A
Thank
you
welcome
to
Bloomington
today,
I'm
Emily
taplin
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
Buzz
for
the
week
of
October
26th
through
November
1st.
A
recent
article
by
finance
and
commerce
speaks
favorably
about
housing
in
Bloomington.
The
article
posted
on
October
4th
was
titled,
Bloomington
housing
booms
and
emphasizes
affordability.
It.
B
Was
great
to
finally
be
acknowledged
as
a
leader
in
the
affordable
housing
development
world,
the
city
of
Bloomington
passed
a
opportunity,
housing
ordinance
in
2019
and
has
been
working
very
hard
on
meeting
the
10-year
projected
met
Council
goals,
and
so
what
the
article
did
was
highlight.
The
incredible
work
that
the
staff
here
at
the
city
of
Bloomington
has
been
doing
for
the
last
three
years
to
accomplish
this,
and
so
I
was
very
proud
to
see
that
the
work
finally
got
the
accolades.
It
deserved.
The.
A
Article
references,
how
strong
demand
for
housing
in
Bloomington
is
driving
rapid
growth
and
highlights
the
city's
intentional
approach
toward
meeting
its
20
30,
affordable
housing
goals,
which
are
already
ahead
of
schedule.
The
Metropolitan
Council
set
a
goal
of
842
affordable
units
throughout
Bloomington
between
2021
and
2030.
a
year
and
a
half
into
that
period.
Bloomington
is
already
77
percent
of
the
way
towards
accomplishing
that
goal.
I.
B
Think
it
was
important
to
have
third
party
validators
like
a
developer,
or
you
know
the
president
of
a
non-profit
that
does
housing
to
recognize
the
efforts
and
the
commitment
that
not
only
that
the
team
has
to
affordable
housing,
but
also
to
our
city
council.
Our
mayor
and
our
city
council
are
dedicated
to
achieving
these
goals
and
I
love.
The
quote,
you
know:
Bloomington
puts
their
money
where
their
mouth
is,
because
we
have
incentivized
developers
to
get
the
affordable
components
into
to
their
projects,
and
it's
showing
that
it
works.
B
I
also
want
to
acknowledge
that
our
city
council,
our
mayor,
you
know,
really
allows
staff
to
get
creative
and
use
whatever
tools
are
kind
of
in
the
toolbox.
Our
opportunity,
housing
ordinance,
has
been
amended
twice,
which
means
it's
a
living
ordinance
and
every
time
you
know,
we
learn
something
new
about
the
ordinance
that
can
help
Advance
the
goals
of
affordable
housing.
We
feel
that
we
can
take
it
back
to
city
council
and
have
that
conversation
with
our
Planning
Commission.

you

leaves
are
one
of
the
main
causes
of
poor

quality
in
the

When
leaves
are
left
in
the
street.
A
They
end
up
in
storm
water
sewer
where
they're
carried
to
nearby
lakes

ponds
they
have
