we
bring
you
the
buzz
for
the
weeks
of
february
16th.
Through
march
1st,
the
city
has
announced
its
next
chief
of
police
city
manager.
Jamie
verbruge
has
selected
dr
booker
t
hodges
for
the
bloomington
police
department's
top
position.

Dr
hodges
has
extensive
experience
in
law
enforcement
and
is
currently
serving
as
the
assistant
commissioner
at
the
minnesota
department
of
public
safety.
Prior
to
that
he
served
as
chief
of
police
in
prior
lake
under
sheriff
at
ramsey
county
and
sergeant
at
the
dakota
county
sheriff's
office.
Dr
hodges
will
begin
on
april.
4Th
come
work
with
the
city
this
summer,
parks
and
recreation
is
hiring
for
the
2022
summer
season.
They're
looking
for
motivated
people
to
fill
a
variety
of
seasonal
jobs,
staff
will
learn
valuable
life
skills
like
leadership,
teamwork,
customer
service
communication
and
responsibility.

include
things
like
lifeguard,
groundskeepers
and
youth
program
coordinators.

eco-friendly
gardens
and
landscape
projects.
Watershed
district
environmental
stewardship
grants
are
available
to
help
fund
projects
that
protect
and
improve
natural
resources
in
bloomington.

watershed
grants
offer
a
funding
source
for
residents,
associations,
non-profits
schools
and
businesses
interested
in
local
small
scale,
environmental
projects
like
rain,
gardens,
metal,
lawns
or
pollinator
gardens
to
learn
more
about
the
different
grant
options,

rain,
dash,
gardens
or
visit
the
website
of
your
local
watershed
district.
The
hra
has
restarted
the
home
improvement
loan
program.
This
program
provides
bloomington
homeowners,
the
ability
to
access
funds
to
maintain
repair
and
improve
their
homes.
Loans
up
to
forty
thousand
dollars
are
available
for
homeowners,
who
are
eligible
to
make
repairs
that
address
health
or
safety
requirements.

It
can
also
do
repairs
for
energy
efficiency
code
compliance
you
know
or
like
furnace
water,
heater,
electrical
updates
and
things
of
that
nature
and
we've.

That
you
know
when
the
repairs
are
done
to
to
homes
in
the
area
it
kind
of
has
a
contagious
effect
to
the
the
surrounding
homes
really
keeps
the
neighborhoods
up
keeps
people
in
their
homes.
You
know
making
those
necessary
repairs
and
also
you
know,
increase
the
pride
of
home
ownership
here
in
bloomington.

There
are
no
monthly
payments
and
the
loan
will
accrue
interest
at
an
annual
rate
of
2
percent
for
a
period
of
10
years
and
0
interest.
After
that,
homeowners
don't
have
to
repay
the
loan
until
they
sell,
transfer
title
or
the
property
is
no
longer
their
principal
place
of
residence
to
learn
more
about
requirements
and
to
apply
visit.

creative
placemaking
commission
partnered
with
the
minnesota
valley,
national
wildlife
refuge
for
the
second
luminary
night
hike
participants
signed
up
for
a
time
slot
for
the
roughly
20-minute
hike
that
took
place
at
the
old
cedar,
avenue
trailhead
and
included
a
walk
across
the
bridge
and
a
loop
around
the
nature
play
area
with
ice
lanterns
to
guide
the
way.
At
the
beginning
of
the
trail.
There
was
also
hot
chocolate:
east
african
spice
tea
and
a
unique
ice
sculpture.
