From YouTube: Bloomington Today: The BUZZ November 16
Description
A preview of the City’s upcoming bulky item pickup program that will reuse and recycle items, attend the next town tall forum and learn about a campaign supporting small businesses in Bloomington.
A
Welcome
to
Bloomington
today,
I'm
Emily
Chaplin
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
Buzz
for
the
weeks
of
November
16th
through
the
29th.
A
new
way
of
getting
rid
of
bulky
items
and
reducing
waste
is
coming
your
way
soon.
The
city
is
partnering,
with
a
non-profit
organization,
better
Futures
Minnesota,
to
collect
items
at
the
curb
for
reuse
and
recycling
in
an
effort
to
reduce
the
number
of
items
that
end
up
in
landfills.
A
B
This
is
still
in
its
pilot
phase
as
we're
kind
of
learning
how
the
service
works.
It's
available
right
now
to
about
4
000
homes
in
Bloomington,
and
they
are
spread
out
across
the
city,
so
there's
homes
on
the
Monday,
Tuesday,
Wednesday,
Thursday
and
Friday
pick
up
days
right
now.
If
residents
are
interested
and
would
like
to
learn
more
about
it
and
see
if
their
home
is
in
that
pilot,
we
do
have
a
map
available
on
our
website
for
them
to
learn
more
information
about
that.
It's
important
that
we
have
a
trial
of
this
new
program.
B
This
is
really
unique.
It's
not
a
service,
that's
seen
in
other
cities,
so
we
need
to
learn
how
this
works.
We
need
to
learn
what
sort
of
items
residents
are
setting
out
in
the
condition
that
they're
in
this
will
be
coming
Citywide,
but
there's
just
a
lot
of
information
that
we
do
need
to
learn
in
order
to
make
sure
that
it's
efficient
and
that
it's
serving
its
purpose
again.
We
want
to
focus
on
items
that
are
reusable
or
recyclable.

A
The
holiday
season
is
upon
us
and
we
invite
you
to
shop
small
on
Monday,
November
14th.
The
mayor
read
a
proclamation
for
small
business
Saturday,
reminding
us
of
the
outstanding
contributions
they
make
to
our
local
economy
and
Community.
Bloomington
has
partnered
with
Hennepin
County
to
launch
the
love
local
campaign.
There
are
38
thousand
businesses
in
Hennepin
County
that
have
a
hundred
employees
or
less
you'll
be
seeing
this
logo
on
small
businesses
around
town
to
help
identify
them.
City
staff
will
be
dropping
them
off
at
businesses
around
town.

mayor
Tim
Bussey
kicked
off
the
sequence
of
town
hall
forums
in
August,
inviting
community
members
to
ask
questions
and
learn
more
about
projects
and
initiatives
happening
in
the
city.
Since
then,
council
members,
Patrick,
Martin,
Dwayne,
Lohman
and
Lona

have
hosted
forums
in
their

news
about
Artistry
may
have
sparked
some
questions.
Here's
what
you
need
to
know
in
September
Artistry
announced
that
it
was
struggling
financially
coming
out
of
covid-19
and
asked
the
Bloomington
city
council
for
financial
support
in
October.
After
much
deliberation,
public
comment
and
thoughtful
discussion.
The
city
council
voted
down
artistry's
funding
proposal.
A
Artistry
is
one
of
seven
independent,
non-profit
resident
arts
groups
that
holds
a
lease
agreement
with
the
city
of
Bloomington
for
use
of
the
space
at
the
Center
for
the
Arts.
The
council's
decision
does
not
impact
the
other
Arts
organizations,
including
Angelica
cantante,
youth,
choirs,
Bloomington,
Corral,
Bloomington,
Symphony,
Orchestra,
Continental,
ballet,
The,
Medalist
concert
band
and
notable
singers.
They
are
all
independent,
non-profit
organizations
governed
separately
from
Artistry.
A
They
will
all
continue
to
operate
and
provide
performances,
education,
opportunities
and
other
programs
at
the
Bloomington
Center
for
the
Arts,
regardless

Timeless

they
will
be
performing
The,

December,

4th,
10th
and
11th.
The

is
the
