From YouTube: Council Minute November 9
Description
A Veterans Day message from Mayor Tim Busse as Bloomington veterans come to pick up their goodie bags, an annual tradition coordinated by Community Outreach and Engagement.
A
Hello,
Bloomington
I'm
mayor
Tim
Bussey,
and
this
is
the
council
minute
for
the
week
of
November
7th,
no
council
meeting
this
week,
but
still
plenty
going
on
in
the
city
of
Bloomington,
and
you
can
tell
this
week
we're
not
in
the
studio.
We
are
here
in
the
lobby
of
Civic
Plaza,
where
we
are
celebrating
Veterans
Day.
A
In
conjunction
with
our
friends
at
Northwestern,
Health
Sciences
and
our
local
American
Legion
host
Bloomington
is
handing
out.
Thank
you
bags
to
more
than
425
veterans
who
are
from
the
city
of
Bloomington.
We
are
our
veterans,
a
great
deal
of
thanks
every
day,
but
certainly
on
Veterans
Day.
We
want
to
make
sure
that
we
recognize
the
sacrifice
that
they
put
forward
the
effort
that
they
put
forward
and
all
that
they
contribute
to
our
city
each
and
every
day.
I
still
look
as
handsome
are
you
in
here?
A
Oh
absolutely,
very
nice
I've
had
great
conversations
with
folks,
including
a
101
year
old
World,
War,
II,
veteran
who's,
told
me
a
story
about
how
he
shot
down
his
first
German
plan
when
he
was
20
years
old
talked
to
a
lot
of
veterans
from
the
Vietnam
era.
I've
talked
to
folks
from
more
recent
Wars
conflicts
in
the
Middle
East,
if
you're
in
Civic
Plaza
be
sure
to
stop
by
and
see
our
veterans
wall.
It's
right
behind
me
here.
A
A
series
of
photographs
of
Bloomington
veterans
It's
a
Wonderful
way
to
look
at
and
to
remember
and
to
appreciate
the
veterans
that
we
have
here
in
Bloomington,
if
you
can't
make
it
here
in
person
in
Civic,
Plaza
click
on
this
link
that
you
see
on
the
screen
and
you'll
be
able
to
see
all
of
the
pictures.
All
of
them
make
such
important
contributions
to
our
community
and
we
thank
them
for
their
service.
Now.
A
One
thing
to
remember
one
great
way
that
we're
trying
to
thank
and
remember
veterans
is
the
Bloomington
remembers,
veterans
Group,
which
is
working
very
hard
to
build
a
Bloomington,
Veterans
Memorial
right
here
on
the
grounds
of
Civic
Plaza
it'll,
be
right
out
those
doors
right
between
Civic
Plaza
and
the
pond
they've
got
an
ongoing
fundraising
effort
and
information
effort
underway.
Please
visit
their
website
for
more
information,
and
finally,
today
this
week,
of
course,
was
election
day
here
in
the
city
of
Bloomington.
A
The
state
of
Minnesota
and
Nationwide
I
want
to
say
congratulations
to
all
the
folks,
both
locally
and
Statewide,
who
won
their
elections
and
to
tell
you
I,
look
forward
to
working
with
you.
We've
got
a
lot
of
work
to
do
here
in
Bloomington,
looking
forward
to
collaborating
with
you
to
make
sure
that
we
can
continue
to
move
Bloomington
forward
also
to
the
folks
who
were
not
on
The
Winning
Side
of
Elections.
Thank
you
for
running
I
know
it's
a
tricky
thing.
A
It's
it's
hard
to
put
yourself
out
there
and
to
come
up
short,
can
be
a
difficult
thing,
but
I
want
to
say.
Thank
you.
Thank
you
for
doing
so.
Thank
you
for
playing
the
part
in
the
Democracy
that
we
have
here
in
the
United
States
and
finally,
I
want
to
give
our
biggest
thanks
to
you,
the
voters
of
Bloomington,
turning
out
again
in
fantastic
numbers
and
to
our
city
clerk
staff,
who
once
again
ran
a
Flawless
Bloomington
election
Bloomington
elections
are
always
well
run,
they're,
efficient
and,
most
importantly,
they're
drama-free.
That's
how
we
like
them.
