From YouTube: Sustainability Commission hosts energy tours
Description
The Sustainability Commission is hosting tours at local businesses in an effort to inspire people with new ideas to conserve energy.
B
Last
year,
in
2018,
our
sustainability
program
saved
the
organization
over
2.5
million
dollars.
A
lot
of
that
money.
Savings
came
from
our
energy
efficiency
programs,
so
we
work
closely
with
our
utilities,
especially
Xcel
Energy,
to
identify
energy
saving
opportunities
and
get
rebates
from
them
to
upgrade
our
facilities
to
make
them
more
efficient.
In
addition,
we
have
several
commitments
for
community
solar
Gardens.
The
other
big
area
where
we
save
a
lot
of
money
is
with
our
greening
the
o.r
initiatives.
B
A
C
Seen
a
drastic
decrease
in
our
energy
consumption,
our
electric
utility
usage
has
decreased
more
than
44%
last
year
and
all
these
sustainability
projects
have
been
implemented.
We
also
saw
a
decrease
in
our
natural
gas
usage
in
the
area,
five
percent
and
then
another
large
decrease
that
we
saw
was
just
our
our
water
consumption
dropped
by
around
55
56
percent.
This.
A
D
Idea
here
with
the
tours
in
general,
is
to
give
other
businesses
a
broad
spectrum
of
ideas
and
how
they
can
implement
some
of
these
ideas
in
their
own
business
and
we'll
invite
Excel
and
Centrepointe
to
talk
about
the
rebates
that
are
possible.
The
goal
is
people,
come
away,
inspired,
excited
and
find
new
ways
to
implement
some
of
this
stuff
get
together
and
talk
about
best
practices
and
share
those
best
practices
with
others,
because.
B
Think
it
makes
me
really
proud
to
be
working
in
the
city
of
Bloomington.
I
was
involved
in
the
partners
an
energy
program
for
over
a
year,
and
it
was
really
great
to
see
the
businesses
step
up
and
to
commit
to
reducing
their
carbon
footprint
and
that
Health
Partners
is
definitely
aligned
with
that
philosophy.
