Gave
this
speech
at
the
bloom
in
Bloomington
graduation
ceremony,
she
is
one
of
12
youth
who
were
part
of
the
first
cohort
of
interns,
ages,
16
to
24,
who
worked
with
the
City
Mall
of
America
and
Larkin
Hoffman
this
summer.
The
program
aims
to
provide
young
people
with
opportunities
to
explore
career
paths
from
a
wide
variety
of
employers,
build
valuable
work,
experiences
and
develop
leadership,
skills
Larkin.
C
Hoffman
has
been
a
long-standing
partner
with
the
city
of
Bloomington.
We
were
thrilled
to
have
an
intern
who
was
able
to
be
embedded
with
our
office
and
learn
more
about
our
government
relations
and
land
use.
Practice
and
Emanuel
had
the
opportunity
to
work
on
our
just
Deeds
program,
which
is
really
Central
to
Bloomington
itself.
So
these
are
all
restrictive
covenants
that
have
been
recorded
against
properties
within
Bloomington,
where
Bloomington
residents
have
affirmatively
said.
C
D
Was
such
a
powerful
fun
time
this
summer
with
our
four
interns
at
Mall
of
America,
they
made
such
an
indelible
mark
on
our
offices
on
our
work.
They
brought
joy
and
New
Perspectives
and
I'm
actually
getting
a
little
emotional.
It
was
such
a
fantastic
summer
working
with
those
interns
and
working
this
program
and
we're
so
excited
for
the
next
round
and
looking
forward
to
continuing
this
partnership
for.
A
Future
internship
opportunities
visit,
blm.mn
bloom
hundreds
of
residents,
participated
in
bloomington's,
National
Night
Out
on
Tuesday
August
1st.
There
were
about
330
block
parties,
sprinkled
throughout
the
city
with
safety
personnel,
including
fire
and
police
stopping
by
each
and
every
one.
Events.
E
Like
this
are
very
important
to
continue
and
maintain
and
build
on
our
trust
and
relationship
with
our
community.
Obviously,
in
Bloomington
we
have
a
lot
of
police
officers
that
live
in
this
community
that
grew
up
in
this
community.
So
events
like
this
just
help
us
to
continue
to
maintain
and
build
trust,
and
that's
one
thing
that
makes
us
I
think
unique
in
terms
of
a
police
department
is
a
good
portion
of
our
officers,
have
extensive
connections
to
the
city
of
Bloomington,
the.
A
City
of
Bloomington
partners
with
the
Minneapolis
Regional
Chamber
in
an
effort
to
strengthen
the
future
Workforce,
the
Minneapolis
Regional
Chamber
facilitates
an
annual
educator
externship
program
connecting
Educators
with
local
businesses.
The
city
of
Bloomington
was
one
of
those
Partners.
The
goal
of
the
program
is
for
educators
to
visit
different
organized
stations,
make
connections
and
develop
curriculum
content.
One.
F
Of
the
greatest
takeaways
for
me
is
just
hearing
over
and
over
that
students
need
communication
skills
I've
been
coming
to
this
externship
for
three
to
four
years
now
and
each
year
we
get
to
go
to
about
five
businesses
or
organizations,
and
the
theme
across
the
board,
including
today
with
the
city
of
Bloomington,
is
that
students
really
need
communication
skills
as
they
are
working
their
way
through
high
school
and
Beyond.
It's.
G
H
It's
really
fulfilling
to
have
this
partnership
with
a
chamber
of
commerce,
because
there
is
such
an
opportunity
for
us
to
bounce
ideas
off
of
each
other
and
both
become
better
from
it
and
have
the
partnership
where
they
bring
forth
qualified
candidates
and
that
we
can
help
continue.
Sharing.
What
we
look
for
in
order
to
serve
the
residents
at
Bloomington.
A
That
is
the
buzz
on
Bloomington
today
for
the
week
of
August
9th
through
the
15th.
If
you
would
like
to
watch
other
stories
from
the
show
go
to
this
week's
playlist,
Bloomington
Police
trained
with
a
new
tool
we'll
take
you
there
plus
meet
a
notable
neighbor
who
made
a
unique
Guinness
world
record
attempt
this
spring.
Thanks
for
watching.
