A
Welcome
to
bloomington
today,
I'm
emily
taplin
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
buzz
for
the
week
of
january
12th
through
the
18th
copen.
19
cases
continue
to
be
widespread
in
the
united
states
and
right
here
in
bloomington.
At
monday
night's
city
council
meeting
public
health
administrator,
dr
nick
kelly,
addressed
council
members.
B
With
so
many
people
becoming
ill
at
the
same
time,
we
also
expect
to
see
impacts
on
our
workforces
and
city
infrastructure.
Many
organizations
and
agencies
are
already
reporting
more
staff
out
sick
than
in
any
other
time.
In
this
pandemic,
for
example,
waste
management
last
week
had
trouble
picking
up
trash
in
several
cities
here
in
the
twin
cities:
metro
due
to
sick
staff
and
there's
delays
and
people
getting
prescriptions,
challenging
getting
health
care
appointments.
B
B
The
first
thing
that's
giving
me
hope
is
that
we
aren't
where
we
were
a
year
ago,
the
community
we
serve
and
live
in
is
highly
vaccinated.
With
eighty
percent
of
those
five
and
older
living
in
bloomington
being
fully
vaccinated
for
these
individuals,
we
can
expect
strong
protection
against
severe
illness.
At
the
same
time,
this
doesn't
cover
everyone
in
our
community,
which
is
why
we're
dependent
on
several
mitigation
measures.
C
D
When
people
elect
you
to
office,
they
elect
you
because
they
have
put
faith
and
trust
that
you
will
do
what's
best
for
them,
and
you
know
that's
no
small
thing.
So
I'm
grateful
for
the
opportunity.
I
will
do
my
very
best
and
I
look
forward
to
hearing
from
all
the
residents
of
district
three
as
we
move
forward.
