A
Welcome
to
bloomington
today,
I'm
emily
taplin
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
buzz
for
the
week
of
october
20th
through
the
26th
calling
all
environmental
sustainability
champions,
help
preserve
bloomington's
biodiversity
by
taking
out
invasive
buckthorn.
The
event
is
saturday
october
30th
from
10
a.m.
To
noon
at
nine
mile
creek
volunteers
should
park
and
meet
at
harrison
park.
The
address
is
listed
on
your

Volunteers
will
help
cut
pile
and
haul
buckthorn.

Improvements
continue
at
dred
scott
play
fields.
The
park
has
seen
a
number
of
improvements
over
the
years,
including
a
new
wheelhouse
building
completed
in
2020..
This
fall
field.
Lighting
replacement
will
begin
on
four
of
the
fields.
The
current
lighting
is
original
to
the
park,
which
makes
it
more
than
40
years
old.
A
B
We
are
really
excited
to
use
this
opportunity
to
respond
to
the
requests
we've
heard
from
residents
of
adding
more
dedicated,
pickleball
courts
in
bloomington.
Right
now,
we
have
one
set
of
dedicated
courts
pretty
centrally
located
in
westwood,
but
they're
really
busy,
there's
not
a
lot
of
parking
which
bleeds
into
the
neighborhoods.
B
We
are
taking
two
of
the
six
tennis
courts
that
were
here
and
converting
them
to
six
pickleball
courts
and
retaining
four
tennis
courts.
This
is
a
great
opportunity
to
add
more
pickleball,
while
still
keeping
tennis
the
park
system
master
plan
that
the
community
helped
us
build
is
really
setting
the
stage
for
what
residents
want
in
bloomington
in
the
future.
What
amenities
and
experiences
and
this
project
is
one
of
many
things
that
we
are
addressing
to
respond
to
what
residents
have
asked
for
in
our
parks.
