A
Welcome
to
bloomington
today
I'm
emily
taplin
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
buzz
for
the
week
of
september,
8th
through
the
14th,
a
new
assistant
city
manager
has
been
named.
City
manager,
jamie
verbruge
has
selected
michael
sable.
Sable
brings
more
than
20
years
of
local
government
experience
to
bloomington.
Sable
is
currently
the
assistant
city
manager
for
the
city
of
maplewood
and
serves
as
its
human
resources
director,
as
well
as
managing
its
city
clerk
and
wellness
safety
initiatives.
A
A
It
lists
the
number
of
cases
in
the
city,
deaths
and
number
of
other
statistics
to
see
the
most
up-to-date
information
head
to
blm.mn
covet
data.
The
minnesota
department
of
health
has
a
new
coven
19
testing
site
in
bloomington.
It's
located
at
the
former
motor
vehicle
office
at
9930,
logan
avenue.
South
the
site
is
located
right
across
from
the
public
health
parking
lot.
The
saliva
testing
site
will
provide
free,
coven
19
tests
and
will
be
open
monday
through
friday,
from
11am
to
6pm.
A
Walk-Ins
are
welcome.
Some
things
to
note.
Testing
will
take
about
30
minutes,
do
not
eat
drink
smoke
or
chew,
gum,
30
minutes
before
you
get
tested.
If
you
have
health
insurance
bring
your
card,
construction
crews
are
working
on
redirecting
and
expanding
the
sewer
system
in
bloomington's
south
loop,
current
and
upcoming
development
in
the
area
has
caused
the
existing
sanitary
sewer
to
become
close
to
its
capacity
limit.
B
This
project
will
be
done
in
two
separate
phases.
The
first
phase
is
here
in
20
this
year,
2021,
where
we
will
be
upgrading
the
sanitary
sewer
along
east
old
shock
from
24th
to
28th
and
then
also
28th
avenue
from
east
old
shock
up
to
american
boulevard
and
then
in
2022
will
be
phase
two,
which
will
be
continuing
that
work
on
american
boulevard
from
28th
to
just
east
of
34th.
A
A
The
newest
and
longest
mural
in
the
south
loop
is
a
colorful
collaboration
of
many
voices.
The
mural
was
curated
by
ushi,
creative
and
commissioned
by
the
city
in
partnership
with
artistry.
The
mural
series
is
located
on
two
walls
of
an
xl
energy
substation
at
the
corner
of
american
boulevard
and
30th
avenue
south.
C
There's
five
mural
designs
by
guest
artists:
there's
a
few
teams
amongst
that
group
and
then
oishi
collective
is
also
doing
a
stitched,
mural
together
and
so
in
total
there'll
be
10
artists
and
we're
featuring
a
lot
of
women,
a
lot
of
my
poc
folks
and
in
public
art
and
community.
This
is
definitely
like
the
folks
that
inspire
us,
but
also
these
folks
are
greatly
underrepresented
in
the
field
and
we
really
wanted
their
artwork
to
also
reflect
the
growing
communities
in
bloomington
and
the
surrounding
area.
A
A
That
is
the
buzz
on
bloomington
today
for
the
week
of
september,
8th
through
the
14th.
If
you
would
like
to
watch
other
stories
from
the
show
go
to
this
week's
playlist,
there
you'll
find
plans
to
manage
cattails
at
busch
lake
beach,
plus
a
new
mechanical
member
of
the
city's
parks
and
recreation
team.
Thanks
for
watching.
