quality
and
a
strong
sense
of
place.
This
exhibit
will
be
on
display
through
August.
B
Second
you'll
want
to
be
sure
to
check
it
out.
That
is
the
buzz
on
Bloomington
today
for
the
week
of
june
twenty-fourth
through
the
30th.
If
you
would
like
to
watch
other
stories
from
the
show
go
to
this
week's
playlist,
there
you'll
find
a
story
that
breaks
down
how
land
surveying
equipment
works.
There's
also
a
piece
highlighting
the
let's
go.
Fishing
program
and
partnership
with
human
services
check
out
those
stories,
and
thanks
for
watching.
