A
B
Welcome
to
bloomington
today
I'm
lori
schulte
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
buzz
for
the
week
of
march
11th
through
the
17th
bloomington's.
South
loop
is
a
hotbed
for
development
and
transportation
projects
this
year
will
improve
its
infrastructure
as
well.
Starting
this
spring,
the
plaza
over
lindal
lane
will
be
completed
with
sidewalks
and
landscaping.
B
A
Sense
of
place
so
we're
doing
place
making
with
the
art
which
it'll
make
the
district
more
distinctive
it'll,
make
it
more
walkable
in
a
place
where
people
remember
we're
looking
at
putting
what
they
call
wraps
on
some
of
our
utility
boxes,
and
they
do
that
in
minneapolis.
Some
people
may
have
seen
that
there.
B
When
the
lindau
lane
area
is
complete,
road
crews
will
also
be
working
in
the
bloomington
central
station
area
near
the
intersection
of
34th
avenue
and
american
boulevard.
Construction
will
complete
33rd
avenue
and
81st
street
building
construction
will
take
two
years
and
will
be
complete
in
the
fall
of
2016..
B
Major
road
construction
in
the
south
loop
is
nearly
finished
for
now.
Peterson
says
drivers
shouldn't
run
into
too
many
detours
or
delays.
This
summer
the
city
launched
a
new
website
upgrading
the
experience
on
your
mobile
device.
Here's
a
look
at
the
new
bloomingtonmn.gov,
the
city's
old
site
was
functional,
but
its
lack
of
mobile
capability
caused
the
change
on
the
new
website.
You
can
easily
browse
on
a
tablet
or
smartphone.
In
2011,
only
three
percent
of
people
were
visiting
the
site
from
a
mobile
device.
Now
half
of
website
visitors
are
mobile.
B
B
Bloomington
is
a
hospitality
hub
and
some
of
its
leaders
were
recognized
for
their
outstanding
service.
The
annual
diamond
service
awards
gala,
recognizes
excellence
in
the
tourism
and
hospitality
industry.
This
is
a
picture
of
the
food
safety
winners
who
received
the
award
based
on
2014
health
inspections
from
left
to
right.
There's
a
representative
from
radisson
blue
american
girl,
wendy's
on
80th
street
dominoes
on
bloomington,
ferry
road
and
cub
foods
on
france
mayor
jean
winstead
also
received
the
spirit
of
hospitality
award.
It's
given
to
a
person
or
company
that
made
a
big
contribution
to
the
industry.
B
Winstead
was
recognized
for
many
accomplishments,
including
encouraging
major
developments
around
the
city
and
serving
on
the
planning,
commission
and
airport
foundation
board.
Some
bloomington
firefighters
took
a
break
from
the
fire
station
to
help
a
different
cause.
Last
month,
a
group
of
eight
firefighters
climbed
1280
steps
at
the
ids
center
in
minneapolis
in
support
of
the
cystic
fibrosis
foundation.
B
They
did
it
in
full
gear
weighing
upwards
of
80
pounds.
Everyone
made
the
climb
on
a
single
tank
of
air.
Firefighters
are
working
to
get
more
involved
in
the
community
with
events
like
this,
while
also
encouraging
physical
fitness,
the
state's
largest
food
shelf
kicked
off
their
march
food
drive
with
cocktails.
B
The
wine
and
beer
tasting
event
drew
close
to
250
people
at
veep.
About
ten
thousand
dollars
was
raised
between
tickets
and
donations.
The
event
a
tostaveep
was
meant
to
call
attention
to
the
march
food
drive.
It's
an
important
time
to
donate,
because
resources
collected
during
the
holidays
start
to
run
low
vip
is
always
looking
for
donations
and
volunteers,
and
one
board
member
said
lending
a
hand
can
pay
off.
C
I
think
it
keeps
a
community
vibrant.
It
keeps
people
wanting
to
come
into
this
community
and
make
a
life
here.
In
addition
to
the
board,
I
am
a
general
volunteer
from
time
to
time.
I
work
in
the
in
the
warehouse
that
we're
standing
in
right
now,
looking
at
labels
on
donated
goods
to
make
sure
that
they're,
okay
to
put
onto
the
pantry
shelves.
