A
A
It's
happening
wednesday
august
17th
at
the
oak
grove
middle
school
auditorium
from
7
to
8,
30
pm
you'll
be
able
to
ask
questions
and
learn
about
ongoing
and
upcoming
city
projects
at
the
event,
a
happy
30th
birthday
to
mall
of
america.
The
mall
is
a
leader
in
retail,
entertainment
and
attractions,
and
one
of
the
top
tourist
destinations
across
the
country
and
known
around
the
world.
The
former
site
was
home
to
the
metropolitan
stadium
until
the
twins
and
vikings
relocated,
downtown
in
1982,
leaving
78
acres
of
prime
real
estate.
A
B
Hospitality
is
the
biggest
industry
in
the
city
of
bloomington
and
with
the
mall
as
an
anchor
in
that
hospitality
industry
between
the
hotels,
the
bars,
the
restaurants,
the
liquor
and
lodging
taxes
that
are
collected
by
the
city
of
bloomington
that
equals
about
10
million
dollars
a
year.
That's
13
percent
of
the
city's
general
fund.
It
has
an
enormous
impact
on
the
city's
general
fund
and
on
the
taxpayers
of
bloomington.
Without
them,
all
the
tax
base
would
be
much
less
and
the
tax
bill
on
the
residence
would
be
much
higher.
I.
C
Think
what
makes
mall
of
america
unique
is
that
it's
a
destination,
it's
not
a
mall
sure
we
have
500
stores.
We
have
everything
you
could
wish
to
buy.
Almost
on
property.
We
have
great
places
to
eat
fast,
casual,
fine,
dining,
there's
attractions
right,
sea
life
and
nickelodeon,
and
so
many
things
to
do.
But
really
what
makes
this
place
unique
is
that
it
is
a
landmark
and
a
destination.

A
Find
out
how
you
can
celebrate
this
milestone,
visit
mall
of
america.com
birthday
for
events
and
experiences.
Nominations
are
being
accepted
for
the
omar
bondaroo
human
rights
award.
This
award
is
presented
by
the
human
rights
commission
to
an
individual
or
organization
that
has
made
a
significant
contribution
to
ensuring
the
rights
of
vulnerable
groups
in
bloomington
omar
bondarood
was
the
first
chairperson
of
the
commission,
formed
in
1968.

D
E
It's
going
to
be
a
really
cool
opportunity
for
people
to
come
out
to
normandale
and
experience
music
that
we
typically
haven't
featured
in
the
arts
in
the
parks
series.
That
was
one
of
the
goals
of
doing
the
the
on
the
one
festival
was
to
kind
of
introduce
some
new
music
styles
to
our
arts
in
the
park
series.
The.
D
Partnership
with
bloomington
is
a
very
unique
and
amazing
one,
because
we
both
have
the
same
initiative,
and
that
is
bringing
people
to
a
higher
level
of
consciousness
through
art
through
music
and
diversifying.
We
feel
that
music
in
the
arts
is
a
great
way
to
bring
people
together.
A
great
way
to
just
make
our
commonalities
come
together,
and
the
future
of
the
city
of
bloomington
is
looking
very,
very
bright.
F
F
Things
so
to
be
here
and
to
represent
not
only
my
community
but
to
represent
community
well,
take
a
part
in
something
that
represents
my
community,
typically
doing
it
in
an
environment
that
we're
not
always
in
out
here
in
bloomington
and
then
at
the
same
time.
You
know
it's
just
food
and
music,
I
mean
that's
the
one
place
you
can
go
where
it
doesn't
matter
what
walk
of
life
you're
from
what
you
do.
Everybody
wants
to
come
together
and
have
a
good
time.
D
I
would
love
for
you
to
come
out
to
come
to
this
show
we
have
put
so
much
work
into
it
and
we're
representing
the
state
of
minnesota,
the
music
scene
on
a
high
level
and
we're
representing
you
all,
each
and
every
one
of
you
so
come
on
out.
It's
free,
it's
open
to
the
public
and
your
presence
will
be
a
present.
Thank
you.
A
The
last
day
of
the
festival
is
friday
august
12th
from
6
to
10
p.m.
At
the
normandale
lake
bandshell,
the
free
event
is
for
all
ages.
That
is
the
buzz
on
bloomington
today
for
the
week
of
august
10th
through
the
16th.
If
you
would
like
to
watch
other
stories
from
the
show
go

this
week's
playlist,
there
you'll
find
a
farewell
to
david
fong's

64
years
of
business
in
bloomington,
