First,
we
bring
you
the
Buzz
for
the
week
of
December
7th
through
the
13th.
The
Bloomington
city
council
will
have
a
vacancy
for
one
of
its
at-large
seats.
Nathan
Coulter
is
currently
an
at-large
council
member
and
will
resign
from
his
position
with
the
city
council
on
January,
2nd.
After
being
elected
to
the
Minnesota
House
of
Representatives
Bloomington
residents,
May
apply
for
the
open
seat,
beginning
December,
8th
council
members
are
paid
twelve
thousand
three
hundred
and
ninety
seven
dollars
annually
for
the
part-time
position.
A
Candidates
must
submit
a
cover
letter
resume
and
completed
application
by
December
22nd.
The
application
is
available
for
download
at
blm.mn
council
members.
The
city
council
will
conduct
interviews
and
make
an
appointment
by
late
January.
The
person
appointed
to
the
open
seat
will
fill
coulter's
unexpired
term
until
the
next
regular
municipal
election
on
November
7th
2023.
The
election
results
will
determine
who
fills
the
remainder
of
the
term,
which
expires
January
5th
2026..
The
Metro
d-line
is
officially
open.
A
Metro
Transit
federal
state
county
and
city
leaders
celebrated
the
grand
opening
on
Saturday
December
3rd
at
the
Mall
of
America
transit
station.
The
d-line
is
an
18-mile
bus,
Rapid
Transit
line
that
will
serve
the
communities
of
Brooklyn,
Center,
Minneapolis,
Richfield
and
Bloomington.
It
will
connect
people
across
the
region
to
job
centers,
housing
options,
Transit
stations
and
other
important
destinations.

This
Transit
line
is
important
because
one
in
four
households
along
the
d-line
corridor
do
not
own
a
vehicle
and
rely
on
transit
to
get
to
work,
to
get
to
school
and
to
run
their
errands
with
the
opening
of
the
d-line
bus
rapid
transit
system.
This
will
be
bloomington's
second
brt
line
with
the
orange
line
that
opened
a
year
ago.
The.
A
D-Line
is
Minnesota's
longest
br
RT
line.
We
invite
you
to
shop
small
this
holiday
season.
Bloomington
has
partnered
with
Hennepin
County
to
launch
the
love
local
campaign.
There
are
38
000
businesses
in
Hennepin,
County
that
have
100
employees
or
less
you'll,
be
seeing
this
logo
on
small
businesses
around
town
to
help
identify
them.
City
staff
will
be
dropping
them
off
at
businesses
around
town.
If
you
need
one
for
your
business,
you
can
stop
by
city
hall
and
pick
one
up
at
the
front
desk.

love
local
campaign
reminds
us
to
support
those
small
businesses
who
make
our
community
vibrant
this
holiday
season
and
throughout
the
year,
show
us
photos
of
your
purchases
and
how
you're
supporting
local
businesses
by
using
the
hashtag

a
free
event
at
Mall
of
America
is
bringing
some
holiday
cheer
to
a
good
cause.
You
can
tour
the
Festival
of
trees
at
no
cost,
with
the
option
to
buy
raffle
tickets
to
win
the
items
on
your
favorite
trees,
including
a
canine
themed
tree
from
the
Bloomington
Police
Department.

Archery
is
decorated
with
all
kinds
of
things
dogs,
signage,
dog,
treats
coupons
for
dog
washes
any
ticket
that
you
decide
to
put
in
for
a
tree.
You
win
the
contents
that
are
on
that
tree,
so
you'd
win
the
ornaments
here
all
of
the
items
that
are
displayed
on
the
tree
as
well
as
under
the
tree.
So
for
ten
dollars
you
can
buy
that
raffle
ticket
for
the
chance
to
win
the
money
that
is
raised
through
the
event
here
goes
towards
the
Special
Olympics.

on
North
for

and
times
visit.

Police
Department
is
also
spreading
the
holiday
spirit
through
gift.
Giving
the
Bloomington
Police
Santa
cop
program
is
an
annual
event
that
started
in
2020
to
provide
gifts
to
families
who
need
a
little
extra
help.

under
the

department
collects
unwrapped
donations
from
community
members
and
will
distribute
them
to
families
right
in
the
Bloomington
Community,
to
nominate
a
family
to
receive
gifts
or
learn
how
you
can
help
