A
Thank
you
welcome
to
Bloomington
today,
I'm
Emily
taplin
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
Buzz
for
the
week
of
February
15th
through
the
21st.
The
city's
Housing
and
Redevelopment
Authority
has
been
awarded
a
grant
to
help
bring
affordable
home
ownership
opportunities
to
Bloomington
housing.

B
A
August
of
2022
the
balloon
HRA
was
appointed
by
the
city
council
to
manage
five
lots
that
are
being
released
by
the
Minnesota
Department
of
Transportation
in
order
to
develop
affordable,
homeownership
opportunities
on
those
Lots
located
off
Humboldt,
Avenue
and
82nd
Street.
Recently,
the
HRA
learned
it
was
approved
for
a
three
hundred
thousand
dollar
Grant
from
the
Met
Council.
To
help
do
that
work,
the
HRA
will
provide
a
match
of
three
hundred
thousand
dollars
to
the
Met
council's
funding
to
produce
at
least
four
affordable
homeownership
units.
So.
B
Affordable
home
ownership,
which
we
all
deserve,
were
all
entitled
to
decent
dignified
housing,
but
wow
going
a
bit
further
and
saying
home
ownership,
which
lends
itself
to
generational
wealth,
building
and
just
stability.
These
homes
would
be
occupied
by
people
that
are
our
First
Responders
police
officers,
firefighters,
Teachers,
Community,
connectors.
These
homes
are
going
for
affordable
home
ownership
to
those
people
that
want
to
live
work
and
have
a
passion
for
the
Bloomington
community,
and
so
I'm
super
excited
about
the
opportunity
to
bring
that
forward.
