Description
Bloomington Minnesota City Council Meeting
A
A
Thank
you
and
again
welcome
to
everybody
and
welcome
to
all
the
members
of
the
community
watching
this
evening
as
well.
Also
as
we
get
started,
I
wanted
to
update
you
and
the
rest
of
the
community
on
on
the
status
of
what
we
all
recognize,
I
think,
is
a
rapidly
evolving
and
frankly,
very
tense
kind
of
situation
here
in
the
twin
cities.
A
Just
wanted
to
fill
you
in.
As
you
probably
know,
governor
wallace
has
issued
a
curfew
beginning
at
7.
00
p.m.
This
this
evening,
through
6
a.m,
tuesday,
and
here
in
bloomington
city
hall,
facilities,
will
be
closing
at
6,
30
p.m
and
just
under
a
half
hour
here,
the
full
expectation
that
they're
going
to
reopen
again
at
the
regular
time
in
the
morning.
A
I
want
to
make
sure
that
all
city
employees
that
are
needed
to
transmit
this
meeting
are
able
to
get
home
before
the
7
pm
curfew,
so
we're
all
appearing
remotely
this
evening.
That's
why
I'm
not
in
the
council
chambers,
but
as
always,
each
of
us
can
hear
each
other
and
we're
in
full
contact
with
each
other
bloomington
police.
They
will
be
adding
officers
to
patrol
this
evening
and
we
will
be
supplemented
by
bloomington
fire
who
will
also
be
out
and
about.
A
We
want
to
ensure
that
bloomington
public
safety
is
visible
and
that
we
have
as
many
eyes
and
ears
on
the
streets
and
the
parks
and
the
neighborhoods
as
possible.
I
have,
as
I
know
you
all
do.
I
have
great
confidence
in
our
bloomington
police
and
fire
they're
among
the
best
anywhere
tonight.
As
always,
I
trust
they're
going
to
do
an
outstanding
job.
Protecting
bloomington-
and
I
know
you'll
all
join
me
in
wishing
them
safety
tonight
and
finally,
our
public
works
and
park.
A
Recreation
staff
will
have
the
lights
turned
on
at
all
of
our
parks
and
all
of
the
park
facilities
all
night
long
council
I've
said
before,
and
I
will
definitely
say
again,
I'm
proud
of
the
work
done
by
this
city
council
and
I'm
proud
of
the
work
done
by
our
bloomington
city
staff,
on
the
subject
of
race
and
equity
and
in
the
months
since
george
floyd's
death,
we've
talked
quite
a
bit
about
race
in
bloomington
and
we
can
demonstrate
some
actual
tangible
accomplishments.
Here
we've
adopted
a
racial
equity
business
plan.
A
A
A
We
still
have
a
lot
of
work
to
do
here
in
bloomington
and
throughout
minnesota,
and
I
hope
that
this
entire
community
will
continue
to
be
committed
and
to
show
your
commitment
to
this
work
on
racial
equity
and
on
justice
here
in
bloomington.
It's
work
that
absolutely
has
to
happen,
and
I
would
ask
everyone.
This
is
a
difficult
time
for
a
lot
of
folks
in
this
community,
and
I
would
ask
everyone
throughout
bloomington,
be
kind
to
each
other
face
to
face,
certainly
online
across
social
media
be
kind
to
each
other.
A
This
is
a
difficult
time
for
a
lot
of
folks
and
given
the
events
in
brooklyn
center
and
the
curfew
imposed
by
governor
walls,
I
would
like
to
make
an
adjustment
to
our
meeting
tonight
as
we
get
to
that.
I
would
like
to
turn
to
miss
christensen
if
we
could
officially
call
the
role
and
then
I'd
like
to
offer
a
motion.
A
A
Here
all
seven
members
of
the
bloomington
city
council
are
with
us
this
evening
and
council.
If
I
could
chris,
if
you
could
share
the
the
motion
on
your
screen
for
us,
please
again,
given
the
events
in
brooklyn
center,
given
the
curfew
and
posed
by
governor
walls.
A
Given
the
the
unease
I
think,
throughout
our
community,
I
would
like
to
make
the
official
motion
to
open
the
public
hearings
for
items
7.1
and
7.2
on
our
agenda
this
evening
and
then
to
continue
the
bolt
until
the
april
19
2021,
the
city
council
meeting
I'd
like
to
continue
the
balance
of
the
agenda
items
this
evening
to
a
later
meeting
date
as
soon
as
possible,
as
determined
by
the
city
manager
and
finally,
I'd
like
a
motion
to
adjourn
this
meeting.
A
A
A
A
Hi
motion
carries
7-0.
We
are
adjourned
until
next
monday
night.
Thank
you
all
for
your
time
this
evening.
Thank
you
to
our
community
members
for
being
with
us
this
evening.
A
Please
please,
please
observe
the
curfew
and
exercise
your
first
amendment
rights
to
freedom
of
speech,
understanding
that
the
first
amendment
rights
do
not
extend
to
property
damage
or
destruction
or
any
kind
of
harm
inflicted
on
others.
So
everyone
thanks
for
your
being
with
us
this
evening.
Please
stay
safe
good
night.
