May
10th
through
the
16th,

a

helping
biodiversity
thrive
in
Bloomington,

Bloomington,
Park
staff
and
sustainability.
Commission
members
to
pull
invasive
garlic
mustard
along
Nine
Mile
Creek.
It's
happening
at
Harrison
Park
on
Saturday
May
13th
from
10
a.m.
To
noon.
Garlic
mustard
is
a
non-native
invasive
plant
that
often
moves
in
after
Buckthorn
is
removed.
No
experience
is
necessary.
A
Instructions

Equipment
will
be
provided
just
bring
work
gloves
and
a
water
bottle
for
additional
details.

The
city
council
takes
action
aiming
to
help
pollinators
on
April
17th.
The
council
voted
to
temporarily
suspend
enforcement
of
city
ordinances
related
to
lawn
Heights,
so
residents
can
participate
in
Nomo
May.
The
goal
of
the
initiative
is
to
allow
yards
to
grow
for
the
month
of
May,
creating
a
habitat
for
early
season
pollinators.
This
is
particularly
important
in
urban
areas
where
Floral
resources
are
often
limited.
A
City
staff
work
on
these
efforts
all
year.
Long
last
fall,
Park
maintenance,
converted
areas
of
mode
Turf
to
Native
Prairie
in
four
Parks,
adding
approximately
nine
acres
of
pollinator
habitat.
The
park
maintenance
team
manages
native
plantings
at
55
sites.
Totaling
278
Acres
across
the
city,
learn

of
these
efforts

Bloomington
Public
Schools
and
Civic
Partners
collected
thousands
of
pounds
of
food
for
Veep.

district-wide
food
drive
collected
more
than
11
thousand
pounds
of
non-perishable
food
and
more
than
fourteen
thousand
dollars
in
monetary
donations.
During
its
week-long
district-wide
food
drive.
This
is
the
13th
Drive.
The
district
has
held.
These
donations
will
provide
nearly
53
000
meals.
Veep
serves
10
000
people
a
month.
More
than
half
of
those
customers
are
children.
